Basic French is no harder than German or polish tbh. If you're open to those langages I don't see why you're criticizing french people.
Enough with hate please, this is an attempt for people to be less close minded, if you can't get that you're welcome to not answer the thread anymore and continue being xenophobic elsewhere
I'll introduce a new french word.
"Abruti": definition is either given in the post above or by the english word "jerk"
|
I am open to other languages. I speak Polish, English, German, few words from Japanese and Spanish (going to a Spanish high-school next year), planning to learn Russian (I know how to read those funky letters ;d). I just don't like the french attitude, as every frenchmen I've met was rude, used ONLY english despite 3/4 of the team being non-French... Oh, and the choices they made in WWI and WWII, thanks to them Poland is like 1/2 smaller than before.
Btw, thanks for the new word. No, really, I love learning new definitions. I would delete my character ,,Abe the Jerkass'' and put ,,Abe the Abruti'', if not for the fact that I would get PMs from the French ;p
Okay, back to topic, Jerkass Abe.
No, really, I think I'm a jerkass. Really. No sarcasm. I am bubbleburster.

I'v meet even more rude people talking english than french. That comment is just a bad excuse. And ffs, can you get over the damn WW? First its done and back in the past, and second not all people who speak french are from France.
WW.. whenever we speak french there is always someone getting over it again and again.

I thought "un truc" and "merde" both meant "We surrender!" in French.
But then again, I thought every word in French could be interpreted that way.
I'm KIDDING!#!@!@

Don't blame him, he's the perfect illustration of the word "abruti", he's probably only trying to help this thread by giving a concrete example of what the word entails.
I think everyone should contribute to this thread with a word from their mother tongue. I love languages, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Arabic.

LOL world war.
that was like 60 years ago? Do you think the same people that made decision are still either alive or in charge?
Ho BTW france was not the only country that decided to do not do anything against the nazis until they invaded poland. Just so you know something.
Think as would have said aretha. Even in schoool we're thaught that our "president" made really coward decision in school. So stop with the effing WW1-2. We're not responsible for it.
There are a lot of french "kevins" as we call them, but no more than every other country. You just concentrate your hate on us for whatever reason. Shall I point you to any of those videos where people from any country are asked about there geography knowledge and can't even place australia? There are jerks everywhere, not more in a certain country.
Anyway the discution is way out of topic and I just like it to be deleted.
@Jetdoc: lol. I don't mind that "french military victories" thingy (truc) I find it funny
@Fril Estelin: I think that would be great.

Won't blame him, he just do like all the other people that just doens't have any arguments. Sure I'll google his country and keep spaming the shit that his country has done over the two last 100 years, if we would all stop on that, we hate each other forever.
Here's my favorite french word : TABARNAK. It's actually a word only used in Quebec unknown to other french country, it's swearing and mean something like "SHIT" but worse. I say that all the time.

To be Frank all modern languages are ridiculous, stupid and underserving of use.
Words with gender? Irregluar verbs? a bunch of different ways of saying "the" so that you can say a sentence backwards without it losing it's meaning? made-up words?
These things are all ridiculous, these languages we all use evolved over hundreds of years with no regard for logic. There is the fatal flaw. None of our languages are logical, they all contain stupid elements that outsider would see as idiotic.
The time has come for us to throw down are pointless attachments to the past and create a new language based on logic, that we will all learn and use to overcome all barriers to communication.

Actually PvE is more like 5 year old boys with slingshots firing at tanks and because the tanks have a 1mm hole (where the rocks can get though) the 5 year olds win.
So to fix that - the maker of the tanks - moves the hole to a different place.

Quebec has one of the funiest and most original comedy I've ever seen: Bon cop, bad cop. It mixes French and English perfectly, with pun on words in both linguistic directions, jokes about the culture and the French and non-French attitudes. It's a fantastic delight and an invitation to share beyond our linguistic limitations!

You do that. I know my country sucks, so I can just list things WE did wrong in last 100 years.
1. Alliance with Russia, they tricked our stupid politicians and were able to attack Europe from our territories.
2. Enraging Hitler.
3. Stupid Polish pride "we will die before we surrender!!'' said by Warsaw's president, who after few days escaped from the country (CHAAARGE while retreating ;d)
4. ,,Famous defeat'' of 1944, where 2/3 of Warsaw was destroyed after complete failure.
5. Letting communists rule in the country for so damn long (40 years).
6. Mini-civil wars that didn't do anything good for the country.
7. After the market crash after WWII, we were living quite well, because our presidents borrowed money from other countries. When we had to pay off and we didn't have the cash to do it, what did our president do? PRINT MORE MONAY!!!!
8. And I could tell another 20 things about things in past 8 years, but I think 7 is enough.

Yeah, but we were defending for a week. If France, German's neighbor attacked them and smashed fast, the WWII wouldn't happen. They gave Hitler a lot of time to prepare for world conquer. Oh, and I know other countries didn't do a squat to help us. Just that we weren't in an alliance with them.
And I blame the England, too, but they helped us few times before, during and after the war. Hell, 2 millions of my countrymen went there to have a better life...

History is also what makes us what we are. There's a good example in French: many words who have the accentuated character ô come from a latin word that had "os" instead (hostel -> hôtel) and you suddenly realise what different languages share. And where stuff comes from, which remind you that our "boundaries" are only temporary or virtual, this is a very big family...
Most of the people who will involve logic in "linguistic non-sense" (sic) barely know the subtleties of many languages, where only a very serious work of translation can make you realise the semantic depth of certain "ridiculous" features of the language. And if you knew the linguistic developments of AI during the last 25 years, you'd know for sure that there's NOTHING like a "logical language". Logic is about the structure of reasoning, not the description of the world for example.
Sometimes when I listen to French comics such as Raymond Devos or Pierre Desproges, I wonder how these extremely subtle jokes could be translated and that make my head explode .

Don't blame Abedeus for being completely incompetent at searching the internet. Don't be so ignorant, did you know France assisted the colonies in their war for independence? I hope you don't honestly believe that the colonies won on their own...
I also dislike your description of PvE

Google > all, sry. Even the first result without ,,lucky'' option is question about ,,why it shows that there are no victories?''.

Raymond Devos is a really, really awesome comic isn't he? I love how he plays with words. Shame most of the recordings are old and I sometimes don't get all of what he says
