we have a nid (ned?) splitter on our dsl--we used to have the internet drop whenever the phone (landline) rang---and even though we are on the do-not-call list, we still get tons of calls! just image you are (gasp) clearing fow or playing some other long area (yeah I still play gw)...and just at the last boss---the phone rings!

well we got tired of it and finally got the idiots (last dsl company) to get their covad people out and fix it....which also involved getting the phone company out as well seeing as the dsl is the same decrepit lines as the phone (old old copper wires--not made for fast computer stuff)....
yeah back then we had only 1 choice (this is before cable internet or at&t dsl was out--and even after it was out, it wasnt offered where I live for many years)....a few years ago choices opened up and we got rid of that horrible dsl company (we paid $100/month for 1.5/.5....we now have 6 and 1.5 for 1/2 of what we used to pay!).

have had state farm since before I was born--get big discounts for being a good driver and having multiple policies with them---TONS better than geico could even think of offering....and I am an old female so I get good rates anyways

I wish I could have cable instead of my DSL, but alas, no dice. Well I could, but it would be really shitty. Just saying. Though it appears taking the filter off might have fixed it. I think it was dying (even though it is new). Shitty manufacturing.

I checked with State Farm since that is who my family is with. But they wanted $20 more a month for me. So ya, Geico worked out.

I understand that....I didnt add my hubby to my car insurance until he was 25 (unmarried males cost more---pwnd get married!!)....at which time he was free...and then we got married so he was a married male

...I watch every year as my costs for insurance drop (the only thing that seems to decrease in price

) since my cars are older and so are we----

lol Was that an attempt at a subtle hint there cosy? And ya, I know that us unmarried men under 25 cost a ton... Though there is no real research to say that we are more dangerous drivers. Oh well.

Actually, there is. Young drivers are more likely to take risks plus they're just simply not as experienced, and men are more likely to get in big wrecks than women (who are more likely to get in fender-benders).

I turned 25 this year, and my insurance dropped. It was nice

If I recall that has been disproved as of late. It used to be believed that was true but if you add up the cost of accidents it is pretty much even. Women are just as dangerous as men when driving. Though men do usually take a few more risks, it isn't always true. It is just a way for insurance companies to get more money. BTW, I also believe that it has been shown women get in MORE wrecks then men.

Women get in more accidents, but as I said, they're generally very minor. It's the guys that wind up in the huge pileups with the car completely totaled more often than not. It's not been disproven at all

whether it is or isnt true...its the way the insurance works (you try to explain to me why medical insurance for hubby and wife is MORE than hubby, wife and kids!!! ...I would THINK that kids see the docs a LOT more than a hubby and wife combo---but that is just how stupid insurance works).

ah well, insurance companies are out there for themselves and not for those who they 'cover'.....

had bison stir fry for dinner---cleaning out the fridge (jic we have to get a new one---)...yummy! I am getting some of my appetite back, so am feeling a little better now....

Just popping in to say hello before going back to work on the ark. 3+ inches of rain since Tuesday and we are the lucky ones, West of us has had much worse and it's on top of the rain that Irene dropped (10+ inches.

well the idiots did it again....as I live on the 3rd floor the only way to access the balcony for others is with a ladder.....so yesterday they power washed the deck, today they were supposed to paint the railing and reseal the deck.
They painted the railing first!!! (now tell me, how are they going to re-seal the deck with a wet railing they have to go over to get to said deck?????)

welllll, happy be-lated birthday then! (getting on---yeah...28 is so ooooollllldddd!!!).

so they finished the painting--but not the staining--and they didnt prep the painted areas either--just painted over the old peeling paint (where did the idiots find these twats?)....so will need to be redone in say a year or so..../double facepalms.

ah well...would be nice to have my own home so I could actually get things done correctly.
