Naps definitely can be great. Got one in before I headed over to my folks for dinner. And watched football. First game was great, second game, not so much. Blowout. Meh.

been nice the last few days...a few flurries, but otherwise nothing bad weatherwise.
got a nice nap in today too, really love to nap
and my cold is basically gone--a cough remains but its only when I wake up, so not much of a problem. Hope your cold is getting better too.

Ya hasn't been too shabby. Hope the weather stays nice through the weekend. Might be getting some rain/snow showers this Sunday though...
It's Thursday! Hooray! Means tomorrow is Friday. These short weeks always feel so long...

My wife loves getting massages as well. They always make her so much more relaxed.
Can we complain about the weather now? Went up to visit my wife this weekend and today sucked driving back. At least the roads were okay. Only one road was really bad. But not fun.
January has but one week left. And I got my W-2 the other day... Woo. Sad to see that $10,000 went to taxes and such... Basically a 4th of my salary gone for that. Oh well.

yeah, hubby said the roads were bad last night (and there was a bunch of emergency vehicles on our road that he had to go the long way around to get home)....not too much snow, but turned icy when it got cooler.
So you got to see the Mrs again this weekend, that's nice--hope you had some 'time' together!
yeah, tax time---when I see what is left of my hubby's salary...its just over half of what he earns (fed taxes, state taxes, fica/ssi/medicare, and then insurances--life, health, dental etc)....makes me rather depressed as well, especially since we wont get much of it back from them either (wave by-bye to the fica/ssi/medicare, even though I am getting close to the age to actually receive them, will never see what we've paid in). They try to make you feel better by allowing you to put more into your ira when you get older....when I see what my ira is earning I am not feeling any better.

I saw 2 cars off the road in my 3 hour trip, so not terrible. But I'm sure it got worse late once it all started to freeze.
And here since we are in debt they just take more money and then not give it back. All that stuff I've been paying into teachers retirement system? I'll probably never see it because the government took from it and never paid it back. Go team...

yeah, dont get to see much of it back...never will see medicare/ssi and insurance (what a racket).....and the paltry amount we get back on taxes...well, we use to pay our property taxes! (nothing like getting a nice check and then an even larger bill )
got more snow today....and I think they said more this week...again I think I am glad I dont live out east---they are supposed to get a really nice storm (if my chiro's assistant is correct).

Pretty sad how all that works out. Lots of stuff that we pay into we may never benefit from. That and even when you have to use your insurance they make it super hard on you... It's like I've paid you thousands of dollars over the years and you don't want to drop a grand or so to fix my car? Gee thanks...
They are supposed to get pounded by a storm. Kinda wish that was hitting here tonight. I could use another few days off.

yep yep....and if you do use your car insurance either they will drop you or raise your rate to an extreme level. Wont even talk about 'health' insurance--only have hit my deductible twice (and wont even tell you what it cost to have that ---).
no thanks on the snow...we have enough for it to look like winter, plenty for me! (and I will remind you of that post when you complain about having to go to school on days you would have had off ----)......
made homemade shumai last night (even made the wonton wrappers myself), they tasted ok, but I dont think I will be getting any job offers for my wrappers (they did start looking pretty dang good towards the end)....now I want some shrimp tempura.

Hi Off-topic thread. Been about 5 years since I last posted!
Edit: You guys talk about weather a lot. It's actually sunny today. Mornings have been foggy. At least I sit by a window at work.

O.o Wow, d4! Man I still remember you! How the heck have you been?
We do talk about weather a lot. Cause we both experience it. So something in common.
Insurance must be a nice paycheck when you make sure you only allow those who don't have a history of accidents on your insurance... You just keep raking in the dough.

I've been good. Brief recap: went to college, got my bachelor's in computer science, bummed around for a year and a half, got a job in tech support, married my long term girlfriend, got a better job at the same company. That about covers it! How about yourself?

Similar story, different degree, and no bumming around. Went to college, got my biology degree with my education certification to teach. Been teaching high school science for 4 years now and married my long term girlfriend as well. Of course she got a job 3 hours away from me the week school started so we have been living apart for the past 5 months now. I'll be leaving my job in search of a new one after this year. So that should be "fun." Finding the new job that is, I am very much looking forward to being able to live with my wife again.

I'm sure you've done a lot more than nothing.
And Pwned - the bumming around wasn't by choice. I had hardly anything going for me after I graduated, so it was impossible finding a job for that time. Finally got one though, so whatever!
And sucks about the long distance. I did that with my now-wife for the first four years we were together. It ended up working out okay in the end . Definitely wouldn't want to do it again.

no, I have done nothing of value in years---unemployeeeed, been modding here since 08, playing guildwars....otherwise a big ole goose egg on the time front.
yeah I can understand the after graduation bumming....after college I took an extra year to get my ed degree (undergrad), but didnt finish due to getting ill during student teaching---so after leaving school, my (now) hubby and I 'bummed' around for a year (he was applying to grad schools at the time and took us a year to get him into one)....so we did craappy jobs for a year (worse than McD!--it was the 80's recession time)...and then moved to his grad school.
also did the distance thing for 2 years while I worked in japan....been 10 years since I got back, havent done much since then though.
oh well, been having fun playing guildwars

I figured it wasn't, its a popular field right now so not a whole lot of jobs out there.
My wife and I always had a long distance relationship during the summer months since she lived 3 hours away. But like yours, ours worked out in the end too. Couldn't be happier about that.
Secondary Ed degrees tend to take an extra year unless you take interim and summer classes. Essentially it's a double major. Now what they are making students do in order to get their licenses in teaching is absolutely ridiculous. So many extra hoops to jump through now. Glad I got mine before they put those into place...

Yeah I didn't think about job competition at the time. Oh well, having work experience on a resume adds way more to a resume than almost anything else, so I'm fine now.
I'm glad you guys made it work! I'm not sure I'd be able to go back to long distance after moving in with my wife without getting into some more alternative lifestyles. I'd get too lonely.
@Cosy: Modding and enjoying a hobby you're passionate about, as well as having other time to spend with your partner isn't a poor use of time at all. I wish I had more of that!
