Wow guys so much fun and creativity...but where is all this writing I'm reading about???...looking at the judges comments on Toutatis, and Tidus' comments and then Heavenly's comment...am I missing something??? Did Scarlett and maybe Hotel have an explanation for their pic that I missed?
There wasn't a writing assignment but I gather some wrote about their pics?
I'm confused :S
edit/ thanks nymph...I was looking for it to be with the posted submissions if there was any but I guess Tender didn't think it necessary

@ Kit:
My "story" was really just an explanation of my shot being centered around stress. I decided to chose this for my entry because well, I was stuck in New York a day later than I intended and I came back the day before the due date and was pretty much a nervous wreck.
I understand why the judges feel my shot is lacking that special "something". Seeing how talented the others are, its a sink or swim kind of deal here.
Seeing my shot compared to others, and honestly, yes it worries me a little, but there's always that "what if" lingering in the back of your head. Despite that - I'm famined for the results to come in.
With that said, best of luck.

golly! I am so impressed with those shots! The dervish, who's name I'll never be able to spell ---> soooo pretty!
I also looked at some shots - Toutatis's for example, and was a bit confused until i read the judges comment about how he was 'creating' (?) the winter? That is a really creative idea and made me view the picture in a very different light ^^
Anyway, I thought that if there was any time when I could get away with my pic being too dark - it'd be a picture, depicting the shortest, darkest day of the year
p.s. Useless rocks! .... (sounds so weird)

That would be nice Toutatis, perhaps on the feedback thread? I dunno... I'd love to see it because the judges all seemed very impressed with how you'd explained you picture.
Why is it that the male mesmers always have a way with words? It just seems so fitting that they would too....

/Edit: read Nymph's post. XD Thanks for clearing that.
And also, (trying not to go against judging) I think it was stated we were allowed to go anti-cheer as long as it showed holiday? Unless I misunderstood. But great shots everyone! Competition is fierce!
|
I was also mislead by those statements we were allowed to go anti-cheer

Assignment #1 results
Okay everyone, unclench those fists! Here are the results for assignment #1! Expect assignment #2 to be posted sometime tomorrow!
Scores:
Render Me Useless: 9+10+10=29 (up for immunity)
Nymphalis Antiopa: 10+7+7=24 (up for immunity)
Ao Kanashimi: 5+8+8=21
Deus Toutatis: 8+5+6=19
Gracie Grumple: 4+6+9=19
Nobushige Sanada: 7+9+3=19
Ember Coals: 6+4+6=15
Scarlet Renoux: 3+3+4=10
Corrupt Rosary: 2+2+2=6 (up for elimination)
Ambriel Deison: 1+1+1=3 (up for elimination)
Immunity:
Render Me Useless: We all thought you did very well with this assignment. Other than that distracting leg, you did a good job capturing yourself as the main focus with the tree as a good background prop. And though your shot isn't centered, that doesn't hurt it at all. We look forward to seeing more from you!
Nymphalis Antiopa: We loved your creative approach to this assignment. Putting the finishing touches on that snowman shows us Wintersday and makes us want to build our own snowman. Aside from the orange bush, great shot all around. Can't wait to see more!
After some discussing, we've come to a decision. This was a tough one. But there can only be one winner each week. And as promised, a bounty poster was made (as the "most wanted" thing, not to mention I'm into Cowboy Bebop now lol) to show the winner. So, without further adieu:
Immunity
Congratulations! You may choose one of the following:
An in-game prize of one Armor of Salvation, or 3 points added to your next assignment's score. Feel free to PM me here, in game, or leave a comment with your answer.
Elimination:
Corrupt Rosary: We know you were rushed for this assignment, but we've seen what you can do and felt that you could have done much better for this assignment. And you failed to meet the main focus of the assignment, which was to show holiday cheer. We do see potential, but will we get to actually see it like we did for your application shots?
Ambriel Deison: This is very hard for us, being up for elimination the first time around for two contests. But we just don't see much variety here. You used the same location for this assignment as you did in your application shots, and cropping and lighting were issues. And of course you didn't show us holiday cheer like the assignment called for. Will we see some better shots from you?
So after some hard consideration, one of you sadly has to go.
Eliminatee
Good job to everyone all around! Stay tuned, as the next assignment will most likely be posted sometime tomorrow!

Congratulations to this assignment's winner! You made a really great holiday shot and this is a very well deserved victory!
*applauds and gives a garland of tinsel and baubles*
I had some high hopes for our eliminee knowing her background. I guess it just wasn't to be; but just getting into this contest was tough enough with the sheer quality of talent that applied. That alone is something to be proud of! Good luck with whatever pursuits you follow next and I hope you'll be playing along with us in the feedback thread
As a side note, I scored better in this assignment than I thought I would. I think I understand the criticism from the judges, so with a little extra pre-planning I'll be able to work an even better shot in the next assignment

I wonder, if the Shiverpeaks weren't my favorite place, if things would have gone differently. Then, there'd've been some variety. Oh well, guess i am just cursed, contest-wise (/giveup). Well, gl to everyone, i'll continue watching. I'll get over my bitterness sometime

Oh my goodness, I was excited to see this come but honestly now, my heart was racing. However, it looks like I've been granted a second chance to redeem myself. I'll be giving it everything I've got and this underdog will truely shine. Given the criteria the judges deemed me lacking, I have learned what was missing, and what I needed, and I will be using that to my advantage. I would just like to thank the judges for allowing me this chance and I can honestly say I won't let you down.
With that said, i'm sorry to see you go, ambriel, hope to see you more on the feedback forum! On another note: congratulations Render, your shot was beautiful.

aww heavenly its just a matter of practice, take the criticisms and use them to do better shots then the next. i think most people (me included X_x) had troubles with this one due to the timing of it and as u say bringing in a individual looking shot.
SO! chin up and keep at it!
