You said that "we think you have an awful taste". Quite clearly too and you also said "if i said i say", it really doesn't make any sense at all.

you bet those are true metal. \m/
but a band doesnt need to be famous to be true metal. your local garage band might be truer than most of the poser shit out there. one can discern when his/her taste is well-developed.

That means that there is an objective criteria in sorting out music - from the best to worst.
This means that there should be possible to arrange ALL music that way.
And you can be PRETTY darn sure that given the history of music - metal will NOT come on top. THUS you are listening to bad music and thus we have the right to look down on you and laugh at you.
Right?

Actually, I imagine the roots of Metal probably WOULD come out on top.

I hate metal. Not my type of music. It is too... aggressive and not chilled out enough.
Try listening to The Knife. They are awesome.

Alright, I like to think of myself as a metalhead, but really, shut the hell up. You just make yourself look like an arrogant ass. If people like emo, postcore, rap, prog rock, or whatever the hell they like, leave em to it. I don't like much of said music, but I don't go out of my way to diss the people that do. I don't go the extra mile to make an ass of myself, as you have on multiple occasions whilst talking about "true metal" on this site--I've seen several of your posts.
How about you leave this place and come back, in.. oh, say, fifteen years? You know, when you might actually be able to handle the fact that metal isn't all there is to quality music.
Now, semi-related, on the discussion of "true metal", that's debatable--very. Some might say "true" metal is the stuff from the 60's-70's when metal was just rising. Others may say it was Metallica, when they finally made metal "cool". I don't think there is a true metal, but I do find that today's Euro metalheads are a shit-ton more brutal than Americans. America focuses more on the radio mainstream sound, how well it will sound, and as part of the mainstream, the melody. Euros are more focused on prime, clean cut heavy metal. Only real quality, intelligent heavy metal band in America, imo, is Lamb of God.

see bolded, that's exactly what im doing, leaving em to it. i dont try to convert them into metal. but dissing them in the process is the metal thing to do. (that's what my metal friends and i do). unless you're one of those open-minded metalheads... :/

i occasionally post here for laughs only, this isnt my main place to talk about music. ive got a real metal forum for that. btw we diss non-metal (the sucky kinds like rap and emo. we respect classic rock and a few other good genres) and false metal (all of them) there too.

true and false metal span all decades. for example the 70s-80s had the pioneers like Led Zeppelin and AC/DC, but also spawned the gay hair/glam bands. i like metal from any continent as long as it's good, although i agree that euros are more brutal and most of my favorites come from there. i disagree however that LoG is the only good modern American band (dont like em that much). As I Lay Dying, Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Trivium and Shadows Fall are good too, among others.
btw dont lecture me on metal, your list on page 2 had shit nu-metal like Korn, Disturbed, Linkin Park, angsty girly rock Evanescence, and NICKELBACK LOL and exactly 0 true death metal.

Hair metal was metal's darkest--or big-hairiest--hour. And by "dark" I don't mean "black metal/satanic brutality". Not at all. I like a little metalcore, mainly Trivium.
On the subject of "true metal" again: Only a couple of Korn's songs I actually like (Coming Undone, Evolution, Make Me Bad, Freak on a Leash, etc. Most of their radio hits). And yes, I listen to Disturbed, but they're not metal, not at all. More hard rock. Linkin Park is angsty shit, yes, but I liked it 3 years ago and old habits die hard. :P I wouldn't call Evanescence girly rock, cause that's demeaning. They're angsty as well, but not as much as LP (the kings of angst). "and NICKELBACK LOL": Yes, Nickelback. Note that I said a few songs, and not the radio hits. ; )
0 true death metal is correct. I don't do death metal--atleast, not yet. I'm working my way. Mostly into melodeath, black metal, thrash metal, and metalcore right now. Working my way there.
I'm going to hope you don't reply to this, because if I see that you have, I'll be compelled to reply back and de-rail this thread further.
