I agree the Eragon movie was so bad compared to how good the books were.

I think the worst Book to movie is The Davinci Code -.- I usaly don't have expectation in movie, so I'm not dissapointed very often.
But for this one, I came in with very low expectetion, but some how it still went under the bar

Have to agree that some of the book to movie can never really catch the detail of the book. The problem has always been with adaptation, there are certain elements that work well with a book that don’t work well with a motion picture (detail versus visual). Everyone has his or her own interpretation of how the visual scheme/plot is going to be, even the director.

LoL @ people who think the Eragon books were good.
The film is rubbish. The books are rubbish.
It's like they decided to pack every single fantasy cliché into one novel.

I myself liked the Eragon books, but the movie was a flaming pile of crap.
Being that I don't read such a broad spectrum of fantasy, I've not been exposed to the "cliches" of fantasy literature. Whatev.
But I'll agree that the movie was horrible. Skipped half the story, screwed the story on numerous occasions, and the main actor was.. well.. not good-looking. Just not the kind of person I'd see being a 15-year-old hero.

well....could they really have all of the book inside of it? most books made into movies suck, but a couple aren't that bad..of course they skip a lot of stuff, but if they didn't, wouldn't the movie be made into a five hour piece of flaming crap?

It's true. I think the only series that hasn't really sucked hardcore after being made into movies from books is the Harry Potter series AND James Bond. Yes believe it or not James Bond is a book. Of course I have never read the books so I could be wrong tbh... lol

Yeah Ian Fleming's books on James Bond are just a bit better in detail then from the movies. The two adaptations I hated were Michael Crichton’s Timeline and Steven King’s Dreamcatcher, which were simply horrid interpretations of the two books. However, some Graphic Novel stuff has really transitioned well to the big screen of late (From Hell, Sin City, and etcetera). One exception being The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which was really terrible.

Hey at least all these books to films are still better than games to films! I was unfortunate enough to watch DOA the movie last month, what a piece of crap!
Anyone remember Mario Bros: The Movie? Count yourself lucky if you've never seen it.

lol I remember watching that movie way back when. I felt so depressed afterward... Mario had been ruined by a stupid movie lol The TV show wasn't horrid though. The movie was just... just a kick in the nads. So bad.
And The League of Extrodinary Gentlemen was not near as good as it could of been imo. Left out to much.

I read the Da Vinci Code book in less than a week -- I'm usually a much more paced reader. I'm not even going to bother with the movie.
As for adaptations, I'm seeing The Fog today. I read that way back shortly after Steven King published it. We'll see how it goes.
I didn't read Eragon but yeah the movie sucks.
