What do teachers make over there? If you don't mind answering ofc

Here a newly grad teacher will earn on average 21k per year. Average headteacher will make 40-50k, and heads of top schools will be around the 100k+ mark (private schools etc)

pounds..that would be AWESOME to get paid that much. (dollar is at about .62 of a pound)
dollars...that would equate to about $10/hour...which is what an entry level office worker gets (minimum wage is almost $8 now for the country and closer to $10 in some areas

).

Pay for teachers is about a different as parts of the usa are....look at an area like...New York City....the COST to LIVE there is ...well, dammmmn expensive, $21k aint gonna get you a place to live! let alone pay for things like, gee, food, utilities, etc.
now lets pick a place like....the quad cities (its smack dab in the blinkin' middle of the country--and I lived there so I KNOW about it

)...$21k there would be pretty dang good---also remember you can buy a 4 bedroom house there for less than $100k!!! (that same amount might get you a SMALL STUDIO apartment in nyc).
So salaries are going to be just as diverse! It all depends on your area and your BOE (board of education).

and yeah, I did some research back when---- but it is pretty dang much the same now as it was 20+ years ago sad to say. Pay increased a weeeeee bit, but still when you look at other salaries of other jobs out there, teachers are pretty much on the bottom (do you want fries with that homework?)

Yeah pay varies here as well. London for example pays extra unless it's an shitty school/poverty area (of which there are many)

In london you can pay £800-1200pcm for a room in a shared house....just a room.

I started out at about $35,000. So not bad, but that is only because they have to compete with the pay of a much larger school district that is located within 10 miles. So really, I get paid pretty well for being at a rural school. But yes, salaries are very diverse. My mom teaches in the same area, but made far less her first year than what I did.

made yakisoba for dinner...and got a real good nap in --dang allergies have clocked me good these last few weeks...but its been getting cooler (60's today, woot!--had the balcony door open the WHOLE day!!).

Ya, pretty glad that the big district is close so that they have to keep pay competitive. Definitely lucky in that aspect.

Hi all from beautiful Stratton Vermont. Have been here since Sunday and leaving tomorrow. We have a new edition to the family, a 3 month old Lab/Golden female puppy to keep our 13 year pup old company. Leaving for home tomorrow morning and must stop for our yearly supply of maple syrup.

yeah a dog would be nice....someday (cant have them where I live)...and as for anykind of syrup....TOO much sugar=diabetic coma=me not a happy camper....so I never use it, smells nice though

finally friday..going out for SUSHI!!!

Yes, yesterday was Friday. Thank goodness for that! Glad it is finally the weekend!

Laundry today, then going over to my parents this afternoon to see my nephews. And my dog.

Went for a run for the first time in a long time. Was still hitting about 8 min miles though I could definitely feel the fact that I haven't run in 2 weeks...

I had a fairly busy one, minus Sunday. Sunday was relaxing.

Sorry to hear about the sore throat cosy. I loathe sore throats... I would rather have pretty much anything other than a sore throat...

got a bit of sleep, and the sore throat has abated, but now I got the sneezing and congestion, coughing...and my ribs ache because I have coughed so much

sore throat is gone (yeah!!)....sneezing--abating, coughing--tripled

my poor ribs hurt and I cough all the time (think my allergies are playing a role in this as well...dang mold spores!).
but at least I see the end of the cold in sight....possibly

Ya, first one down. Went pretty well. Still had some idiotic students be idiots, but they were good for the most part. And the lesson went pretty well. So ya, all good me thinks.

as long as you handled them well, that is good.

coughed so hard thought I was going to cough up a lung (or kidney), had problems falling asleep with the stuff draining down my throat and making me cough

think I need to get one of those post nasal drip meds (and hope I am not allergic to the chemicals in it). need to get some sleep!

and just because I cant be sick alone (nor just my hubby computer ---we have said a few words over it and have begun to make arrangements for replacement parts).
the modem/router/? decides to red light on us too....when it rains...it typhoons!!!

had turkey and smashed potatoes...which I couldnt taste...for dinner

...hope this cold leaves soon

Ya, I handled it pretty well I think. Having my post-observation conference today after school. So I'll find out exactly how well then.
