Time for Mission #5 is up
The correct items were:
1 - A minipet.

Current Score Totals:
Stig Figger: 58 points.
Rift: 43 points.
Red: 26 points.
Oink the Pig: 22 points.
P A A: 23 points.
cosyfiep: 18 points.
Taetra Pack: 10 points.
Crimson Flame: 7 points.
Caeleth: 4 points.
Mission #7: Norn Tournament :d
Rules:

Quests:
-If you complete the Norn Tournament without using any PvE skills you get +5 points. (can be turned in by anyone.)
-If you take a picture of you wearing the Crown you get from the Bison tournament, you get another +5 points. (can be turned in by anyone)
-If you take a picture of you winning the fight vs Magni the Bison while your character is drunk, I'll give you an extra +1 point for being badass. (can be turned in by anyone)
Screenshots can be posted in the topic obviously. :P
Remember you can still do Mission #6:
Quote:
Mission #6: Who r u
Who are you? I wanna know who you are, if I'ma give you some money.
Rules:
-You're going to tell me who you are. Your character(s) name(s), how long you've been playing, titles you have, favorite game experience(s), etc. Just write up stuff about YOU and your experiences with Guild Wars. Why do you deserve this money?
-This mission is worth a various amount of points, that I will hand out at my discretion based on various (hidden) factors.

Hi, Dark Necrid... I hear you are running a contest to see who is worthy of getting a bit of plat from you....Well my name is Yukie Karmo, I am a monk and have been playing for about 34 months. I started in prophecies the 4th character of my owner (cosyfiep)....I was created as a boy monk even though my creator is a girl and usually plays all female characters . I enjoyed seeing as much of my world as possible and found it easy to get pretty far pretty fast---all those missions and groups always seem to want me ...anyways I spent time running around Tyria and then when the passage to Cantha became available I was the 2nd to jump on the boat (ok that dang mesmer Mimi needed to have yet another dress so she got there first, but I dont think she left Kaineng for a month!)....the slums were pretty bad (as was my compter at the time---cosyfiep), so it took me a while to get out of there. But when I did, WOW the jade see was gorgeous! Anyways I digress....I liked to see the world and quickly found lots of places to enjoy in Cantha too....and groups still always want me---
I was happy to jump on the boat once again for Elona and tackle some nasty problems they were having....so all in all I am Kind of Big Deal (1) when it comes to seeing the world (gm cartographer of prophecies, cantha and elona and legendary cartographer)...and groups love me a lot (protector of tyria, cantha and elona)....and I helped out quite a bit in elona (legendary spearmarshall)...I am helping out with those pesky morganites as well but it going to be a long battle (level 6 lightbringer)....
I have also enjoyed lots of the festivities that have gone on it all three continents.. (party animal 1...and have hats from ALL of the festivals--thanks to the powers that be for that festival hat guy!).
So why? you ask that I need some more plat?? Well I am a poor monk you see...I am working on that pesky party animal title and need a bit more items to help me complete that one....and oh yeah my creator had a bit of fun and made a bunch more characters (30 in all)....and SHE wants to get them a few things.....I, myself, am still working on getting all those elite skills from each continent and that costs a lot of money ---I have been pinching the storage every chance I get (but heck I share that with the other 29! and they dont seem to leave much in there for me.....).....but they do leave me gold items they want identified (wisdom title track level 3) and I usually sell them to the merchant ....so you see I need a bit more cash for skill caps...and those things cost 1 plat each! I have been getting them every chance I get but I still need a boat load more.
Ah my favorite gaming experience...well just one? that will be hard as I have enjoyed so much of the game, but if I had to get it down to one---I would say doing cartography, I love to see all of the world---the mountains of the shiverpeaks (my favorite as my name, yuki, means snow), the plains of jarin, the jade sea...all of them were a blast to see every nook and cranny of (soo much so that I even got some of the others interested in seeing them...even that pesky Mimi is a legendary cartographer! I think there are 4 of us now with that title ) Even though a lot of work was involved seeing all of that I would do it again (I am a monk and love to hug trees, walls, cliffs, .......)
So Mr Dark Necrid, would you be so kind as to lend a monk a bit of plat?
----cosyfiep thru the eyes of Yuki my first monk (there are a few others too....but he is one of the most played characters I have....that and my first character an ele)
sorry for being long winded, but I find it almost impossible to write short essays having been an english minor in college as well as teaching enlgish in japan for 2 years.

