Default Dave Arneson mourning thread for creator of D&D

I read about this just yesterday and it's really sad that both him and Gary Gygax, founders of Dungeons & Dragons are gone now. that's a lot to think about considering if it weren't for them, absolutely everything RPG related in general would have never come to exist. That includes Final Fantasy, Warcraft, Magic the Gathering... EVERYTHING!

So even if Guild Wars or some other role playing title is all you enjoy, let's give these two a big round of applause. We truly owe it to them.

These guys, for me, were the start of my lifelong love of fantasy. Guys like them set the stage for hack n slash games like GW.

I remember when I was a kid, the local hobby shop had all-day pen and paper d&d sessions where the owners were the DM's, and my mom would, for my bday, pay for session. I still recall a few of those moments.

When I went to college, my mom sold all my D&D stuff, I had first-run hard cover books of all the 1st and 2nd edition rules books.

I even bought that horrible POS pc 'port' that was Temple of Elemental Evil which led to the rightful demise of developer Troika, hoping that they caught on to something and would do justice to some of the classic modules.

Anyways, Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment were much better PC 'ports' of their vision, and did him justice.

Bravo, and RIP.

ouch! First run covers ain't easy to come by and maybe you should give her a reminder of how much they go for now on ebay or something. Terribly sorry to hear you lost all that.

I have to get in contact with my cousins and let them know I'm having some interest in this. Years before they were heavy pen and paper but I never got around to it, yet when MTG was popular I somehow got to do a few games with them. Sucks I had to move further out where I can hardly visit.

LOL at that earlier comment btw.

heh no.......but if you are referring to the physical appearance of members of KISS and Norwegian black metallers like those in Immortal, Gorgoroth, and Dimmu Borgir, the music is very different and their outlooks on like (such as say, being Satanic) are pretty different

and to Snow Bunny: shame on you!
