the front already came thru here, so it wasnt too warm today. Even had some more rain too.
Got part of a nap, so happy about that. Like naps too much, even did them when I worked (came home, napped for an hour or so, made dinner, ....)

Sorry to hear that you have that 'work' thing again...but at least you got a bit of a summer vacation (just think about the poor slobs who work every week ...like my hubby, and get a measly 5-10 days of vacation/sick a year!).

It rained a bit in the afternoon, but no real storms. Just some thunder.

Ya I am definitely glad I have a summer. Pretty sure if there was no summer teachers would go crazy. And there would be no real dividing line between each school year. I don't think the kids would feel like they completed anything. Going straight from one grade to the next, ,or from high school to college a week after graduating.

that is the way they do it in japan...school year starts end of march/beginning of april and goes until obon (summer break from about july 20-end of august) with a 2 week break at new years (and the emperors birthday on the 23rd of december), concluding with tests the 2nd week of march (and graduation for the 8th graders and high schoolers)....no big break unless you count obon which is when its about 100+ out with 80%+ humidity (and when they used to all do the harvesting).
AND
they give them homework between grades as well (you get your new teacher before your year is over)...the only time they dont have homework is when they change schools (grade school to jh and jr to hs).
Kids over here have it easy! (not to mention most teachers over there are also responsible for a club after school too, and have more authority over the kids than ours do here).

so the next time your kids complain about the summer vacation being too short ...inform them that its good they dont live in japan!

I've heard of some schools doing something where they have 2 week breaks every other month or something and then a bit of a longer break for "summer" somehow. I just like having a bit of a longer break, though having 2 weeks off every like 6 or 9 weeks would be nice as well.

The kids complain about everything, all the time, no matter what. It's life.

Hai kat. Cosy and I try to keep it lively in here. Though it is less so now that I have started work again.

This is offtopic, so weather, food, and stuff is allowed in our eyes.

My life is starting back up, though I still check here 3 times a day maybe. In the morning, when I get home, and then again before I go to bed.

havent talked about food in some time...I must have been sick!

corn, yum! cant wait for the corn harvest...love the stuff especially on the cob with tons of butter! I remember when I lived in boise there was a summer festival that had a corn on the cob stand (their booth was in the shape of an ear of corn), they would roast the corn in the husk and when ready would pull back the husk and dip them in a big can of melted butter, then you could put stuff like parmesan cheese on top (or just butter for me!)...oy, I miss that festival (also had some of the best lemonaide too---their booth was in the shape of a lemon

)

It's okay cosy, sometimes I wish I had no life...

Haven't had much good food really. Today for lunch they cooked pork chops out for us, which were pretty good. So that was nice. But otherwise it has been pretty meh.

Corn on the cob is great. Really good stuff.

had a few nice days again...no rain and just enough heat, what a nice summer its been for the last few weeks.

had my corn the other night...ah soo nice to get fresh corn (even though I had to pay more than it was worth

)....should be cheaper soon (I hope).

It is supposed to warm up the next few days. Getting close to the 90's by midweek. Thank goodness work has air conditioning...

Cheaper is good... I like cheaper.

yeah a bit warmer, but geesh, it could be soo much hotter (again NOT complaining this year!).

had turkey tacos for dinner..homemade of course! (had ground turkey so it was picked for the tacos...if I had had bison or beef or....I would have picked that, but turkey it better for us anyways).

Why did you have to mention gas? Now it is sure to skyrocket...

My brother says it has been in the 90's all week in LA, so I guess we can be glad that it was only in the 80's here.

We had leftovers because the burgers weren't unfrozen yet. :/ Oh well. Burgers tonight.

yeah, that was part of the reason we had the tacos yesterday (meat wasnt thawed on friday)....

Ya am sure that they will find some 'excuse' to raise the price of gas yet again (someone sneezed and we had to close the refinery....wait, think they already used that one).

They always find an excuse. Just another reason why we haven't seen gas dip below $3 in many many many years. Super disappointing when you see the oil companies consistently in the top 10 grossing companies world wide. They talk about how they have to sell it at that price because of the price of oil. Nope. They don't. They are making off like thieves...

We are doing burgers here, since we didn't do them yesterday. Tomorrow is leftovers, but that is okay because we have a lot of them.

had to eat in the bar

Packed on a Monday? Hmm. That is kind of surprising. Friday and Saturday I can see, but Monday? Interesting...

I think I have two ideas why it might have been so busy....they are one of the few restuarants actually open on a monday with good food (not counting fast food or pizza or bar type joints), and they recently added a crab legs 'all you can eat' type thing to monday (though from our spot in the bar area right outside of the kitchen I didnt see many crabs coming out or live ones going in----).
if those aint it ...then idunno.

That would make sense. I forgot a fair amount of places are closed on Mondays. Usually they are really great places as well. And the crab legs could definitely make a difference.

Well Tuesday done. Just a few more days and then the first full week of school will be done.
