had chicken and rice for dinner tonight (you know I always talk about food), and was just eating some chocolate with some peanut butter (poor mans reeces....ok, lady-who-doesnt-have-any-in-the-house's reeces)...but not quite the same....

called my friend....sushi on saturday, am on my own for dinner tonight.....maybe some kfc or pizza again......though tortellini is stuck in my brain.

sushi is a term for a type of appetizer (loosely translating here)...its like asking how can you eat chips?
there are different types of 'sushi' as you know it.
one is sashimi...or just the plain old fishes by them selves (yes usually raw)
2nd is nigiri....which is the fish (or other things like omelets) over a piece of rice usually with some wasabi hiding under the fish
3nd is maki...which are rolls with rice (and these dont necessarily need to be raw...you can have vegetables like cucumber and daikons...and MOST of the time the shrimp is cooked). The american 'california roll' is one of these...COOKED shrimp with avacado and cucumber wrapped in rice and nori (thats seaweed and its good for you)....another popular one is the "Philadelphia roll" which is SMOKED salmon with cream cheese and cucumber surrounded by rice and nori. My husbands favorite is a shrimp tempura roll....so yeah the shrimp is tempura'd first then put with other veggies in the roll.....I like the scallop tempura roll better.
(there are others types of sushi but they are basically just variations of the above)

so I have no problems with raw fish....since MOST fish when its cooked to me tastes like catfood....raw it has a flavor that is completely lost when its cooked (yes I like steak tartar as well)....what I have a problem with is raw fish that is not properly taken care of! Dont just go to the local grocery store and expect to get sushi grade fish...most of theirs have been thawed and frozen soooo many times ....ewwww how can you eat THAT stuff (even cooked??????)

sorry have had this discussion with lots of people who .....well these are the same people who say you have to cook pork until its dead 3 times over............maybe back during WWII now our food supply is much more carefully watched over (and not by the fda...what a laugh)....

now what's your problem with sushi again?

Speaking of fish, had fish and chips from a chippy near my mate's house...

The fish didn't even taste like fish. It tasted more like biting into a bag of lard with the texture of hard jelly.
