Been to the states recently?
It'll be a cold day in hell when people here stop driving. Plus, nothing is really close enough to ride a bike to. The US suffers from urban sprawl which prevents this.
I know I don't want to ride 17 miles to work on a bike. Do you? lol.

Nope, never been there, though I have heard many stories about american people and their love of cars and driving. Yeh, youre probably right about that urban sprawl thingy.
Lets give them all electric cars then.
And btw, I believe gas is still cheaper in the usa than it is in europe... *checks google*

Bah, netherlands is the worse *sigh* A well, good that i dont have a car :P

It is cheaper for us. But you drive smaller cars, and drive less. So, in the end, it may at least equal out to what we pay.
I drive a european car though, so you can't flame me.

Flame? Why flame? Personally, I really dont like american cars. Now I my knowledge of cars does not extend beyond a rare remark "oh, that one looks expensive", but I do know what cars I think are pretty and what cars are not :P American cars tend to look like a) tanks or b) lego cars. Pure esthetically though (did i spell that right? am too lazy to check)

Agreed. American cars are unreliable too. I don't like them so much either.

I could ride my bike to work, if I wanted to get hit by a car since their are no sidewalks or shoulders where I live. I have done it once. Almost got killed 5 times. Never wanna try that one again. >.>

Well over here we got sidewalks, and roads for bicycles only, but it's pretty easy to ride a bike here, no mountains, but high humidity.

I live out in the country and it's all hills into work. And pretty nice sized ones too. So it was a very difficult ride and very treacherous. So ya, not doing it again.

I wish I could ride to work. I used to ride a lot when I was younger. No wonder I'm chubby, lulz.

Theres no way I could ride my bike to work for these reasons.
1) Work is about 20 something miles away.
2) Work is in a bad area of Gary, Indiana (I fear for my safety.)
3) Bikes are not allowed on the Toll Road or Interstate.

I don't drive anything atm. I am a full time student so ya, I walk to class and pretty much everywhere within a 5 mile radius. During the summer I drive to work, and the car I drive is a 95 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera. Gets about 25 mpg in town and 30 mpg highway, pretty good for an old car. 88k miles on it. Good car.
