But the drive doesn't spin when you're downloading stuff. It only spins when you're playing game or dvd. But yeah it's noisy, no denying that.

Really? Mine keeps making noises as if the drive is still spinning. I'll make sure there isn't a disk inside it the next time I leave it on to do background downloads. Hmm, RMA? If so, -1 for Micro$oft and Xbox 360...

games CAN not WILL be installed like the ps3. the new live just gives the option to load faster.
the newer 360's have greatly improved the rrod problem, but it is still not a sure thing. jsut be on the lookout. u can greatly minimized rrod problems by 1) not playing in a extremley small space without good airflow 2)leaving it on for extended periods of time like 6 hours or so everyday 3) not moving it around alot.

Im not sure how the PS3's "installing" works, but the 360 will copy the game disk to the HD, and will only require the disk to be inserted to authorize the game, letting the dvd drive stay unused except for the initial authorization.

Depending on how much is installed (different per game) thats exactly how the PS3 game install works.
Installs some or all of the game to the HD and then just uses the disc to say that the game can be played.

That it does.
Thanks for the advice, everyone...I went and purchased the system on Monday, along with Dead Rising, Soul Calibur 4 and Devil May Cry 4. I've been having a blast with the system!

Funny.... funny stuff here.
Things Sony ALLOWS you to do, and even gives instruction on how to do so for most:
- Remove and install any size 2.5" HDD
- Install any open source operating system
- Install any open source programs on that operating system
- Support as many formats as is legally possible
- Program directly for the Cell CPU for non profit applications.
Microsoft allows NONE of the above without voiding your warranty.
The 360 is a pile of DRM garbage, just like Vista is. Microsoft is focused only on controlling you and everything you do. If they could charge you to breathe, they would. Sony isn't all that great either, don't get me wrong; but at least Sony is being somewhat lenient about certain matters. Microsoft is quite the opposite on that note.
$2 games only if you are using less than legal sources. Same applies to PS3 by that logic. And the 360 is far less modifiable than the PS3, as pointed out above.

I can agree with you on this, but when it comes down to gaming on a console, whats the main point? titles right? good games, lots of good games, turns out sony RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed up and didn't get very many good EXCLUSIVE titles, leaving the shittier and more apt to break system to reap the benefits, i support neither system though, which is very clear by the way that i exploited microsofts warranty garuntee mistakes to essentially get myself a free slice of the piece of shit console pie.

More apt to break? In what parallel dimension do you live? Sony has a .3% failure rate on their PS3s. Yes, that is 3/10ths of a percent if you didn't catch the decimal. XBX360 has a 16% currently, and at one time it had a 28% chance of failure. UMMM, maths? My PS3 runs almost 24/7, because I constantly have [email protected] running when I am not on it. It has yet to be damaged or run incorrectly.
Sony has exclusive titles, the 360 doesn't (for 95% of so called "exclusives" at least) Most of the 360 "exclusives" also come out on PC at launch or shortly thereafter, and TYPICALLY better on PC. Sony isn't in the PC games business, so they don't do that. In other words, it is best to own a good gaming PC and a PS3, as opposed to a good gaming PC and a 360. The 360 is basically a mediocre gaming PC in a small box with a high failure rate that happens to be cheap to buy, and has a good warranty (but that requires you to ship it in and wait 4 weeks+ to get it back)

Sony messed up, and left the shittier console to reap the benefits of their mistakes.
And as for xbox's "exclusive titles" yes, i realize all of their so called "exclusive titles" end up on the pc, which is great for people like us, but for CONSOLE gamers which a CONSOLE is geared at, they only really give a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO about whats on their specific console, so yes, while all the xbox "exclusive titles" aren't truly "exclusive" they are "exclusive" to that console and dont' show up on the other two.
I see this as epic bullshit just as much as you do, but you've got to look at this from the perspective of the typical console gamer. It's BS, but so's the playstation, it just depends what bullshit console you wanna ride the downward spiral of.

Sony is better at console gaming than Microsoft. They have been in the business longer, they have the more powerful console, and their console has more functionality (especially out of the box). Console gaming is worthless though, that I will agree with. I use it more as a pass time, and my PS3 gets a lot more use as a media server and BluRay player than a gaming console.

Oh, I completely agree with this... it's still lol though, trust me, i'm more of a sony fanboy than you'd think, it's just that they greatly dissapointed me with the release date and the ability to secure titles that actually make buying the system worth it. Though, it is a superbly cheap blue ray player and has alot more things to do other than just games =D

In long: Nope fanboy, you are wrong. As per the usual fanboy you talk shit without doing research.
1. Modding 360 doesn't void warranty because it isn't a hardware mod.
2. You can't pirate PS3 games due to the fact a) no one cares about the system and b) Each Blu-Ray game is way too big to be downloaded.
3. What does your list have to do with anything.
4. What kind of idiot would take the time to point out $2 per game is "illegal"? No shit sherlock.

^ Oh look, opinions without facts. How typical.
Software modifications on the 360 do void the warranty and EULA for the software. The same applies to Sony's console, so yeh... However, Microsoft does not allow Linux to be installed via their EULA. Send a console in for repairs that has it on there, they will send you back your broken console and a letter regarding why they won't fix it.
