THE EXPEDITION [XP]

=====[ THE GUILD ]=====

The Expedition [XP] an online multi-gaming community designed for individuals who play online games (including Guild Wars) to simply relax and enjoy the game, playing at their own pace, seeking out their personal goals, and exploring what they self-define as "fun".

We started as a PvX GW-only guild, but we have evolved into a mutli-gaming community based on the members, many of which who enjoy other games on Steam, XBOX Live, BattleNet, etc, playing games like Starcraft, League of Legends, Left4Dead, etc. We are a bunch of online gamers (professional both in behavior and skill) looking forward to building our community in which we are able to talk and network around the focus of 'online gaming' instead of just 'Guild Wars'.

Guild Wars is our origin, and our efforts in Tyria are not even close to being over. Members are on everyday, and it is still a requirement of our members to own a GW account. Our focus has only been expanded, not changed, though now we have at least one game that the entire guild has in common as members explore other titles while staking it out for Guild Wars 2.

[XP] intends on taking the guild into Guild Wars 2, and will start planning their entrance in the next GW title as more information is released this year.

=====[ THE MEMBERS ]=====

Our members join for the community, not just for people to get them through party content. Communication is key, both on forums and Ventrilo, especially if people are playing different games at different times.

One key characteristic of an [XP] member is self-sustainability: Members are able to support themselves in the game with whatever resources are available, whether in a group or solo. Our members don't need the guild to have fun or get things done; being in the guild just enhances the excitement and enjoyment of playing.

The other key characteristic is professionalism: All of our members have established a healthy relationship between gaming and their real life priorities, which helps us maintain a mature community. As far as in-game professionalism is concerned, every member acknowledges their potential and persistently strives to improve him/herself as a gamer.

We are a small social group of strong, independent players who play games for the game, and are in the community for the friends.

=====[ ACTIVITY & EVENTS ]=====

Our activity and playtimes vary throughout American prime timezones. Our efforts in GW are still PvX, but more consistent on the PvE side.

Our guild activities are member-created, where it takes one member to say "let's do something". Nobody is ever burdened to participate and help out, but that doesn't mean we don't love playing together as a team. We work with whatever resources are available, even if it means adventuring with few or many.

=====[ GOALS & ADVENTURE LOGS ]=====

In the spirit of the theme, The Expedition has an Adventure Log system on their forums, where each member lists what games they are currently playing, as well as a list of current achievements they have in-game or IRL (such as titles achieved, gamer points earned, birthdays, good grades, etc).

Ultimately, the goal is to get new members well-acquainted with our community, so when Guild Wars 2 is released, we have a group of tight-knit friends to explore the new title with.

=====[ RECRUITMENT ]=====

We want YOU, not your avatar!

[XP] is looking for unique, fun online gamers who will believe in and uphold the guild's mission statement and join us on our exploration of the next Guild Wars title. New people, veteran players, returning players, couples, RL friends, lone-wolves... everybody is welcome! The guild intends on staying a small, tight-knit, nickname-based community, making sure each member gets the attention and voice they deserve. By the time you enter our family, we should know you by nickname already, instead of your avatar.

Communication on forums and Ventrilo is expected; therefore, we are mainly looking for North American players with working microphones and good forum penmanship (however, people of the Deaf community may be excused of Ventrilo). Also, with GW still our highlight title, and every applicant must have a Guild Wars account.

Recruitment is application-based, where applicants are asked to introduce themselves and share their personal story to our current members so people recognize you as an individual (and as a friend) from the minute you step foot into the community. We look more for professionalism shown both in-game and in-real-life in all of our future members, no matter what your age is.

Applications might be intimidating, but its literally the ONLY thing we ask. We put a lot of heart and thought into our applicants, and we ask them to do the same with our guild. Once you join the guild, you are with us for as long as you want and are only expected to relax, enjoy the gaming, and have fun with us.

We welcome anybody as long as they are social, self-sustainable, and able to make a name for themselves, standing out as an individual in our community of unique characters. Many people play at their own pace individually on their personal schedule, but when we are on the same time, we usually come together and group up.