Hi, I'm Stig Figger. I'm a PvE player with several active toons that play in all four chapters of Guild Wars. I started GW in August of 2005 when my friends showed me and my wife this cool new subscription-free co-op RPG that was all the buzz. It allowed us (two married couples) to play together after we'd had our fill of the Neverwinter Nights community-created co-op modules. I'm now leader of our tiny guild called The Hairy Moofers [BARE], called so because of our love of word-puzzle games ('hairy moofers' is a Mad Gab phrase for 'hair removers' but we turned it into a funny nickname for our doggies). As you'll be able to tell from my character names below, I appreciate the unconventional or accidental humour based in wordplay.
I'm almost strictly a PvE player in order to enjoy noncompetitive co-operative play with my friends. I've always enjoyed co-operative games like Gauntlet and other RPGs, and never competitive/sports games. The co-op nature of Guild Wars suits the playstyle of myself and my friends well as we can often win a mission even when we haven't necessarily co-ordinated our builds: we can be terribly UNco-ordinated and be like the underdogs who just squeak through, or we can utilize our experience to plan teams and strategies that really kick ass. I'm also somewhat of a completionist so I played my necromancer, Eve, the most, to gain her numerous titles.
Eve Enbettyr, a Necromancer who prefers to use Curses, is my main girl. She has 26 max titles, including the four Legendaries (Vanquisher, Cartographer, Guardian and Skill Hunter) and the five Eye of the North titles. Neve Uragan is my Ritualist who loves to use [[Spirit's Strength] with a variety of martial weapons and is currently aiming to complete the Eye of the North titles. I also have warrior, dervish and elementalist girls which are played less frequently. I almost always make female toons just because of aesthetics.
I wouldn't say that I deserve to win 100k, as I've never played this game for material gain. I've practiced farming just to learn the mechanics of the different builds (55, 600, VwK) but I've never done it or attempted power-trading for the purpose of building up my bank account. Whenever my storage reaches ~100k from straightforward playing (missions, quests, dungeons) then I usually blow it on new armour as I'd now like to get all the elite sets for my Hall of Monuments, or on basic weapons and runes for my various heroes (I like to equip a variety of them with popular/useful builds as I don't have enough active alliance friends to fill up a party). However, I really love entering contests such as this where GW is used in a novel way (I got 2nd place in a modelling pageant on my alliance forums, and I hosted screenshot competitions and a riddle-based treasure hunt as well) and I like the satisfaction from accomplishing hard tasks. If I do win this money, I plan on further saving up to buy Obsidian Armor as my next set.

I started playing GW over 2 years ago with a bunch of co-workers. We had played some D2 and NWN together for a while, and were ready to move on to a new game. Because of our busy schedules, we could only play together about once a week, and were not always able to play in the same physical location. GW seemed to be a perfect fit, not having any monthly fees, and allowing easy remote play.
At first I was somewhat hesitant in buying a new game, since I was not familiar with the online gaming world or COOP-RPGs and MMOs -- these worlds seemed very intimidating to me. My online gaming experience was limited to a small free game called Mirage Online, which was a simple vB client-server game using Final Fantasy IV sprites. Fortunately, my local computer store was having a computer sale, which included GW:GotY for 19.99. I could hardly resist the deal, and so began my journey into te online world of Guild Wars.
At first, I felt the controls were very disconcerting, being so used to click-fest type games. Slowly, I started reading and learning more about GW controls, and they became second nature for me. Looking back today, I find it very hard to go back to the simplicity of carpal tunnel click-fest RPGs.
I had rolled a Ranger since this is typically the role I take on with my friends. His name was Rift Shadowfax, and would later become my main character. Other characters I've rolled since include Rydia The Mystic (monk), Rydia of the Myst (necro), and for PvP purposes, Mystique Rift. As you can see, even in the GuildWars world, I am still heavily influenced by my love for Final Fantasy games.
The more I was playing the game, the more addicted I would become. The curiosity of what was lying beyond was so strong; one gaming night a week of GW just wasn't satifying my appetite for exploration. I created a second Ranger (nowadays a simple mule) that would level with my group of friends so Rift would be free to experience further into the jungle on his own.
For weeks we had plenty of fun. Unfortunately, as we starting hitting level 20, the interest of my friends for GW started to wane. I didn't quite understand it since I was hooked at that point and wanted to show them all sorts of discoveries and neat places Rift had found. But it was all in vain, they had already moved on to other games, and I was left by myself to complete the story.
As I did, I felt the need to continue to build Rift, and purchased Factions and Nightfall, again taking advantage of specials.
Today Rift has many leather bound books and, with a few more wall hugging percentages and a few more vanquishes, he will soon make the guild hall smell of rich mahogany. Being a Tyrian born character however, he does not have the Survivor title. I see little hope of him achieving GWAMM. Nonetheless, gathering these titles for me was a great experience, with achieving Legendary Guardian when it came out, probably being my favourite and most rewarding experience.
These days however, I find myself less interested in grinding PvE, which offers very little challenge to me. I had dabbled in PvP, had done way too much RA, but had little experience with any type of organized PvP since my friends had left the game before we could ever begin to explore this dimension of the game. I recently decided to leave the guild I had created with my friends (very difficult to leave your first guild!) and joined a mentoring guild, Virtual Love [kiSu], in the hopes of bettering myself as a player and getting to experience higher-level organized PvP.
So far it has been a great and rewarding experience (*coughshamelessplug*I would recommend it to anyone who is serious and motivated about learning organized PvP: www.teamlove.us*cough*). I had the opportunity to play with (and get raged at hehe) very well-known players as mentors, and lately participated in the enticing GwG Tournament.
I'm doing this contest more for the competition than the prize, but if I do win, I would probably splurge and throw a big party for all the competitors (yes yes, to help my Party Animal title xD)
That is my story so far, but it is far from over.

