Atlantica Online is going OB soon. Sounds interesting, turn-based so its something different for once.
Hero Online, that one is alright for a grinder. Dated graphics but only graphic RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOs will complain. Other then that I find it a fun waste of time.
2moons was nice. In fact 2moons is damn good for a grindfest. The only thing that is holding it back, is being open pvp *only for losers that can't fight:P* and in the end every build, no matter the class was high Sta.
Perfect World is just that Perfect for a F2P MMO. If there's any that you are gonna try this would be it.
World of Kung Fu sounds interesting I might give it a try later on when I'm bored. Sounds like a better verison of 9Dragons.
Which 9Dragons isn't that bad or at least it wasn't. Allowing us to key jam to lvl skills then ripping that away hurt it IMO.
I end up just going back to Diablo most times. Nice now b/c there tons of new and old players now, thanks to the upcoming Diablo 3.

Looks good but, meh, i hate turn-based games, they remind of an online version of Pokemon.

Rappelz is a pretty fun game with a unique levelling system to me. You have your normal experience points along with "job points" that you get per kill. For certain jobs, you get various skills that can be levelled up by using job points. There are obviously the favorite job builds going on, but it's nice to mess around with different styles of play. My personal favorite was using an extremely slow 2-handed weapon with tons of instant attacks to get 3-4 attacks in the space of 1 XD. Most of the time, I would kill a creature in a single attack chain (which usually takes 1-2 seconds).
All jobs can get their own pet that gain their own job points to support their own role, although some are rarer and harder to get than others. Turtles and Skeletons can tank, Orcs deal massive physical damage and buff out other physical damage dealers, Blue Fairies cast various healing spells, Red Fairies cast offensive spells, etc.
Of course, there's still a large grind to get truly good at the game (I'm not sure if there is a max level, but I know there are people over level 130), but it's supplemented by a huge amount of quests (most of which give over half your level in experience even at ~40, which is the point I got to XD).
My friend is also a huge fan of Cabal, although I can't say anything about it since I've never played it yet. It's extremely flashy for people who like that kind of stuff.

well dungeon runners on the scale from rubbish to mindblowing gets a whopping "meh"....played it for about 10 mins, was kinda fun blowing shit up till i realized i was essentially just starting another grind....so went back to good ole faithful, where i actually care about the grind.

I've always wanted to try Cabal, because the videos/screenshots make the game look ridiculously fun at a high level with AoE and flashy, neat animated skills. But the leveling with quests apparently is a huge grindfest and is slower than Requiem, which is about the slowest game i've ever come accross.

HUmm. Getting banned for buying stuff that you should not have because it runes the experience is a good thing in my mind. Imagine for instance everyone running around with 22 dmg swords in preseaing with max shields and selling them like mad. Then what happens to that economy? Tubes man tubes

