Reactor is dead and gone for good. This past one was the last, which they announced after the con. I can't say I'm surprised, considering they managed to get themselves kicked out of just about every location they were at.
I went to Reactor the first two years, in 2003 and 2004. It was pretty fun the first year, though there wasn't much planned and it was fairly disorganized. The second year it turned more into a party con, and then just got worse from there. I definitely remember the masquerade that year - we entered it, with a huge skit that had a ton of people involved. We were winning by a long shot over all the other groups...until another group bribed the judges with alcohol. Guess who won - it wasn't us. I've seen it referred to as "less a convention and more an experiment in how badly drunken anime fans can destroy a hotel in three days". There've been a lot of guests from Reactor that have gotten themselves banned from other cons because of their behaviour there, too.
ACen is still going strong, though. I've been going since 2003 and have been on staff since 2006, I'm currently the ADH for tabletop gaming. A lot of my cosplay friends don't go to the con anymore (half of them don't even live around here anymore), and going alone isn't much fun, so that's why I made the switch over to staff. I'll be honest, at this point, I don't think I can go back to simply attending a convention. I have far too much fun working behind the scenes and running them. Besides, I can still dress up and stuff while there, and even though I can't enter the masquerade anymore, my friends and I already won awards in it back in 2004 so no big deal

yep that sums it up....I did some cosplay back ......and offered to be on staff then as well. When reactor started up I was already gone (went to live in japan)....so by the time I returned I had no idea what was going on and I wasnt around there anyways so...yeah. Not tooo sad to see that reactor is gone (considering the reasons it began in the first place)....though the heyday of conventions is over for me.....used to go to windy con and capricon in the 80's ....even ran a gaming convention (or 3) when I lived in Boise......
just dont get out to these things anymore.

I kind of like going to conventions. I went to comic-con in Boston last year, it was small compared to NYC and San Diego, but it was cool.

my hubby used to go to the one in LA....anime expo....got used to waiting in lines (some of them could be thousands of people long).....(shivers).....tooo many people for me in one place (I never went....LA is not my kind of place anyways---so he enjoyed his 'own' vacations)...even went to the first anime expo in Tokyo ...was a let down for sure.
back to my subject...made chicken curry for dinner....I think living in japan ruined me for life---I still love japanese type foods

then its NOT a cold....the duration of the common cold is usually 7-10 days ( hubby had his for 12).....something lasting more than 3 weeks is .....something else and should be checked out by a doctor.
though.....taking vitamins and drinking plenty of fluids and getting a good night sleep will always make you feel better (so listen to your mom!)

Mine is usually really bad for 3 days and then I start to improve. I take vitamins every day, try to get at least 8 hours of sleep each night and drink about a liter of water each day. So I try to stay healthy but I need to get back to working out. But 6am is just so early...
So I got to create an exothermic reaction today during my science methods class, we used Calcium Chloride and Phenol Red. So now I was watching the History Channel and apparently that is how the self-heating can works. A "puck" allows the consumer to mix a liquid with CaCl2 to create the exothermic reaction to heat the liquid in the can... oO
So today was trivia day at the school I am at. So I made up a Jeopardy powerpoint to use since they have smart boards. Kids loved it, was a real blast.

Haven't yet had dinner, I only just got back from class about half an hour ago...
And yeah, if you've had a cold for that long, it might be worth getting it checked out. A few years ago I had what I thought was a bad cold that lingered for over a month. Turns out I had pneumonia.
So. If you had to create a Valentine's card avoiding all of the cliche stuff (hearts, red, poetry, flowers, etc), what would you do? That's our current project for one of my design classes and I'm mostly drawing blanks for ideas. I've got two so far; a zombie holding out a human heart that says "I hope you like this", or a human stomach that says "Oops, wrong organ. But you get the idea anyway".

Seems like everyone is getting sick. I know a few people out sick today and one girl out with a sinus infection.
I always get sick in the beginning of spring for some odd reason.

Ya that is what happens this time of year... I know why I am, with how busy I have been getting situated with classes and novicing I have overstressed and overworked myself. It happens. Oh well...
Possible allergies Jumping? That could explain why it is the same time every year.

actually my husband gets sick when the weather changes .....your body isnt used to the new changes (so yes stress again) which allows it to be open for virus and such.
jeopardy??? wow in japan I used to play that game with the kids....had to use some very easy english stuff, but it was the game that went over the best.
verene "I just would like to say from the core of my being how much I really appreciate your being with me" for the art part-a planet that has lots of greens and plants growing on it. (sorry havent had to 'think' in quite some time)

Verene, perhaps this may help as it is the pagan holiday upon which Vaentine's Day may be based.

Ya that is true. People get colds in the summer too, which seems odd but it is from walking in and out of air conditioning. The weather may not change but your environment does.
Ya it is a great game if you implement it right. The kids get into it really quickly.
So who wants to be sick for me?
