Ya yesterday and today would be bad days to be working on a roof. Rained pretty much from the afternoon on yesterday. Supposed to rain all day today. Oh well.

well I think they got the skylight finished...doesnt look any different (and all it really needed was a good cleaning...but gee, lets replace it instead, I wonder if these idiots replace their cars when they need a good washing).
did some shopping with the hubby...and ate out--bad mistake, we are both sick from it (too much salt for me, and he thinks he is becoming lactose intolerant).
supposed to be nice for a few more days!!

What a shame a nice treat ended badly. Hope the shopping was fun and yay for the skylight being finished.
All the windows in my house need cleaning, if I could get away with replacing them instead I might go for it. Actually everything needs cleaning - time to get my mum over for a visit :P

please send her my way when she is done with your place!
yeah as we are getting on in years, things just dont quite work the same way the once did...aging is ...a mean and nasty trick!
at least we dont have to clean our windows either--since technically we dont even OWN them (and I love getting the garbage mail asking if we want to replace our: gutters, windows, roof...and then the lawn people--I dont own a lawn!)

lol I'm with cosy on that. Send your mom to my apartment. I'd be happy to let her clean the place, especially the windows!
I can't talk much about age. Being only 24 and stuff. Which I am a-okay with.

Two months from today, the first day of winter. In my early 20s, I lived in the mountains. It would be nothing to see the snow start falling as the sunset and wake up to 4 or 5 feet on the ground. Didn't mind it too much then, but now, just an inch or so is enough at a time.
Meanwhile, I have a birthday to plan for. My wife joins the 50 something group. Need to find a way to make it special.
Almost forgot, three of the grandkids spending the night tonight. Has been awhile since they have been here overnight. Hope they can handles us. lol

The more snow the merrier? Didn't get a whole lot of snow last year, which was kinda sad. Don't want snow this year. If we get to many snow days we lose our spring break... New administration figured out how to weasel us out of our normal week long spring break. Promised every Friday off after Easter. Doesn't start until 3 weeks after Easter. The last Friday off is after we are already supposed to be done with school... Not cool.
50 something? Not I. Not yet. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not next week.

fridays off? for school kids??? bet the parents arent very keen on that one (if both mom and dad work that means they have to find someplace for the kiddies on those fridays).
I remember back when----, the schools always planned on at least 3 snow days (back when we had lots of snow...eg the blizzards of 67, 79...et, al)....so the date they would give you for the last day of school was INCLUDING those...if we didnt use any, then school got out earlier for the summer!
then again we went to school well into June.
50? I can see that from here not too far up the road. (that also means all of my siblings are well INTO theirs ...not to mention some will be into their 60's!)
but those thoughts are for a different year.
got lots of cleaning done today (the spirit of Aeronwen's mom must have come to visit us while she slept) and enjoyed the last few days of nice enough weather to have the outside balcony door open ....yes soon the S word will be flying around

Ya. Not a fan of the idea myself. Cause we have a definite possibility of being jipped out of our spring break. Which would suck big time... And I think we do have 3 "built-in" snow days. So the first 3 don't count against us, but after that they do. Or something like that.
Well four day week this week. Parent teacher conferences Wednesday and Thursday night. Super excited to be pulling 13 hour days...

yeah, but you get summers off
it all works out in the end, doubtful we will have that bad of a winter that more than 3 snow-days will be used (was a light acorn season--I am using as an indicator), and the squirrels dont seem to be in too much of a hurry yet--so we might have a late winter start (hey..an actual fall might take place ...kinda like that spring thing we had earlier this year that I havent witnessed many times).
now I just need to get a working vacuum cleaner, mine doesnt seem to want to pick up anything (though it does have suction...)...friend has a dyson which they will allow me to try out....might be taking them up on that offer next weekend.

Yes, yes I do. Which is super and I love it. But the problem is, going 5 days a week with no breaks is tough as heck. Very very tiring... Give me a week off to recharge my batteries and we would be good. Say no breaks, no time to recharge. Not good.
We are getting fall now. Supposed to be in the 70's this week.

50 is gold - I would put a dress stone with it emerald or ruby ^^
I am not so keen on snow, in fact my niece is going on the family skiing holiday in my place next easter (home alone yay).
My mother is suspicious of the invite and will not come to visit until christmas *sigh*

pwnd, MOST people work 5 days a week and only have weekends off...and work up to 52 weeks a year (when I worked I got no vacation time...)...so 9 months of 5 days with 3 months off would make most office workers drool, not to mention most factory workers would die for that.
I understand teaching is exhausting (been there done that), and still dont quite get how some people can do it for decades-- but at least there is a bright side.
Imagine working in an office for decades with the only thing you have to show at your retirement being a piece of paper or a watch....now a teacher after working for decades can look back and see WHO they impacted (and they will get a nice retirment party too...the poor office worker just boxes up his stuff and lugs it to his car while his boss asks for his swipe card, wont even talk about the poor factory guy's retirement).
skiing...been there...not doing it again--my knee will never be the same from the last time I went, but having the house to yourself: priceless!

The schools here have been experimenting with 4 days a week for last two years with Mondays off. They "saved" money and a couple other schools in area are going to try it also.
Never tried the skis, but rode a lot of inner tubes down some ski slopes. Was crazy, fun.
Survived the night with the grandkids. May be time to take them one at a time. Got maybe four hours sleep putting one or the other of the younger ones (just shy of two and four) back in bed.

Oh I know the upsides. That is why I am doing it. I know that I have a good deal having summers off. But ya, the draining part. Working in a factory can be boring, but you aren't necessarily dealing with a whole new challenge. As you know kids can vary from moment to moment. It is never the same thing each day. Which is part of the fun. It keeps it interesting, though tiring as well. And as you know cosy, while we may work certain "hours", we usually have work to do outside of school as well. So the hours really add up quick.
I'm not sure if I would want Monday's off. Friday's sure, but I kinda like Monday's. Weird I know.
I spend my weekends just relaxing with my fiancee. The weekends go by quick, but I don't be any means hate my job. Actually don't mind waking up to go in on Monday's. Usually.

I am glad the weather has been nice past few days. I have been sitting under the hood of an old dump truck, that has been sitting in a field a couple of years, trying my best to get it running. Friday, I pulled its electronic brain and replaced it. Then pulled the Holley 4 barrel off and had it rebuilt over the weekend. Put it back on Monday only to pull it back off, spraying gas everywhere but inside. Put it back on Tuesday, got the motor to putt putt, but not varoom. Killed the battery, no jumper cables on site, only charger was a trickle charger, so it charged overnight. Today, well, only wants to sputter. Starting to go beyond my middle of the field knowledge. Tomorrow, forecasting am rain and crashing temps. Looks like we are done for a few days.

I'm just going out on a limb there cosy!
I've been sitting in a classroom all week. 13 hours today to be exact. Oh the joys of parent teacher conferences. I did 6 tonight. Have another 6 tomorrow. The best part of today was coming home and finding out my fiancee had snuck over and left a batch of fresh cookies on my kitchen table.

COOOKIEEEESSS!!!
I think you should share them with us
yeah 13 hours is a bit much (at least you didnt have to teach for 13 hours!)
cold weather is coming...all the leaves have fallen (even though the temps were quite mild), so yeah, outdoor activities need to be more 'seasonal' now ....guess the grounds crew will be vacuuming up the leaves this week...think they were on the townhouse property today.
