I've watched the trailer several times and have enjoyed it, but I'm incredibly worried about the film's entirety.
Will they cater to the masses and turn it into just another super-hero action movie, thus making huge profit, but betraying its original fan base?
Or, will they stay true to the original context, giving philosophical and moral insight as the story progresses?
Only time can tell, although I fear the former will come to pass. The 'visionary director of 300' only adds to the virulence; most 300 fans will probably either eat this up or turn away in disgust. I can only imagine the horror of seeing men my age, their caps carefully slanted, proclaiming The Comedian to be 'SWEET!' while denouncing Ozymandias' intelligence and demeanor to be 'ghey'.

Meh, I think The Spirit looks better. I'll have to read the book though.
When I saw the first 15-20 seconds of this trailer in my Dark Knight showing, I thought it was a Bioshock movie. I was so excited for a bit, but then, as I said, I meh'd.
I'm definitely going to see it, seeing as I work at a movie theater, and even if I quit before then, I'm still going to see it, but we'll have to see what more plays out as it gets closer to March '09. My sights are still set on December '08 for The Spirit. I've been stoked for that since like, April.

Read The Watchmen. You can't really understand the trailer w/o a reference, the source material is pretty important with this movie.

There are so many great old comic books that could/should be made into movies....and yet....
How many times have they screwed up?
Do you really wish to see something you loved in a Comic Book become a late night joke fest thanks to a really crappy movie?

Samuel L. Jackson....
Conclusion: It must be good.
Bioshock movie, I wonder who would do a great lead in that. As for the Wolverine movie, is it a different director? I always thought the X-men movies went kinda down hill after #1. From my observation it seems our current generation of film and general entertainment seems to be towards darker more "mature" settings. People seem to find a darker and more evil story more relative and realistic I think. Its shown everywhere from video games (Gears of War, Dark Void, Dark Sector), to movies- like the new HP.
Please don't tell me Deadpool is being played by an ex-comedian. Sure I saw him in Chaos Theory, not bad- but I also saw him in Blade... ehh... Lets see if he can surprise me though Heath did.

Man, Deadpool for all intents and purposes IS a comedian. He uses black humor ALL the time.

I stand corrected, I believe I made a mix up to begin with. After watching Dark Knight all I can seem to think about is DC. I always confused Deathstroke with Deadpool, partly because I'm not as familiar with Deadpool's character and have always assimilated the two together. That puts things into a much better perspective, although I'm not sure if Black humor is Ryan's thing. I'm sure the more slapstick/punch line side of Deadpool will come through with Ryan, I just hope he doesn't get too sidekicky.

Hollywood has run out of movie making ideas lolololololol, its is either remakes of the birds or the day the earth stood still, or they repeat the story and then put in other actors in the role and call it some other name, or they make a whole bunch of jokes about a specific type of movies and then keep repeating that, naming the moive Horror Movie 1 Horror Moives 2, and then you have Superheros Movies 1 now you have disaster Moives .....

This started about 15 years ago. Stating it now is a bit after the fact, don't you think?

For Shadow Kurd: read the original story and be blown away! This is probably the greatest story ever told in a comic. About time it made it to the big screen!

That's exactly what I thought. I was thinking "Wouldn't it be more appropriate to say 'average' or 'overrated'?"
Anyway, I bought Watchmen off Amazon ($8 or so, great deal), and I can't recommend it enough. I wasn't planning on reading it until a coworker told me it was the best comic book ever. I bought it and I am so glad I did. Seriously, everyone should read it, even if you don't like reading.
One thing, though, I hope they don't show Dr. Manhattan's dick in the movie, that kept weirding me out while reading.

They showed a world premiere new footage reel of it tonight at Spike TV's SCREAM Awards. It was pretty epic footage, especially the nuke going off.
Dark Knight owned the program btw... however, Milla Jovovich won Scifi Actress award. <3
