I used to be really into playing chess, but I haven't played in probably 7-8 years. The other day, I was just thinking how it would be nice to play again. I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with a good free, or, in worst case scenario, cheap chess program for the pc. I'd prefer something single-player with good, multi-level ai, but I'm willing to look at some sort of online thing as a last resort. Thanks in advance!

I've always used Crafty, which is an extension of Winboard. It's fun using it to cheat at Yahoo! Chess
