Rage Against The Machine For UK Christmas No. 1
As the title says... RATM for Christmas #1
And as the title says... UK #1. Although we are getting support from outside too
For those who are not familiar with the campaign...
We are basically fed up with getting X Factor (called Pop Idol in USA I believe?) winner to be number one for xmas year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year... It's been ongoing process for the past 5 years and we are sick of it
We have nothing against the dude that won this year. We are tired with the general marketing sh*t we are getting all over
All you need to do is buy a copy of RATM - Killing in the name which costs absolute peanuts (not even £1). The organizers are also collecting money for charity (atm it stands at about £36.000) but you are not required to participate in that
We have a facebook group which can be found HERE
Unfortunately due to a massive demand FB system sometimes won't let anyone in and you'll be redirected to your homepage. Last time I checked (15mins ago) the group had 800.000 members and constantly growing
There is a backup group created by the same people. HERE
Yesterday and today we've been all over the news - radio, tv, papers. So... well done us!
Thanks for reading and...
"**** you, I won't do what you tell me!"

It's actually called "American Idol".
Good luck with the campaign.

Also, the song being released by Joe Mceldry is "The Climb" which, as far as I know, was released about 5minutes before by Miley Cyrus! Is that even allowed?
Its just so unimaginative, not even covering a song which hasnt been done in a while. Its like Simon Cowell is sitting in front of MTV and whatever song is on when he finally finishes his blended £50 note cocktail is the one the X factor winner will cover.

RATM's winning the race on iTunes at least.
Stupid, stupid BBC - they only asked RATM to play it live on Radio. What did they expect?

That's not the first time that's happened. When Biffy Clyro did an acoustic cover they agreed not the swear, but the live audience weren't under such an agreement

Here you can watch the live performance
And yes, we'll remember who was number 1 in 2009
Either plastic and massively promoted teenager from Newcastle who will be ditched by Cowell in few weeks time (like he did before many times with other "winners")
Or a band with a song which represents and stands for something
Guys are planing a meeting in London tomorrow at Trafalgar Sqr, 100+ people already confirmed they are coming
uuum yea.. forgot to mention..
One of the previous X Factor winners is supporting the campaign
So as Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), numerous of other people and radio stations

This.
Why does anyone care in the first place?

Watch first few minutes of the Radio 5 performance and you'll hear why
If that doesn't work then go back to the imaginary world

It would be much easier if you could summarize the first 5 minutes for me, that sounds like a lot of work.

Good on him. I like how he started leaving out the f-ck you, but then added it at the end. That's the ENTIRE point.

So, it's about sending a message to the man? But what message would that be?
"We are not fans of your musical acts"?
"The music charts are nothing but a carefully orchestrated marketing exercise"?
"Today pop music is so shit we have to challenge it with a 17 year old song"?
"You are a dick" or what?
I really don't understand the idea behind it. 2 bandwagons, that's all.

I always love when people claim that a form of music is not music and that their music is superior. Ever heard of an opinion? If I wanted to I could say all modern "music" is bad and say classical and opera are the only real forms of music and your rage stuff sucks. But our taste in music is what we call an opinion. Stop trying to push it on other people.

It was a symbolic protest. In the end, it makes no difference to anyone (except the X-Factor "star" I guess) who has the #1 song at Christmas.
It's purely this: Simon Cowell said, "here's your Christmas #1 single. Buy it." The general public responded with "f--k you, I won't do what you tell me."
Fact: Cowell is still rich.

Eeer... news flash for you. We just proved our point so basically we said what is what. Especially when we were backed up by Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney, Sting, Prodigy and plenty others
Karaoke winners should stay where their place is - in Karaoke bar
Irkutsk it's not necessarily very close to the UK so I presume you haven't got a clue who Joe McElderry and the machine behind him are
I'm not in a mood to discuss music matters with a person who can't be asked to click a link and watch/listen to 3mins of it. Or someone else who's music contribution is buying 1 CD every 2 years and downloading 50Gb of mp3 from p2p in the meantime
Anyway thank you for your very constuctive opinion which is ok in 99% of the cases. But not this time.
