Are you serious???
PVP servers are meant to be a gank fest, that is what AoC is all about. If you dont like the ganking like I dont, then play on a PVE server and no ganking worries
I made an Assasin today, and I am very impressed! This has to be the first time I am enjoying playing melee more then a caster in any RPG o.O
The fatality kills are bleeding awesome (pun intended XD):
Yes, in case you didnt realise, I'm wearing a crocodile.
My favorite low level armor, although its only good for the first 15-20 levels unfortunately []
I wouldnt mind wearing a crocodile throughout the whole game lol.
I am finding it to be an awesome game, despite the few quest and skill bugs that are currently pressant in the game, but it has only been out for a week. Theres also the dreaded out of memory crash that plagues everyone because the game isnt clearing texure memory efficiently enough, so it clogs up and slows your PC down as you play, and eventually crashes from running out of memory lol.
Hopefully that will be fixed in tonights patch.

Then it's a just a pretty version of WoW.
Which means I still won't renew my subscription after my playtime expires. I'd prefer imbalanced Dervsmite in GW to some shitty world-pvp gankfest.
I just camped several players last night for about 2 hours. It was shitty for me, and shitty for the players who I was killing.
Arena PvP better bring this game up.

There won't be any arena PvP. The 'battlegrounds' are minimages to have a bit of fun and get points. Sieges and FFA pvp are the real deal. Anyone who doesn't like FFA shouldn't play on a PvP server.
The FFA is awesome.

So I herd u dun lyk PVE?
If you are playing GW for its PVP, then you probably arent ever going to find a better game. GW has the best PVP out of any online game without a doubt. However, if you arent a PVP player and you actually enjoy PVE, you will find AoC a lot more rewarding then either GW or WoW. I never managed to get into WoW or Lotro no matter how much I wanted to. AoC however has won my interest.

To be honest, encounter design in Raids and Dungeons is nowhere close to the level of WoW, though it's unrealistic to expect that. Sanctum of Burning Souls for example has a superb environment, feel and layout design, but the bosses just seem like mobs with more damage and HP, and are basically tank and spank. The princess is still bugged 2 weeks after release. She stands there and does nothing while you spank her to death =P
We also got our full Tier 1 city(all buildings) done, even though it's 100% useless. Hopefully they'll fix this stuff before we spend hundreds more gold and thousands of resources to get our Tier 2 city.

There haven't been any sieges yet, because all the endgame content is broken badly.
You need a full Tier 1 City, then Tier 2 City, then Tier 3 City, and then a Battlekeep. Sieges are on battlekeeps. Currently, the 'cities' are useless, you get filler text for the description, and upgrading them to the next tier is bugged. Oh, and also you can't gather cotton(bugged), and rare resources are VERY rare(maybe 1% chance).

WoW never had proper PvP. It was a joke in that game.

It's more bringing it down. Sieges and world PvP are the focus in AoC.

It's definitely a personal preference on the arena vs. world PvP debate. Personally, arena PvP always felt disconnected from the actual game and ruined any sort of immersion factor in the game. I prefer to know that I'm actually making an impact on the world around me even if it's just killing people out doing quests. Some of my best memories from WoW are from battles that developed because a friend or guildie was being harassed while they were lvling an alt and I would go fight to help make the area safe for lowbies.
Hopefully in a few months I'll be playing AoC. My comp can't handle it atm and I want the bugs and end-game content fixed before I start playing anyways. Sounds like a ton of fun right now though.

I'd say it depends on the portion of PvE. So far, I've heard mixed things about raiding in AoC. I'm still examining how each class will contribute to each raid, how the raids themselves play it (the questionable part, as Anarkii has mentioned), as well as raid "balance".
It'd be a bit more convenient if it was as simple as what you've stated earlier: Each class does this, this many healers, etc. But, in the entirety of things, it's not so simple (if it is it will be boring: damned if you do...) It all depends on what each class can bring differently to the raid, the type of DPS it brings, how much DPS it can bring, best class in an "oh shit" situation, and the list goes on.

I'm sure when more content is added for levels 55+, and the loot table is introduced for dungeons & bosses (which is coming soon), AoC's PvE will be up there with the best of 'em.
Still annoys me that i run out of stamina after every 2 elite mobs. Need endurance to start working dammit!!

Out of curiosity, is the reason most people here are obsessed with AoC because almost everyone from the QQ forums switched over?
Ever since QQ forums came on the scene, GWG has become QQ-wannabes.

No. It's really odd that you believe that Guru would be influenced in the slightest. AoC is a very popular game right now.

Are you kidding me?
If that were true, I'd just call you the N-word. That'd be my whole post. Not that I believe it's good/right/appropriate, but if this were QQ-forums it'd be the truth nonetheless.

It'll be interesting to see what's patched by the end of the free month, and how many leave (hopefully all the forum whiners).
I for one, love the game, but hate what the company has done (lied about certain things, hardly any of the selling points were in at launch..).

Well I finally got everything I paid for. My e-mail to Game about my mammoth was ignored, so I sent an e-mail to Funcom support. Funcom added the mammoth to my account themselves. Now to bring myself to play...nah.

There is virtually no difference between the classes within each proffession in terms of DPS, the only thing that varies is the skills and playstyle. All warriors are equally as good, same with rogues / priests / and mages.
I have tried 5 character classes now - ToS, Assasin, Demonologist, HoX and Dark Templar.
Out of the 5 I ditched the HoX because I wanted to dual wield daggers so changed over to the Assasin, which turns out to likely be the most disadvantaged, yet fun melee class in the game.
Assasins are extremely weak, particularly in PVP, and are very squishy as they are melee with just cloth armor. However when you get the sneak attacks and combos right, their damage output is immense, although it still seemed somewhat behind both the HoX and the Demo to me.
I dont think there is going to be much class preferance in AoC like there is in GW. All the classes play very similarly with good DPS, and the difference between each is purely in the playstyle rather then in DPS or group preferance.
And I'm not a raider anyway, so I couldnt care much about what happens there.
