Time for another story from tales of Conan the IT professional.
Guy at computer desk installing Age of Conan, “dang my computer won’t run this game to it’s potential.” Thinks quietly to himself “now what would Conan do?”
With loud sudden music sung in the tounge of old and thunderous trumpets flair in the background a large man ripped with muscles and a great two-handed sword appeared. “I am Conan the IT professional and I am here to help you gain fun and profit!” Conan immediately takes one look at the PC before him as prey to a lion and with one great two handed thrust stabs the demon creature thoroughly with his mighty weapon, while a back swing lops off the vacuum tube monitor off it’s ancient rotator stand. “This PC is not worthy of such great deeds that I require of it!” “We shall form a raid and take only what we need, fear not end user for I cam Conan the IT professional!” said the mighty Warrior King.
Later that day 300 well-armed warriors appeared at the local Computer Super Store. “Careful Men we do not want to give up our advantage of surprise!” “Wait for the doors to open that we may proceed into the might fortress as any would be shopper.” “Let non stand in your way show not mercy for the weak for they shall show no mercy for us!”
The morning doors opened as any other day, Blue shirted workers pushing yellow carts walked unmolested unaware of the events about to unfold. When four arrows shot across the parking lot, down they went, as Conan the IT professionals and his war band charged the entry way. One by one the men in blue fell beneath their might as lambs before wolves. “Take that one capture we need information!” With knife in hand this casualty of war was taken hostage, his neck held by knifepoint begging for his life. “I require knowledge of your keep!” said the angry king of his domain.
“I’ll tell you anything you ask, just leave us in peace!” the little man in the blue shirt said in fear.
“I am Conan the IT professional, and I am here for supplies for my kingdom to live.” “Tell me where you keep your new high end computers that we make take them from you!”
“On isle four but you will need my help in getting your two year warranty.”
“I do not need the service of cowards!” and the man at knifepoint became motionless as his skin became pale white, and body became limp.
Meanwhile on Isle 4 Conan’s men began taking what the King needed. They left nothing of real value left and only took what they could carry. 20 to 24 inch crystal view monitors, new EVGA motherboards, Nvidia 9800’s video cards, a handful of beautiful 2 gig 800mhz RAM chips, and anything else of value to make the man’s computer work, as it should. On the way out a heaving young vixen whose emerald green eyes caught Conan’s said in a soft pleasant feminine tone. “Thank you for shopping at Computer Super Store come again as we only seek to please the customer.” Mistaking this as an open invitation of lust, Conan the IT professional took her upon his massive shoulders and ran off with her as well, she did not resist.
1 day later….
“There you go friend, now my Age of Conan game shall work and you shall tell me stories of high adventure, and I had this computer case made of the finest steel and liquid cooling system, something you can trust.” Said the great warrior king.
“Thank you Conan my PC needed an upgrade and the stainless steel polish looks great.” Said the satisfied end user.
“It is now as it should be for I am Conan the IT professional!” “And for this deed I demand tribute of 14.99 a month. “Fulfill my requirements and you shall have another day to prove your worth.”
The music fades and the happy man played Age of Conan as it should be played.

You're having trouble at those specs? Ouch, I'll probably have to not turn things to Low, but to *Off*. At least I got me some more ram.

Conan did the Labor for me for free, of course I have to pay him Tribute.
It took me about 3 hours to build my system, this was the first time I've ever worked with liquid coolant systems, and dual video cards. I've been meaning to do this for over a year so I already had a budget for it. I just needed an excuse to build it.
requirements:
GOTO Can you Run it.
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
14.99 monthly fee, worth it IMO, has both instanced and non instanced area's
49.99 includes first 30 days. If you calculate 5$ an hour for entertainment on your budget, as I do, then you already have a budget for this game paid for.
I have 5 Keys @ 100k + 100 ecto (Ive chosen to keep my keys for some friends of mine to check out.)

As weird as this sounds, RAM is just as important as the gfx card. 3gb+ is highly recommended.

Mind posting the specs of your system? Just curious.
And as for Age of Conan, I already downloaded the client. Can I install and patch with out registering? And if I do, do I still have to buy a hard copy just to get an account? Or can I just buy it online like GW, where you can download the client and just buy a CD-key.

I noticed i didn't have Bloom switched on earlier (in AoC). Switched it on, frame rate got sliced in half...
/need moar RAM.
Card/cpu etc all spiffy, I'm thinking of investing in another 2 gig (on top of the current two). Had to buy the other half a new card because his looked parp.
Don't think I've ever spent this much on/because of a game. >.<
Bloody enjoying it though, even if I am still waiting for my drinking cape email..

Meh!
The more I play, the more annoyed I get. My chosen class sucks.
Demo looks good on paper, but just doesn't hack it. I've yet to reach lvl10, and already I'm thinking time to reroll.
Only classes that actually survive are melee, assassins and rangers. Casters are so pitifully weak when they're outnumbered. Even with my half naked demon woman, I get rolled.
The complete lack of self healing doesn't help.
Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
/end rant

I can't remember lol
For now you have to buy a hard copy. I've seen no mention of purchasing keys online. They used a peer system for the early access, and it was f'kin slow. Best to just get a hard copy anyway.
I'm done for the night. Servers are coming down soon for maintenance etc for the release on Friday.
At this point, I don't suggest you new people role any casters. They are awfully weak for a game that pretty much requires you to play solo for the first 20 levels. I just rolled through 3 quests in 10mins my barabarian which took my demo an hour due to running, dieing and running some more.

Well, I've got it.
I'm currently playing a Barbarian in Hyperborea as my main, but I'll probably make another character for that honor.
BTW, my char's name is Mister if you care to say hi.

From what I've read it seems the caster classes work best in support groups early on, but towards the end of the game they become much more powerful.
Either or I'll probably role a ranger profession, for me its a no brainer. They're always a reliable profession for survivability, and actually aiming will be awesome.

The more I look at this game, the more I want it...
Unfortunately, it has come to my attention that my good ol' AMD Athlon 64 Processor only cranks out 2.21 Ghz, and Conan requires a minimum of 3.
What would be the smartest replacement for my processor? I'm looking for the most bang for my buck.
