It's a proper MMO. Getting to max level in a day like GW would be laughed at. People are actually complaining that 1 month is too short.

I didn't say it was not much. And there's no 'the real game starts at 80' deal here. The leveling *is* a major part of AoC's attraction. I'm burned out of raiding after doing 40man and 25man raids for years, so new content is the major attraction along with sieges someday. In fact I'm just planning to level 2-3 characters to 80 instead of doing any endgame at all.
The level of complexity in raids in AoC can't match the current endgame in WoW, so looking forward to it would be folly. Sieges will be fun, but there's no real hurry.

<------took 6 month to get to 70 in WoW ....can take awhile when you get easily distracted by ganking and don't have lots of hours to put in on a daily basis
if anyone wants to shoot me a free trial i would very much appreciate it. Getting a new comp very soon and I think i might give this game a shot

For a hardcore MMO player thats normal. There is a lot of 'pro bums' playing MMO's.
Your average addicted kid will play from say 6pm until 10-11pm, then get up for school early to play another few hours.
People in my former guild thought nothing of playing for 12-16 hours a day.
papi - I'll send you one. My RL friends don't play PC games as it's "too geek" for them, so my invites are free to whoever wants one.

The early access client is officially available through any preorder account in which pament has been approved.
Downloading now XD
With the last beta patch, people with minimum spec PC's have been able to play the game constantly with good FPS on minumum settings. One player was getting 20 FPS on a P4 3.0 Ghz, ATI X700, minimum settings and 1280x1024 resolution (much higher then the rated minimum of 1024 x 768).
Also the beta client is using the older cheetah 1.5 engine, whereas the final game will be using cheetah 2.0 which funcom have said will run 30-40% faster.
The minimum requirement for the game is not a joke, an ATI X700 or Nvidia 6600 will play the game smoothly on minimum settings, an ATI 3870 or Nvidia 9600 GT should be perfectly fine for high to max details, and these are currently affordable cards (affordable in PC prices ofc).
No reason really to overate the games engine and say that it wont play well on slower machines, it has been optimised wonderfully, and the game on minimum still looks better then WoW and GW do on max.
And yea, warhammer looks like turd, not just the graphics, but everything about the whole game XD
Although it will appeal to people that find AoC too hard, some people are annoyed that you cant 'click to move' omg lol.
Anyhow, we will all find out this coming saturday just how great AoC really is

Quicker leveling means that the devs can focus on upper end content. Theoretically, having the least amount of leveling possible would benefit the max level people the most in a paid MMO because the devs wouldn't have to worry so much about low level stuff nor would large portions of the world be areas that were too low level for you to get good loot or exp from.
I really think Anet hit something good as far as leveling is concerned in GW1.

Why hate a game that doesnt rely on selling more copies to survive?
GW has screwed over much of its community base by actually 'requiring' players to buy new campains just to get competetive skills. You had do buy Factions to play a B light monk in PVP after boon prot was so tactically nerfed (tactical for Anets $$$). You had to buy NF to get LoD / Searing Flames / Imbagons etc, and then you have to buy Gwen to get - lol ursan lol -
I HATE guild war's free to play, but 'you must buy new campaigns for a chance to compete' approach. They are just as bad as any other company out there.
Also, in order to make more money, Anet sells lots of Guild Wars merchandise on their website at premium prices. Oh, but fans are fine with throwing away their money on this, but a monthly fee to support a game is too expensive, no wai sherlock.
AoC took 5+ years to create, and a developer team of over 100. On top of this they need to provide servers capable of hosting the game and eveyone playing it, and also such a modern and graphically advanced game takes up a lot more HD space, which means more data to provide for downloading. The people making the game do have children to feed you know.

If you have any left over, I wouldn't mind
I would've preordered, but then I realized my machine probably couldn't handle it, so I'm currently in the process of piecing together a new one. Should have it around the end of the month. Then, AoC, here I come!
But yeah, it would be nice to try before I buy, ya know?
EDIT: vv I definitely appreciate it, Malice! Looking forward to spilling some blood

OK, I'll send when my box arrives. Probably be next Monday, as the game goes live Tuesday.
1 more invite left.

I was downloading at a nice steady pace, until I hit pause. Now dropped down the low 100's.
From 2 hours up to 17 hours. Bad.

Just a quickie:
I don't really care about graphics, as i want AoC for the new combat system. Alot of people seem to manage to play the beta with PC's not up to the minimum specs, so i may as well try my shitty integrated graphics anyway.
But:
What Geforce model do you think will smoothly run AoC on low graphics, regardless of what the minimum specifications states?

6600 should do ok on low. 7600+ on medium settings. An 8800 will be required for high.
Mind you, you have to include CPU and RAM into the equation.

My other specs meet AoC fine, which is why it kinda sucks that my graphics card is so baed.
Pentium 4 dual core 3 ghz
2 gb RAM
No Vista, so using XP with DX9
+ the other usual fluff
