Theres Ragnarok Online... which you can ummm... *COUHPRIVATESERVER*COUGH kind of play without paying. D2 was awesome, not sure if its still going though.
I tried Maple Story - didn't like it that much.
I tried Rappelz - didn't like it that much.
I tried RF Online (I think thats what it was called) - didn't like it.
I also am getting kind of bored with GW... but I find myself not playing as much, so the times that I do sign on are more fun than if I just log on for 3 hours at a time, 2 or 3 times a day, every day of the week haha.
But yeah, console games are also a good idea [<3 my Wii]

Recently, we had a major guild upset. 2 officers and all the young players bolted on us. The remaining players are adults and RL can step in from time to time. I have maxed out so many titles including Kurzick (Snorefest) and all I have left is vanquishing. That is just like redoing everything all over again. We can roll most zones as a group (with proper agro). The challenge missions dont "do it" for me. The get boring after about 10 runs each. GW2 had better up the "shiny object" factor.
I will look into the suggestions posted.

D2 is still around. my sister and her husband played it constantly until about a year ago. i tried to get them into GW but they chose to play Last Chaos instead (which is a free to play online game). i think there is something wrong with them.
anyway, back on point, i think most of us go through the stages where we get bored with the game. it happens to me from time to time and i will look for other games. but as i check them out i find myself comparing them to GW and they always come up short to me. by the end of my several days l ong search i am itching to play GW again lol. hope you can find something to tide you over though!

I have been trying out some MMO's myself such as ArchLord and RFOnline with the conclusion that I will never ever touch anything from Codemasters.
Recently I started playing a game called Shaiya, it was fun while the quests lasted, but now at level 18 [max level is 60] I am alredy getting bored with the grind. You can get into groups easily though if such a game is your cup of tea.
PVP is Light vs Dark side and also consensual duels. The graphics are acceptable but I am experiencing some lag which renders some skills unusable.
Guild Wars is a beautiful game [despite minor shortcomings] and I believe it wont be easy to find a free online game that even comes close to compete.

A word on Mythos (the beta at least): fun game, much like Diablo 2. But it gets boring somewhat fast.

I've been playing a game called Gunz as of late. Definitely not an MMO but a great game
Also, Sword of The New World is a very, very unique and compelling game. Try it out if you want to control three toons at once

If you like RTS or FPS, Savage 2 may be your game. Its a very unique experience.

Seriously.
In Pvp, Make sure you have a hippo hat, and put it on whenever you see a Swordsmen/Warrior/Blade.
Theres grinding but...Theres a story too (and quests...and instances)....and the pvp is accessible, You can have pets, and a partner.
It's fun

It's overloaded with dupes / hacks / bots now, plus the graphics are very outdated. Not worth it imo. Although there are rumours that blizzard are "secretly" working on Diablo 3 atm - but what is definite is that there will be a diablo 3 at some stage

That has been rumored for a long time now, code name Hydra and crap. But with WoW raking in 1.3 billion for them last year and more on the way now since they have over 10 million subscribers and Starcraft 2 on the way we would be lucky to see Diablo 3 this decade.
For something to occupy you for a while, Hellgate London is loads better than it was at launch thanks to the patches and Mythos is a top down Diablo knock off that is free to play and free to download. It will probably have micro payments and adds when it is finally finished, but you can't argue with free. There are also a bunch of RTS games that are looking good and they are usually free to play online.

Well, as of now during summer, I've mainly been playing COD4, Halo 3, and Rock Band be cause I got a 12 month(+1 free month) subscription to xbox live for 50$
I just yesterday found a game called Neo Steam. Just type Neosteam in on google. It's pretty fun. There are a few races such as humans, elves, POMs(little round faced dwarves lol, I'm a lvl 13 POM Weapon Master ), and...some wolf-like race I think. Theres 4 starting classes, then at lvl 10 you choose one of two arch types depending on your starting class.
Ex: My POM was a Fighter so Fighter< Weapon Master or Defender
There's two "nations" and mine is on the Republic of Rogwell, so if anyone joins, try to make a char in that nation and add Aidin to your friends list!
But um....yeah, it was easy to level to 10 and I kind of like the game play. So check it out!

I thought the video, at least, looked pretty good.

I played AO for a bit in dec last year. Its a sci-fi MMO with all the guns etc. I havent played it with the new graphics that they seem to have, so I may try it again. To list its key points etc from what I saw as a free player:
Quite grindy - I got to level 20-25 on 2 toons before stopping. i think it goes to 220 for free players, 250 for p2p players. But as mentioned next, it isnt as bad as H/H rep grind.
Real people - If you go on during peak times to popular leveling spots, your almost cetain to find a group. People are friendly etc. Makes what would be boring grind in GW quite fun IMO.
Its all one big world - not towns/outposts like GW
Very Overwhelming/Steep learning curve - Its very hard to figure out wtf to do, so I would recommend using the forums/guides to help. it gets easier once you advance a bit, but the first 1-15 levels can be frustrating being toally new to the game. Perseverance is key here.
Looks like the PvP could be fun - Never got to a high enough level though to properly look at it :P
Graphics quite dated - Not runescape bad, more early 2000's gfx. Ignore this is they have that new gfx shown in video.
2 factions - sort of like lux kurz. Each have different cities, but I believe they are clones with diff architecture/layout. You can stay neutral if you want though, all you'll lose out on is some free armor at the end of the starter island.
All in all, if you are willing to stick it through the first few hours/days of play, I'm sure you'll find some fun in it.
