well that is more of a party than I ever got (for my high school graduation we watched tv, went to grad, then went back home for more tv....college---went out to lunch with my bf-now hubby...yep not one for parties either).

yeah, think I got that--the food was pretty good-----

well now its cold again and been raining like the flood is gonna happen.....very strange weather this year, yes. Makes for some re-planning of out door activities...though the car got a free wash

but does make for some good sleeping weather---a nap sounds good right about now......

Let's see, I pay £1.36 per litre for gas, mulitply by 3.78 gives you £5.14 per US gallon.

Convert £ to $ and you get $8.31 per gallon.

yeah and how far do you have to drive to get to work? the average commute over here is like 30-40 minutes (my sister does almost an hour)....and the idiots over here are still making dumb cars with horrible gas mileage (not to mention suv's.....) I am still waiting for the nice little car I saw in japan at the toyota plant to make it over here---no need to have a huge car if I am just going to the doctors or post office.

and yes I will continue to complain---how much vacation time do you get? my last job I had to work a full year before I got my 4 days off (and no paid holidays either). Wont even go into the stupid insurance system we have here and the humongous deductibles.....

think I am going to move to canada.

That is because so many people want the SUV's and not the "cute" little practical cars. I personally have a little Toyota Camry made in '94 that gets 30 mpg. SUV's today pride themselves on getting 20 mpg. Pretty sad. Little cars atm are definitely more practical than SUV's, trucks, vans, etc.

the whole isalnds of england/ireland/wales/scotland/northern ireland would fit into a small part of the upper east coast of the usa (from about new york north--)....try driving from say london to say paris daily for work (no trains).

Superior public transport? I've worked for London Underground for 27 years and the longer I'm there the less superior it gets. The damn thing shuts down for maintenance most weekends and the only day of the year that we get a 24 hour service is December 31st.

As far as the national rail system is concerned, it costs more for a peak journey from London to Edinburgh than it does for a flight to Spain.

Holidays, Cosy? Have some of mine. That's the one thing London Underground does well. I get 52 days holiday per year - that's over 10 weeks - at full pay. I'd rather have more money, to be honest.

Also: I'll bet I use more gas on a 20 mile trip into London than you do on a 200 mile commute. The average traffic speed across London is 16.9 mph. In the peak, it's 10mph.

I have spent 3 hours trying to go 5 miles in 'rush' hour...which is why when I worked I refused to work 'normal' business hours. (there were plenty of times it took me more time to get to work and drive home than I spent AT work

)....many times I could have walked home faster than traffic was moving.

every other country does holiday pay and vacations better than the usa---here you dont get them for being an employee--you have to EARN them......and yeah we would all like to have more money--we dont get that here either.

oy, we really do need to get off the oil--its the base of this problem.....did you know that the first cars did NOT use gasoline??? it was only used because it was easy to get, there are PLENTY of alternatives out there----- we need to get our collective tushes in gear and get using those alternatives!

oy, its not that bad...we are just 'discussing' gas prices and what our countries are doing about it---which in the usa is letting the speculators do as they please and the peasants be damnned.....
(yeah I am a wee bit upset about it---even if I were to get a job right now I would LOSE money just getting to it by having to put gas in my car)

oy another monday...need to get packing.......wednesday comes soon enough---

Well the season finale of Chuck is on. Awesome! I love this show. It's great.

I might travel up north this weekend to see my gf one last time before she leaves for NM. She is leaving me again for the summer.

She went away last summer too. It's for an internship for the company that is paying for her Master's degree. So ya, can't really not do it. And yes, my cornfield shall grow. lol

This summer? Oh, well I'm working a full time job as well before I start my real job in the fall.

interships are good things---lots of peeps I went to college with got jobs from the companies they did theirs with....and it puts xp on your resume----always a good thing.

lol Sounds like Student Teaching drained all my money because I had no income while having to pay high gas prices on my 25 minute commute. Yup. So I need to get money so that I can pay for rent and get groceries before I get my first real job pay check. It's all very complicated...
