no pool...and I wouldnt go swimming anyways---I burn in like seconds during the summer (my good ole scandinavian heritage shows ) and I hate getting my hair wet (take HOURS to dry even in that kind of heat)....and no, bathing caps dont work when your hair is long enough to sit on.
think I will fill up the bathtub with ice cubes----

I don't burn too easily. And if I do it quickly turns into a nice tan. But the pool is a great way to cool off.
I have a buddy who does that. He also calls it naked day... It is disturbing cause he is a big fellow.

Anybody affected by yesterday's Derecho? Those were some pretty nasty storms. We are lucky although it is hot today the humidty is low due to a northwest airflow.

Ya, not a pretty thought...
Wasn't much cooler yesterday for me... Still felt like it was in the 100's... Supposed to be hot again today. Got a storm at about 3am last night. Woke me up thanks to some crazy loud thunder. Sounds like another one might be moving through pretty soon here as well. It is supposed to get hot again once it passes though.
Wasn't affected by the bad storms yesterday. They all went to the north of me.

I miss legos.. I wish I had some legos here. They were so much fun to play with when I was a kid.
Stormed pretty much all morning today. Got a bit warm this afternoon but nothing like the past few days. Gonna be hot again the next few days though.

I started collecting when I was in college--the castle series had just come out and some of them were viking related (ships etc)...so I started getting into them then. Got most of the castle series except the big castles--too expensive and no place to put them at the time...well now I find that I wanted to finish up those--still no space and even MORE expensive!
(also collecting the harry potter ones--just like the castle type theme)
you can play with legos at any age...I used to have all of mine in dioramas in a set of glass cabinets in the apartment we lived in (converted old old house)....was cool to look at them, and putting them together helps keep some of your manual dexterity ---
missing a few pieces though, still one castle I need to get too!

They are freaking expensive now in days to get anything of a set. I remember my nephew getting a train from Toy Story 3 and it being like $70... Freaking ridiculous. My parents used to get us just a box of legos and then my brother and I just built whatever we could. Was lots of fun.

yeah...before we had legos we had another lego-type building toy...used to make lots of stuff with those as kids (early 70's)....very basic stuff like walls and such, but still was fun (especially for a kid with a good imagination).
I started buying the castle stuff when they were like $4 each...those same size sets are now about $20!
(I also bought some of my legos while I was going to school in Sweden,--since they were made in Denmark at that time they were pretty dang cheap!...I remember packing my suitcases that year with all my toys )
that was also the year of the big heat in the midwest--1988 we broke tons of heat records that summer...and they have done a few again this year...so its about a 25 year cycle we are in for these I guess (would need to look up 1963 to see if there was a heat wave that summer in the midwest.....)....got to hear the fireworks from the local festival tonight (tooo tired to go outside and get eaten alive by mosquitoes...maybe tomorrow or monday).
cant believe this year is half over already...new fiscal year starts tomo--today.

Nice. I loved legos. Which they were still cheap but no, now they have to be expensive as heck like everything else in this world. oh well.
You wanna know why 1988 was such a hot year? Why it was a hot summer? It is because I was born in March of that year. The world just couldn't handle my hotness. I single-handedly warmed the Earth that year. Oh ya. Cause I'm a beast.
Seriously? Today is a new fiscal year? Huh. Guess that would explain the raise in my paycheck then I guess...

Hey Sir Hotness (AKA pwnd) if global warming is going to happen you might just get that.
1988 was known as "The Second Summer of Love", maybe that explains something.

I certainly hope global warming doesn't get that bad RR... Though it is looking like we are a bit too late to stop the ocean rise. Climate scientists are saying even if we fix the problem now, it won't slow global warming enough to stop the melting. Which is sad... This is also a problem that has been building for generations. Can't blame just one, though the rise of the automobile definitely helped increase atmospheric CO2 levels.
There were fireworks a few nights ago. I just want to remind everyone that the 4th is Wednesday, not Thursday, not Tuesday, or whenever.
Welp ran my 2+ miles this morning, helped a friend move in 99 degree weather, walked 2+ miles to pay my rent in 99 degree weather, then laid around the rest of the day. So tired...

lots of places around here arent going to have fireworks this year (and lots didnt have them on the 4th --arent having them--)
the ocean is going to rise WITHOUT our input--its the normal cycle of things.
and pwnd, if I had run 2 miles in the 90+ heat I would be tired the rest of the day (not to mention doing any heavy lifting).....if you were not worn out after that I would say there is something wrong!
dang its cooler in orlando!

Lots of places aren't doing them because it is so hot and dry that a stray firework could really be dangerous.
Very true, it is the normal cycle. It happens every thousand years or so. Currently we are in an upturn with the heat and by the normal cycle we should reach cooling in the next 100 years or so. The problem is the level that it has risen. We haven't seen these levels before nor seen them observed in the past (ice cores). By deforestation and more pollutants we put out we have definitely increased it. It will eventually cool down, but we are definitely prolonging the heat.
Ya I was pretty drained the rest of the day. Could barely keep my eyes open at 9:30 last night...
It is cooler in New Mexico as well. My fiancee told me I should come join her sooner cause she was cold and I'm her personal heater. Apparently I put off a lot of heat? Idk. But if it is cooler there, I'm game.

most men do! (my hubby is a pretty dang good heater too)
anyways...not going to worry too much about global warming since what's going to happen will and we can do a tiny amount to make it happen slower---but not the point, 100 years is well past when I shall be alive and I am not going to worry about things 100 or 1000 years in the future when I can barely remember to worry about things happening next week.
ya we can be a little more aware of what we are doing and do our part to keep it down (I dont leave my house many days so I am not driving my car--much to my battery's dismay)...I recycle what we can and have some nice plants inside my house as well as herbs on my balcony working to outdo my co2 production...and when I build my house I plan on solar panels and would love to have a windmill (though I think most places frown on a big ole windmill in your backyard)...I think I can get a smaller one---or perhaps by that time they will have made home sized ones.
oy, will miss the 4th fireworks (no rain shortages here)... oh well ....will find a nice tv channel and watch them that way I guess

Not much we poor peasants can do about it other than recycle and try to cut down on our driving. Reduce our "carbon footprint" and stuff. Otherwise, not much.
Mmmm naps are nice.
