Lol and ROFL are not actually misused words, they are used according to their definition, to indicate that something made you laugh.

Some of those are pretty valid. Most of the people on guru need to read what "failure" and "vaporware" really mean (and I correct them every time they bring those words up).

Edit: ROFL is not misused. Hyperbole is not a misuse. Language is not always literal, and evolves to meet the meaning that people assign to it. Ie "I literal died from shame" does not mean you "literally" died. The meaning of the word literally has changed in that context.

Words having changing definitions is not misuse. Misuse is simply using the words completely incorrectly ("My grandmother died, I was so ROFL and depressed when it happened).

The problem is most people missed the point of the article, which was to use terms to describe MMOS, not terms used in-game. Go through the forums on that site and you will see them used ad-infinitum in the ways he describes. If you all are saying you use the term n00b to describe an MMO, you might qualify for Medicare just because of your limited mental ability. Go back to high school and learn some reading comprehension.

This should be posted in Off-topic and absurd.

Don't bother. Half the posters in this thread aren't even aware that "overused" and "misused" are two different words.
