I think he is going to success. And who knows, he might still be ArenaNet's Sharesholders, just not working there in position he does not enjoy anymore.
Plenty of people love Zombies, including me. the trouble is, more people have computers as oppose to console (just a hunch/guess), so if he does make a mmo for PC that has to do with zombies, I don't mind playing it.

Throw me in with the 'I love zombies' crowd. I can't wait to play Left4Dead 2 (my power comp is getting put together for that).
Honestly, I just hope it's very realistic, very evil and creepy. I liked parts of Doom 3, how it was unabashedly evil. I liked parts of Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, how it had lore. I liked parts of Clive Barker's Undying, how it was adult-oriented. Roll all of that up, put it on PC (I read that it's for consoles).

Looks like Strain is a genius. O'Brien and Anet seem to have missed the news (GW2).

Creative minds rarely stick within the same project for more than a few years. As his CV shows, Jeff pushes the enveloppe, so this is one to look for in the years to come. It's heartwarming to see the nice words that Anet had for him.

I'm just wondering whether this will have any serious effort at PvP, but humans vs zombies doesn't make it sound very likely.
Console MMOs are an "untapped market" in an industry that has completely outpaced the PC in every other respect, so it's a smart move, and a place where innovation is the only chance at success.

If i want to massacre zombies, i`ll play L4D. If i want to play post apocalyptic game, i`ll play Fallout 3. If i want to play mmo, i`ll play GW or SW:ToR (when it happens). Jeff has lost it.

If it's non subscription based it might succeed. Console MMOs with subscriptions don't really work though, especially on Xbox Live where people with Gold accounts don't want to spend the extra money.
Then there's a matter of getting content onto the marketplace for download, etc.
Yeah, good luck with that Jeff.

Because the world needs more zombies, right? Unoriginal and far from genius.

Dragons are virginbait and were never cool.
Zombies at least were cool (that said, I still intend to pick up L4D2 in a couple of days).

It's funny because a long time ago people were saying that a fantasy online RPG with AAA quality content and no monthly fee would never work and would be career suicide.
Hmmmmmmm.

He left ArenaNet when he took the management job with NCSoft. I am sure he signed the usual non-compete agreement with them. That would prevent him from using any material that was proprietary to NCSoft for at least a year, depending on the agreement. So there you have the reason for zombies and console games.
As he was one of the founders/creators of my favorite game, I wish him the best. Although I don't play console games, my grandchildren do and I am sure that the quality will be excellent.

Doesn't change the fact that
A) We don't need more zombie games
B) Zombies are unoriginal
C) A zombie MMO isn't genius
