What is this so called "CD rom drive"? I am confused. j/k
Somedays I hate parents... Not my own, my students. I changed a students grade for a presentation yesterday because his dad came in and talked to me. The student had incorrectly saved his powerpoint, thus he did not have the right one for his presentation. I had seen the correct presentation on Friday but the student failed to save it correctly. Really I shouldn't have changed it at all because it was student error. But I changed it giving the student the points back for the requirements, content and one other area. Brought the student from a low F to a high D. Was that enough for the parent? Nope. Now the parent wants me to give the student extra credit work so that he can bring his grade up. The kid got the grade he deserved as it combined them actually presenting it as well. Which the presentation was pretty terrible. Freaking aggravating. He told me that I was asking his child to be a "computer engineer"... Are you RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing kidding me? I asked him to SAVE it in the right LOCATION! Sorry that I asked too much of him! My bad bro! Next time I will just do the presentation for him! Oh and here is some extra credit so that he can get a 200% in the class! Your kid RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed up, he needs to deal with the consequences. ><

actually I do believe that kids need to be computer savvy to exist in school, so yeah you ARE asking the kid to learn, gee aint that what school is 4????
and azzer, you can get low priced cd rom drives---you dont need all the bells, whistles and burners out there....and you CAN use it on a newer computer if you get a new one.
(I have my hubbys old cd rom drive as mine ate a disk and wont give it back--even with 3 IT guys playing with it--yes we have tried everything except tearing it apart piece by pieces---so yeah you can reuse them, they arent tied to the computer they are part of, heck mine-exhubby's-is outside the case, sitting on top of it actually......)
being domestic today, laundry and cleaning, yuk.

You would think that, but apparently not. My coordinating teacher also thinks that the parent was trying to bully me into giving his child a higher grade since I compromised the first time around. I sent an email back saying that is as much as I will do and if the student wants to bring his overall grade up he has plenty of opportunities coming up. I haven't received a response yet and I sent it 8 hours ago or so.
Welp, had an interview today. I think it went alright, they want to see me teach a few classes there in the next couple of weeks. So I think that will be the determining factor. Next interview is in less than a week now, that one with a high school.
Random item for the day, The Guild is now on Netflix streaming. It's true.

out of loop --never heard of program called the guild....
good to hear at least SOMEone is doing well on interviews, half of my family is unemployed.......
parents will try just about anything to get their delinquent kids grades improved I guess.
finishing up my 2nd load of laundry for the day...then making dinner, I really do hate being domestic somedays......got hubbys computer working (we think) so thats good.
random bad thing of the day: mailman said they are changing the routes yet again (think they do this every other year it seems) and yes he will no longer be our mail carrier; says our street is going to be added onto the end of some big route that goes on a major road (business side of town) and hits the 2 old peeps homes.....no idea who our new carrier will be

The one with Felicia Day in it? People used to post videos about it all the time... Or maybe that was on Guru2... Don't remember, been too long of a day.
Sorry that you are getting a new mailman.
Some parents will, others could give two shits about their kids grades.

I dont watch vids on my computer (I dont believe in internet security, really)...no youtube, no facebook, none of it---and have not been on guru2 since last year sometime (not planning on buying the game and WHEN it comes out in beta I will think about reading it then....perhaps see what its about, but its just too dang early to think about something that far away).
yep, parents run the gambit from micromanaging their kids to not caring if they live or die and every thing in between (mine only worried if I got a C--unless it was PE......then they understood.)
pasta for dinner with artichokes, olives and tomatoes...was tasty. (gotta give the dinner report )

Cosy, i can barely afford my food most months, so no matter how much it is, i prefer food over a computer thing i must admit :P
Me parents was fine enough, they catered to my intelligence but not too much for me to get bigheaded, my school however kept saying "he's so smart he must become something" and so on.
Stupid schools.
Cosy, we would love to play with ya in GW 2, even if we don't know it's you <3

I watch commentary's on games I play but that is about it. I prefer my shows to be on TV.
My parents did a good job. They cared about my grades and wanted me to do well but if I came home with a bad grade they let me know it was MY fault, not anyone elses. They made me take responsibility for bad grades and didn't bother my teachers about it. That could be because they are both teachers though...
I had pizza for dinner last night. Was nice to come home and my mom was making pizza. Especially after a long day.

I was number 6...by the time I was born my parents had a list of things I could do, things I would never be allowed (even if I begged), things that I will do, etc (and by then my parents had heard and seen just about every trick in the book)...so very little leeway. Lucky for me I had a sibling close to my age and we did play together for a bit of time, though that changed as she decided hanging out with an older sister was cool and not so cool to have little ugly sister hanging around.
Seeing as most of my siblings graduated in either the top of the class or close enough to it (me and one brother did not)....my parents were ok with my schooling and didnt take much notice as I found it easy almost to the point of boring.
azzer, gee, sorry to hear about that...but you could get a used cd rom that should work as well (or get yours fixed?)
and seeing as I probably wont be capable of playing gw2 you wont see me around---the graphics changes etc I wont be able to deal with (MOST video games make me physically ill to watch let alone play--gw2 is looking that way, so even if I want to play it, I probably wont be able to). Gw had that problem a bit when I started, and I still get nauseous when I rubberband or twirl around too much....I have to stop playing for that day (and sometimes the next or so)...to let my body relax. I will try the beta and if it makes me ill....then I wont be buying it.

I don't know if I will get GW2 either. It will have to be something pretty special for me to get it. Just have lost interest in MMORPG's over time.

Probably end up giving GW2 a miss myself. Looks a lot of effort to play.
I'm gonna stick with Football Manager 2011.

WTF! Malice? Shit... This place has been ruined! You bastard!
Whats up Malice? Haven't seen you around in forever!
This polar bear went into hibernation and then woke up in a completely different place. The bear definitely looked like it was like "WTF is this?!?!" when they first show it. lol

Oh my god, another person who plays football manager.
Hmmmm, i like that GW2 is so different than all other MMORPGS out there, plus most of the stuff really seems quite interesting, atleast to me, but i do understand that some won't play it.

Ya, my gaming time will be drastically diminished. Sad sad thought...
It was a link from weather.com... I think they are pretty trustworthy. But I understand your hesitation.
Friday! Thank goodness! Need a weekend right now...

you can never be too trusting with links (with my no script loaded lots of those sites wont even LOAD ---and have had issues with weather.com in the past and their ads).
yes it is friday (or so my computer says)...have a list of stuff I am supposed to do this weekend, but have misplaced it (and my memory card seems to be on the blink right now---)....so we shall see if anything gets done.....didnt finish all I wanted to get done this week (never got the car over to the brake place----)
ah oh well....not doing so well today, had horrible dizzy spells last night so didnt get much sleep .....hope to take something to calm it and take a nice long nap------

Ya I'm with RR on this. I have a ton of protection on my comp ever since I got a virus that made me have to reformat. Much more cautious since then.
I'll look at the link tomorrow RR, too tired atm.
