Vista is a very good Operating System.

users don't like something new and unfamiliar. give it more time, everyone will be using and loving it.

Heheh, I grabbed that one out to play again just the other day!

From a vista user, I sympathise. I must say I haven't had too many problems with it, the main one is the graphics driver issues with Nvidia.

Someone who doesn't know anything about computers and software would say this.

Just sayin' is all.

Windows XP 64-bit > Windows XP 32-bit > Linux > any Vista.

Somewhere between is Mac, don't care about it.

Is this bad I don't have internal LED's in my PC? I don't see any blue or any other lights inside of my pc-case-thingie (it's open all the time, so I can use a fan as a megacooling tool of year '99). Is this baed? ;/

Yes it is very bad that you dont have internal LEDs. Specially since they're not blue and because you dont have 3 of them.

GTFO you no LED having so and so. =P

IMO most people hate Vista because it's kind of forced on them these days. I bought a new computer like a year ago that could barely handle Vista, and had to spend all day getting rid of it, and putting XP on it instead. While idle my computer should NOT be using 544 MB of RAM. That and they said before Vista's release that it was meant for gamers as well as others, this was false considering that many games wouldn't even load on Vista, and would simply generate sound with a black screen. However I hear since service pack 2 for Vista came out, that it is great and actually worth using.

The last service pack I downloaded definitely improves the running somewhat. I don't get anywhere near as many errors as I used to.

I don't have LEDs either. I had a case with 'em before but they aggravated me whenever I tried to sleep with my comp' on.

I didn't install Vista until SP1 so I missed out on a lot of the problems it had. It's great now although I have to say that my XP SP2 has less problems. Vanilla XP or XP SP1, I dunno.

And yes, I know there's SP3 out for XP, but if SP2 runs damn fine then I don't give a rat's ass.

I have 3 internal blue LED lights mounted on one of my case fans to distribute all the blue glowiness to my PC's crucial gigglewatts. I tried to locate device drivers compatible with Vista for the LEDs, but I have been unsuccessful so far. My XP service pack 3 runs the LEDs, so I think I'll stick with that.

...

One of my fans has an LED and doesn't require any kind of drivers to run.

My mobo has a green LED that says that it's getting power.

Although I'd like to have more fan-type LEDs, I don't NEED them. Why on earth would anyone need three LED lights on his/her mobo?!

I have 8 internal blue LED lights, bitches.

In terms of OS, it works like this;

XP: Good
XP SP1: Good
XP SP2: VERY good
XP SP3: lolbad
Vista: Worst thing made by Microsoft
Vista SP1: Slightly less bad, but not worth buying
XP 64bit: Only if you think you need more than 3.5gb of RAM, which you don't, so a waste.
Linux: Best. Hard to get into/used to, but arguably the best.

Aside from Linux, the best choice is XP SP2 32bit, as there's no reason to get anything else.

I can name about 100 really good reasons and about 1,000 more insignificant reasons why this statement made me crap myself in laughter.

PS: Regarding this RAM all of you seemed so confused on. The total memory address space on a 32bit OS is limited by the fact that 32bit instruction sets cannot "see" the RAM above that level. That includes ALL system RA: GPU, CPU, DIMM based DRAM, APIC, and Flash, and PCI ranged memory. The only way around it is using 25bit PAE instructions. Microsoft isn't to blame here, x86 architecture is.

I don't know whats wrong with all your computers, been running vista for 3 weeks now. no errors (knock wood, I hate saying that, everytime I say I have not been sick for xx time now, Boom, next day sick :P) what so ever, it even loads programs faster then when I was using xp sp3, using the same computer as before with no new hardware added, but it a new one :P

I still stand by my view that because users don't understand the system hence they dislike it, why, because they can't do shit with it, cos they don't understand it, but for someone like me, yes, I don't claim to be a computer wizard, because I am not, I am a user, I don't mess around with the system or do technical stuffs with it, after 3 weeks on vista, it serve its purpose better then my old xp. So whats wrong with that?
