Since you mentioned Peoria and hot in the same thought cosy, I'm assuming you are talking about Peoria in Arizona? I don't know what the weather is like in Illinois.
So glad it's getting below 100 degrees tomorrow....summer sucks

Peoria, Illinois....seems you have never been there in the summer---think of florida, without the view or palm trees, the humidity is horrible and that summer the temps were well into the 90's...think we might have even hit 100....7 times according to the 'ask tom' site....47 days in the 90's....it was miserable that year. An art project that I had glued together fell apart (was very strange to find it in pieces in my hubby's apt).
Arizona is hot but dry---I lived in Idaho which has/had similar weather, it could be 100 outside, but without the humidity it doesnt feel as hot as 85 in chicago!
Still the worst was/in Japan...100 with 80% humidity...it was soo humid there that my stainless steel shoehorn RUSTED 3 weeks after I moved there! (visited my mom in florida during my first summer in japan---thought it was COOL in florida when the temp had passed 95!)
sorry for my weather stories....
but yeah illinois not arizona.
and pwnd if you lived in peoria in 1988 I lived in both the quad cities and normal that year (at the same time..) so I took....uhm I-74? every weekend between the two....
havent seen a 100 degree day since I left japan (and thanks no need to either).

Yup, I-74 would do that for ya.
In Illinois Neo it is the humidity that is killer. There have been some extremely hot summer for Illinois standards but it is usually due to humidity. oO

I once was driving through Missouri and southern Illinois and it was the worst humidity I ever experienced.

Humidity kills all the fun on a hot day. But humidty on a tropical island pwns anything in the US. I went island hopping in the Philippines this summer and it was always well above 90's and the humidity made me want to cry. And a person coming from the New England area does not get use to hot weathers easily (I <3 blizzards ).
Just thinking about Philippines now is a such a downer. They are getting flooded over there and its a total chaos, it has been just a couple of weeks since I was there.

It's true, the humidity is just terrible. Not fun at all.
No fishing trip this year for fall break... My uncle who owns the condo and boat we go fishing in and with got promoted to CEO of the company he works for. So he will be out of the country that week... Now time to find new plans for Fall Break next weekend. Possibly going to my gfs?

Can't you call your uncle and ask to borrow the boat and go fishing? On top of that I've never heard of a fall break before. Most breaks occur on Thanksgiving and the unofficial break on Halloween.

We get fall break because we only get 3 days off for Thanksgiving and no public school holidays. So we get 2 days off for a "fall break". And my dad doesn't want to take the boat out since it is a tight fit into the garage where it is parked.

I must agree us New Englanders (for the most part) dislike humidity. There is nothing better than a New England North Easter blizzard. 1978 we had 45 inches in about 2-3 days and everything shut down for a week.

I was not alive for the 1978 Nor'easter, but Ive heard about how bad it was. I do remember getting a huge blizzard around the mid 90's that shut schools for a week. What made it epic was we got all that snow on April Fool's day.

ah the blizzaards of the northern usa....I remember a few, 78 was bad for new york (buffalo if memory serves me, had it really really bad) Chicago was '79...and then we had some really COLD winters....82 or 83?? wind chills at -84....yep they have some real weather around the great lakes.
Worst was 67....my dad got stuck downtown chicago for 3 days while they dug out the city.....my brothers jumped out of the 2nd story window into the piles of snow that was our driveway (which was only about 3 feet below the window).....
and there was one winter... 87/88???? where they closed the college (augustana) I attended due to snow--the teachers couldnt get to school--no teachers=no classes. I was student teaching at the time ....I had to walk to the school I was at (in 3 feet of snow)....took me a long time to get there....wasnt fun. (it wasnt closed )
its either tooooooooooooooooo hot or toooooooooo cold or snowing....thats why I moved in the first place! (cant say I miss it either).

Oh summer... how I miss you...
I don't remember those cold summers. I remember a few where we had severe ice storms around here. Those were bad, breaking power lines and all that junk. Clean up in the spring was not fun... Last winter was freaking cold too. We had some -40 degree wind chill days. >.>

yup thats weather in the midwest....some years are hot, some are cold, some are ok, some are just bleh.
But at least it keeps it interesting, some places have the same weather all the time, or like clockwork the season change----boring.
curry for dinner, yummy....going to bed early tonight...lots to do tomorrow.

It was cold here during June because it rained for most of the month until mid-July.

It was cool all summer really. Hardly ever hit 85F during the summer. Which is quite strange.
