Yeah, that's the "problem" with dogs. It's much harder to say goodbye to them than to cats, which most of the time you won't notice if you have a big house.

I know that, since my dog was very sick and I was afraid she might die. Thank God she's always been... hyper-active and she's okay. And she's lost a bit weight, too ;d

Well, yeah. I had a Rottweiler. Cute as a puppy, but he was really aggressive. He once went to my sister's room while we went out to a party. When we came back, our dog WAS happy and so on, but he didn't leave sis' room. When she tried to come closer to him, he started growling. My dad had to force him to leave, he didn't want to and he started a real fight - he was biting, my father had to slap him in the butt until he had no more strength to bite anymore.

But I think it WAS something wrong with him, as he died from heart attack at the age of 2. Maybe it's for better, I mean, our relatives were afraid to go out with him for a walk...

As to why so many people have cat avatars rather than dogs, just head over to http://icanhascheezburger.com/ and check out lolcats as opposed to loldogs - the dogs just can't cut it.

bah to cats and dogs....rodents are the way to go! (guinea pigs, hamsters, and mice of course!)
that being said, we had a cat when I was growing up.....and am allergic to them to this day (poor cat when we moved had to be tied to a chair as my mom was sooo allergic to it she could barely be in the same house as it!)...my mom had a dog, he died last year...my sister (who owned the cat) now has a min-pin that barks constantly (I cant even go to her house, it hurts my ears), my other sister used to breed dogs, 2 of my brothers had dogs (the other has allergies so no animals).

me ...would rather have a dog than a cat....want a japanese spitz (think Samoyed but LOTS smaller), hubby would get a swedish vollhund --its alot like a corgi, but plays well with others!

anyways, until I get out of this condo (NO PETS ALLOWED), I will be content with my plush varieties

The reason there are lots more cat avatars on guru is because every tard is jumping on the TOTALLY UNFUNNY lolcats bandwagon and trying to milk every last drop from it.

i had a hard time saying goodbye to my cat as well, his name was Meow, he was a stray my friend picked up and gave to me. He ran away at a very young age, or should I say Cat Napped. that's why I switch to owning dog, the cat slept with me, he used to suck on the corner of my shirt cos it thought I was its mother. and it would purr and "step on you" using its front paw, alternate left right, left right, in the morning. I don't even have a picture of him, he was only approximately 9 months old (if memory serves me right) when he disappear!

welll I can try....they make lots of noise, and must be 'let out' to do their 'business'....you must feed them everyday (heck with our cat we left her a big bag of cat food---the 5lb ones, she opened a small corner and ate when she wanted too...and never tooo much, though in all fairness we did also feed her fancy feast every day)....and they have horrible bad breath ....and like to lick your face when its the worst breath they have ever had. (not to mention some can knock you over as well---my aunt had a kerry blue and it could put its paws on my shoulders! brother had a lab/terror mix that loved chocolate, dumb dog, and also loved to rush down the stairs only to SMASH into the wall at the bottom!....dumb dog)

did I do good???

oh yeah I forgot...after those 'walks' you have to clean the beasties feets.....or they leave tracks all over your house and your person (ever had a dog jump on you right after it came 'in' and it was muddy outside???????????)

and dogs bark louder than cats can meow (though our cat had some vocal chords on it...loud enough to wake you up---sis used to call it her alarm clock)....so loud barking dogs somehow means cat people are lazy.....will have to work on that one for a while-

But the reason for so many cats, is as someone else mentioned.. because of those lolcats thingy. xD
