Still love the game but...Getting bored
Are there any other MMO's like GW that don't charge a monthly fee?
I am looking for playability, graphics quality, and community to hold me over until GW2 comes out.

I have been looking a bit into Anarchy Online myself. They offer a three-tier system: free-to-play, $5/month (gets you access to one expansion, Shadowlands), and full subscription. Here's the site: Anarchy Online. I guess you'd just follow the "Play for Free" instructions. You will find a video sample of the new rendering for AO here: AO textures video. I thought the video, at least, looked pretty good.
As to whether the game is any good, well, I'd be interested in what other GW players who've tried it have to say...
As for another Free-to-Play, Granado Espada, I'd avoid it unless you have a high tolerance for total nonsense.
There's also Dungeon Runners, which some people seem to enjoy.

funny you should ask, because I came across this minutes ago, its a game called Archlord, which I've never heard of before until I try to look for more free minipets give away and stumble upon it on MMOZine.
PS: they also giving away free stuff to LoTr players. :P~
oh, by the way don't be surprise if they won't let you download the client, because I try and it won't let me. probably have to find the game disk in a store.
Granada Espada: erm, looks fishy to me, as they wanted you to sign up with you identification/passport number... FISHY!

I've played Archlord. Horrible game, for a start you're in an environment where you can get PK'd anytime you step putside an outpost. The art is very bad, the gameplay moronic and repetitive and some of the bugs I saw with creature models made me cry. I kept coming across grey models with no textures on at all!
Plus, if you want to survive or be effective you're continually drinking potions all the time which you can set to refill automatically. They don't drop that much (well not that I saw) and if you want to buy resurrection orbs you need to purchase credits with real money then spend the credits in the "Chantra" store.
My opinion - avoid like the plague.
There's also RF Online, another Korean grindfest, that Codemasters had to end up giving away for free (you don't even have to buy the initial game anymore). The art is better than Archlord but the gameplay is pretty much the same. If not worse. AFK mining has to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

HAHAHA, luckily they wan't letme download!! thanks for the tips!
PS: for OP, if you find it bore playing the game, try doing the challenge mission, and work your way to the next until you get to the top for all. IE: start from the first one and try to get to the top. Dragon's Throat is the first one i think (may be wrong). I am doing that now, to get away from cartography for a while (i will complete all 3 map if it kills me! 99.2%, 96.2% and 95.4 at the moment) but anyway, you will find that you are better now then you are before.
I couldn't even get pass the second waves at first, now I can easily be in the record list for the daily top listing, with heros / hench off course.

Oh wait, there's Mythos - by the same folks that made Hellgate, but it's a quite different. I don't know, there's a bit of grinding involved and the same old mundane quests.
I think you'll need an invite though, and I've got 10, so PM me your email addy if you wanna try

speaking of Hellgate. It's free as well after initial game purchase. And with the memory leak patch, it no longer eats 98% of your RAM! I jumped back in a week ago after recovering from the hell that was the released game and online was jumping with people.
You may find a bit of a problem with AO. Not just because it is complicated (I'm sorry but learning the crafting system, how to use nanos, how to buy wrangles so you can equip the weapons you want, and just plain how to get around can be overwhelming even with experienced mates, not to mention the omg kill me now lag of noob island), but because it's no longer dying slowly its mostly dead.
Great game though, only one I know where you can litterally become a leet.

HG:L is... ok. But it's not an MMO.
I finally gave up and just paid a monthly fee for a game - though i'm not keen on having to. It was either:
- Play a free MMO that GW wtfpwnz.
- Play a better MMO than GW that has a monthly fee.
I chose the latter, as there was no point sticking with a game i was bored of for the sake of it being free.
LOTRO does it for me, stunning game

I never said they last forever. Monthly fee games have:-
- Better Community (generally)
- Better support
- Better/more updates
.. than freebies. But i can't see any other free game beating GW, so my advice is just to pay per month.

hmm I'd like to know more about Mythos...anyways, Rappelz is a free game, it might not be your style though. It was made by Gpotato(maplestory creater) but it has 3D,better graphics, and pretty good gameplay. Rappelz.gpotato.com the levels are quite easy to 30 but from then its a bit of a grind I think. my highest is a 22 so...yeah.

TBH the graphics in Maple Story are a lot lot lot better then Rappelz.
Colourful and vibrant 2D >>> Some old ancient 3D system that would work on a Voodoo 1 or something.

Yeah.. I'm considering quitting Guild Wars as well...
It's like my whole guild is ignoring me, we used to do stuff together but now it's just DoA and vanquishing which I'm bad at... and guildies are running off for HA.
I'm looking for a decent free MMO... one where you don't have to pay to play. If I can't find one I'll just stick to good old Morrowind... at least people who ignore me and shut me out there, I can kill.

I've stopped playing since the end of 07. My 360 is keeping me company.
