I have a question.
I was reading regina's talk page on wiki, and came across someone claiming that guru's ads have virus/trojan. I am not implying anything okay. I just want to know so I don't do the stupid thing and get a virus/trojan.
what I want to know is, if an ad pop up, no matter what webpage you are currently browsing, if you do not touch the pop up ad window , instead click the check box to close the ads, will one get infected by virus/trojan doing that?
that is one hard to form question.

yeah i know what you mean and yeah you can still get them, not the virus but the ad/trojen. It's all depend on what kind of trojen as well, some will get on your pc as soon as you load the page up some will fool you into installing the stuff.
Hence, it always a good idea to do a weekly scan. And no, i never get anything bad from guru. Use firefox with adblock plus addon, it's awesome.

If you close the window, you should be ok pumpkin. We've had issues with the embedded ads on the webpages having malicious code in them. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do about those, since we have to trust that the advertiser won't put bad things in their ads.
The best thing you can do is buy/find a high quality virus scanner as well as some anti-malware programs. The guys in Technician's Corner should be able to point you in the right direction as far as that goes.

hey, thanks, that help alot, I always close them even before they get a chance to load, but it usually does not pop up if I sign in, the ads only pop ups after I clear the browsers cache, when I have to login to guru.
I am using avg free now and spybot search and destroy, and cccleaner, I am thinking not to be cheap anymore and pay for more protection. Is Kaspersky Anti Virus a good virus program?
How does the virus program works, I mean after you purchase the program, it comes with free update right? or it's like a yearly subscription? I don't fully understand when they say on the box, "comes with a year of free virus database update" (or something along that line).
believe it or not I run virus check atleast 2 times a week, and does cccleaner and spybot search and destroy almost everyday.

Scan it once a week will do.
Most of the anti-virus have real time protection, meaning it will act when it detects any recognized threat. As for the "a year of free virus database update" is pretty much what it said. You will get a fully working and update for anti-virus of choice.
But after a year if you do not renew it, some or most of its function will stop working. No update, can not scan etc.

Be careful with ccleaner. You can serious mess up your system if you play with some of the more advanced options.
Etta is correct about the updates. There are tons of threads in Tech Corner about the best antivirus solutions. AVG isn't bad though. A better choice that a lot of the ones out there.

lol That comic is win! I'm amazed that someone who locked themselves out of the house is able to find such a thing.
I love my CCleaner, but I just let it run as normal and I don't mess with any settings.
I personally am using avast! and have had great success with it. It is much better then other virus protection softwares that I have had. Of course they were Norton, McAffe, and Symantec... >.>
