Yes, 3 processors running at 3.2GHz, aka the "mighty" Xenon processor is mediocre at best. You would have full understand processor architecture to understand why the Xenon is weak. The Xenos (the 360's GPU is decent), but the Xenon CPU is NOT.
Oh, and you overshot my monthly divided income by a bit, but I won't say by how much.
You guys forget what I do for a living. I know hardware. Games and genres are opinion based, hardware is fact. This is not an argument I advise we have, as it never ends in other way except victory for me. If you want to argue it though, you better study up on CPU architecture and functionality, as well as fabrication and design standards.
The fact that some of you can't see to accept is that the 360 is nothing but a 2-3 year old PC. It is not high end, it isn't even remotely powerful by today's standards. The GTX280 can output the total theoretical maximum of the ENTIRE 360 console (CPU and GPU combined)
A midrange PC today costs about 600-800 dollars. Granted, it is more expensive then the 300 dollar 360, BUT it can do a lot more as well. And, most of the big name games on the 360 that are "exclusive" are on PC as well, with better graphics and typically better controls. The fact is, if you had to choose between a PS3 and 360 at this point, the better choice would be a PS3 because of the inability to get the exclusives any other way. Can you people not see this simple truth?

Why do you have to keep posting... About half of this thread is you defending the PS3 and you have made your points over and over again becoming quite redundant. Yes, the PS3 has great hardware, great DVD playing qualities, and overall great performance, but not everyone wants to spend that much. Some people just want to play without online capabilities or not have to dish out extra cash for stuff they don't want. I wanted a PS3 when it came out then checked the price tag and backed out. And just to look at the facts, there are quite a bit more XBOX 360 players because of the lower cost (yes, I know in the long run the PS3 is somewhat cheaper). Most of the people ont this board seem to be 360 users. As I said anyways, most good games come out for both PS3 and sometimes even the PC, which are becoming more common these days, no point in arguing over personal preferences.
Personally i feel that your status as a mod should have made you more inclined to let this thread die out as the original poster only wanted to know whether the PS3 was doing well in the market and about the 360 version coming out. While, honestly, I admire your use of education in hardware to describe how great the performance of the PS3 is, I think this thread needs to be closed. Question was answered and there is no need to continue discussion (unless you want to open a new thread, which i would enjoy reading more comments about the PS3)

You spoke my mind, but you forgot to include that he also made up some random crap dissing the other consoles, which I don't think he took back yet.

UPDATE: I was beginning to harbor my first ill thoughts of my 360 when it broke down with RROD (red ring of death).
After a little googling I figured out that my xbox is a xenon model (first gen 360), and they are currently at 3rd gen (falcon model), and have 4th gen releasing in august, 5th gen for specific repar requests, and 6th gen sometime in the future.
Point is if your old outdated xbox breaks down (release consoles being the ones infamous for high failure rate) they'll give you A: A brand new model B: Take out the guts and update it to 3rd gen. --- For free!

I didn't "forget". I was just never told. Again, I cannot read minds.

Even the most avid of PC gamers will tell you that some games that are 9/10's on the 360 are not that great on PC, simply because of anti-piracy software, and sloppy/unresponsive controls. For anti-piracy software, see Bioshock, for sloppy controls, see Madden or any sports title, even racing games, unless you have a joystick.
Like a previous poster said, you've turned this from 360 vs. PS3 to 360 vs. PS3 + PC.
Within the last 2 or 3 months, I've actually been thinking of trading in my 360 for a PS3, because of the lack of games. I felt like the only reason I had a 360 was for Halo and Gears, but when I look at the PS3 exclusives, there's really nothing better. I mean, another $~150 for MGS4 and... God of War 3, which probably won't be out for at least a year... and...Resistance, no that was mediocre...FFXIII... oh wait.
Although, the 360 isn't doing much better, they've got Halo, which frankly, isn't all that much better than Resistance, it's basically a dumbed-down UT. Gears is pretty good, Ninja Gaiden was good, Saint's Row was good for waiting for GTA4. For upcoming games, Fable 2... Banjo-Kazooie looks pretty good, actually. Haven't played the first one on 64 for like, 7 years though.
Graphics are nice and all, but when you don't have many great games, it's really just unnecessarily gussied-up.

But it is so much fun to see avid defenders of the 360 claim how powerful it is! This thread is purely for the sake of amusement at this point. I have to say, this is the most epic Console Wars thread we have had here on Guru to date. It maintained at least some sense of civility.
Oh, and the PS3 is on the cheapz these days, just as an FYI.
Per your well spoken statement, the thread shall be sealed.
Good talk everyone, good talk. We do it again sometime.

Yeah... As much fun as I had reading this, it is now time for it to end. If you want to get into the technical hardware side of the consoles more, I'm sure Rahja would be happy to accommodate you in the Tech forum. =)
