A thread to post and discuss recipes. Preferable recipes that you made and are your own, but recipes your fond of are okay.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please post appropriate recipes ONLY

Here is one of mine. If anyone ever makes this let me know what you think. It is basically a VERY simple dessert-but with a bit more flavorful and elegance than just eating raw strawberries and bananas.

(It takes about 10-15 minutes total: Servings: 4)

Strawberry N Banana Surprise

Ingredients:

Strawberries (about 1 box)
Bananas (3-5)
Butter (1-1/2 tablespoons)
Maple Syrup (1-2 tablespoons)
Sugar (2 tablespoons)
Cinnamon (1 teaspoon)

Directions

1. In a sauce pan combine strawberries with 1/2-1 cup of water and 2 tablespoons of sugar, bring to a boil and cook for about 10 minutes or until softened.
2. In another pan add butter and melt until light brown in color. While the butter is melting slice your bananas into 1 inch pieces and add to the pan. Cook until the bananas have softened and caramelized. Finally add 1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to the bananas and stir until combined, remove from heat and set aside.
3. Once your strawberries are done combine with the bananas and mix together. Serve warm and enjoy.

I grew up cooking, so I'm pretty good. And I watch too much food network.

Lets see if I can dig up some recipes from my brain.

Well the strawberries taste pretty much the same-but softer and sweeter. The bananas have a nice caramel taste to them. Overall I thkink it's a fantastic dessert.

Explain "a little"

I'm looking more of recipes you either made up yourself OR ones you got inspiration from but you didn't steal the recipe.

I'm sure no one would flame you for it.

I could use any recipes I could get, seeing as I'm leaving for college next year. Anything quick and simple would be great. The only thing I cook well is waffles and canned soup/ravioli.

Get this. Sounds weird.

Talapia (white fish)

Get it fresh from your fish monger

1) in a large frying pan put 1 cup of italian salad dressing and bring to a simmer
2) in a separate pot prepare some rice
3) when the dressing is simmering put your fish in and cook for 3-4 minutes each side

*note- Fish should "FLAKE" with a fork when it is done. Do not over cook or you will have chewy fish.

Put rice on a plate when it is cooked and then the fish on top of the rice.
i like to put some soya on my rice but that is optional.

So this meal can be done in as little as 10 minutes.

Pooberts recipes to make you poo part 1:

My special eggwich:

It requires tonnes of butter (unsalted) on both pieces of bread. The butter must be more than just covering each slice as it has to mix with the other ingredients. Then you must hard hard boil a large egg and mush it. No slicing or chopping, mushing. There should be no area with concentrated egg yolk. Then you spread it on to the butter mixing it all in, giving an eggy-butter mix on your bread. Follow this by ketchup spread smoothly over one surface of the eggy-butter.

Now comes the optional: 2 pieces of lettuce. You must not chop, slice, shred or in any way alter the lettuce from it's leafy state. The lettuce sandwiches the egg mix and ketchup, so you may need to butter the side of the lettuce that is facing the egg as well as cutting back on some of the butter on the bread.

btw the bread can be whatever but try to avoid German rye bread because it is nasty.

Pooberts recipes to make you poo part 2:

My special sweet lentil curry:

First soak half a cup of red split pea lentils in water for an hour (don't forget to wash em).
Next heat a pot to medium and throw in a teaspoon of tumiric and half a teaspoon of cumin seeds and toast it dry (NO OIL!!!!) until it is slightly browner in colour.

Next you want to throw in the lentils and a fresh load of water to cover them by more than double the depth. (so if the lentils are 1cm deep in the pot, you want the water to be just over 2cm). Follow this by a dash of salt, and half a teaspoon of red chili flakes and bring to the boil, and simmer with no lid for about 20 mins.

Next chop up half a large yellow bell pepper in to small pieces as well as a small green chili and chuck them both in to the pot. Give it a good mix and continue to simmer for another 50 minutes.

Check the water level as it should be running dry. If it does at any time, just top up and put a lid on.

Once the allotted time is up and the water has gone you should taste the lentils to see if they are cooked. If yes make sure the water has gone and continue, if not add more water and keep a-cookin.

The lentils must not be very soggy or you will get watery chili which runs down your throat every bite and you will punch yourself in the neck because it is that irritating

Next you want to get a frying pan and add loads of oil (olive oil) and then fry another half a teaspoon of cumin seeds and a whole onion until it is very brown and limp and looks a bit like worms. Then pour (yes pour as there should be around a teaspoon of loose oil in the bottom of the pan) on to the lentil mix.

Turn the heat down very very low, put on a lid and let it steam for a while, then serve with rice or whatever you see around you at the time.

please note: If you add the onions while there is still water in the lentils, everything will turn brown and you will swear in about 4 hours after eating that what came out is pretty much the same as what went in.

Simple & Light Pasta

Ingredients:

-half box of rotini noodles
-1-2 cups chopped plum tomatoes
-1 cup fresh mozzarella
-2 cups fresh spinach
-1 cup parmesan cheese
-2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

Bring 6 cups of water to a boil; add your pasta and cook for 7-9 minutes.

In another pan add your olive oil and combine with plum tomatoes. Cook until tomatoes have softened and released their juices, about 5 minutes. Add spinach and cook until softened and wilted.

Drain pasta and add to the pan along with the fresh mozzarella and parmesan. Stir until combined and the cheese has melted. Remove from heat and enjoy.