Sounds like a Ragnarok Online ripoff. Same with basic and job levels + ability to ,,transcend'' or ,,rebirth'' after hitting 99 base and 50 in 2nd job (yeah, you start at 1/1, get to 12-15/9 and you change job, at ~50-70/40-50 you change again to 2nd job), to start again, but with a bit more attribute points and with ability to get 2nd job to 99/70 and more skills and skillpoints.
The bad side is that the beginning is not balanced - novice class transforms into swordsman, mage, acolyte, archer, thief and merchant (hehe, awesome class), and three expanded classes - taekwon kid, gunslinger and ninja.
Swordsman - tank, but has large AoE capabilities and aggro holding skills (Provoke makes enemy concentrate on player, lowers defense but adds damage). 2nd jobs is Knight, expert at damage with spears/swords or Paladin, a cross between Swordsman and Acolyte. Both 2nd jobs can, but don't have to use mounts (large emu-like birds).
Mage - nuker, a lot of SP (energy/mana used for all non-passive skills), can deal damage, freeze, burn, shock. 2nd job is either Wizard with the most powerful AoE spells in the game or Sage, something like Me/E with buff/debuff abilities and improved spell casting.
Acolyte - primary buffer and healer, can deal some damage with Heal spell (undead) or Holy Light (all, but demons and undead are more vulnerable). 2nd jobs are Priest (improved Healer with resurrection spells and stronger buffs/debuffs) and Monk, a melee/knuckles/mace (;d) acolyte with self buffs and one of the most devastating single-target attacks for non-Transcended non-Expanded characters.
Thief - Assassin of Ragnarok, strikes fast, strong but has little self-defense skills. Has the ability to hide from most of the monsters excluding demons, insects and Bosses. 2nd jobs are Assassin, master of DPS and is widely considered to be a bit too strong in any hands (skill is not required to be good using him) and Rogue, Assassin with some debuffs (stripping armor/shield/weapons from enemies), improved hiding and strong range and melee attacks.
Merchant - The hardest character of all to play, but all players should have at least one at account. Has easiest time making money thanks to Discount and Overprice skills (one rises prices at shop when you sell items, the second lowers when you buy), but can be a great mule, as you can use him as a mobile shop and storage. 2nd classes are Blacksmith, he's able to forge weapons and is much stronger in fight and my favorite job, Alchemist - creates potions, prevents enemy Rogues from stripping equipment and heals teammates. Also can use Homunculus, a Ranger-like Pet which requires food to be alive, but is a powerful ally in battle.
Expanded:
Taekwon - Well duh. Kicks, self-buffs and punches. 2nd jobs are Soul Linker and Taekwon Master. Can't use most of armors, no weapons or shields.
Soul Linker - by linking to people's souls, he can make their true powers come true, for example by reducing recharges on skills, increasing damage or similar effects. Also possesses powerful buffs and the best single-target damage that can be used against ANY monster (they can change the element of their attacks), but not players. This makes them good for hunting for loot in PvE, but kinda weak in PvP. Their links cost tons of SP, so do spells. Can't use most of Taekwon skills, although he regains ability to wield shields and daggers.
Taekwon Master - never made one. Continues the ways of Taekwon, more self-buffs, effective in PvE and PvP. In PvE, a bug in one skill created something similar to Mark of Protection + N/A Shadow Walk/Vampiric Spirit/Feigned Neutrality combo - bosses with 2+ mln of health could be killed in 6 seconds, video exists on youtube. Fixed after few hours.
Gunslinger - Master of guns, shotguns, handguns, gatling guns (Vulcan rifles), sniper rifles and rocket launchers. Not used much, because he's a pretty boring character that focuses on buttonmash/high Agility to pressure targets.
Ninja - uses Ninpo (magic) + dagger skills and shadow skills to act like a tank or damage dealer. Dagger ninja's are not popular, as not only Ninja and Gunslinger quests are hard for new players (almost impossible without an aid of a friend), but they also require skill to work. Magic ninjas, however, are very popular due to their impressive single-target DPS and... easy usage, just press F1 on target all the time.
There is a lot of equipment in the game, monsters, huge world, a lot of quests, even repeatable ones for EXP so players don't have to grind all the way to the end. There is even a quite complicated card system, similar to Runes from Diablo 2.
I suggest try private high-rate servers first, to gain experience and basic knowledge without the fear of loosing money/screwing up character, then mid-rate's, low-rates and finally official servers.
Oh, and the main reason MANY people play is because of awesome War of Emperium guild vs guild battles - hundreds of people fighting for control over a castle is something everyone should see. Screw 12 vs 12 in GW or 40 vs 40 in WoW ;d

That'd all well and good and everything, but....it's 2D chibi avatars.
Make Requiem exactly like that, and i'd play it. The blood sells it for me.

If you like graphics > gameplay, then don't play anything. Not many free/mmo games have good graphics AND gameplay.

Hey, here's a question.
Is there a game with better PvE but uses the same payment schedule as Guild Wars does? Like pay now but no monthly fees later?

....what. a normal action/rpg game? there are many.
the thing that distinguishes gw is not pvp (i dont care what these "pro" players say that like stating that in order to enjoy mtg you HAVE to play tourneys, rubbish) its the skills and builds.
you could try a game called Etherlords, its turn based though.
VERY cool game.

Sounds cool but also sounds kinda offline. =\

Hi Phil!
Hate to burst your bubble, but the master server is down for good. It will never be online again as it was taken down years ago, because the number of online people never reached a significant amount (around a maximum of couple hundred people at a time) so they stopped supporting the server(and eventually the game itself). So now the only way to play in multiplayer is via TCP/IP, LAN or Hotseat.
Best regards,
Kizsde

And in response to your question, just something that's a hack and slasher is fine, just needs decent graphics that's on par with or a bit better than dungeon runners.