I'm Crimson Flame on the message boards, but you can call me Crimson. My wife got me Guild Wars in February of last year as a Valentine's Day present. Unfortunately, it didn't work out as well as she had planned, since I fell in love with the game. Unfortunately, I have a bit of a problem. As much as I love the game, I have to split time with my wife, my newborn baby, and my school work (I'm going into my third and final year of law school). This means that I don't get as much time as I would like to play, and my characters have struggled as a result. I only play PvE - for one, because I'm not as competitive when it comes to gaming as I am in other aspects of life, and two - my computer just won't handle it. I haven't been playing as long as everyone, but I read the wiki constantly and try to learn as much as I can about everything in game (much to my wife's despair).
I've been known to reroll characters once in a while - I just went through such a phase. I kept my Warrior, Blades of Crimson, the only character I've completed a campaign with. She was a lot of fun when I didn't know any better than c-spacing, but now that I've gotten a little better at the game (at least, I like to think so), I've restarted a couple of characters and started some more. It's never been much of a loss, though, since I only had a couple of level 20s. As of right now, I have three level 20s, my Warrior, Shouting Crimson, my paragon, and Daggers Of Crimson, my assassin. I also have a newly-rolled Ranger, Shooting Crimson, an ele named Storming Crimson, and a dervish named Avatar of Crimson. All but the ranger have max armor, but the problem with playing so little is that it's hard to properly outfit your characters with runes. Don't even get me started on heroes. I just realized that half of my heroes are running around with their starter weapons.
Since I don't play terribly often, I really can't say that I've had a lot of big achievements. My warrior has explored 70% of all three continents, but that's the farthest I've gotten in any one title track. I did manage to H/H my way to masters on Dzagonur Bastion on my first try, though. I was pretty proud of that.
If I were to win the 100k, though it looks like a long shot as of right now, I'd probably properly outfit my characters and heroes with runes and appropriate weapon mods. I'm not going to say I deserve the 100k, because I don't feel like any of us are entitled to handouts. That being said, though, my Xunlai agent would probably appreciate a little extra gold in the bank.

anywho how can you tell who is poor?
people at lvl1 can have over 1mil in the bank - doubt that makes them poor being lvl1 again on another char?
or is it just because you have 100k woopdedoo you have a small amount of cash - to really piss people off just show 7stacks of z-keys or whatever max trade is - probs solved people will not be jealous of 100k
free cash from decent people is always nice
anywho thats why I reckon I deserve the cash - I can be a retard as well :P

Game Experiences
MEEP
My two favourite times have been with my two main guilds--Biscuit of Dewm [MEEP] and Team Love [kiSu]. Immediately after purchasing the game in September 2005, I joined the guild of a friend who had gotten me into the game, with my wife and brother following shortly thereafter. This first guild was Fail incarnated, and eventually fell apart. Since we had put some work into the members, my family made a holding guild for us and the friends we wanted to retain. Jokingly we named it after my daughter's nickname; and thus was made the Biscuit of Dewm [MEEP] on October 27.
MEEP never actually reformed, and exists to the present. Playing with this guild, especially through Prophecies and into Factions, is my first great experience. Our membership took a large jump when MEEP became the quasi-official guild for the people from author Terry Goodkind's fansite. Together with our own friends and those we met in game, it was relatively easy to create full human parties for the various missions. And, since we all apparently have the same tastes, more than one mission or vanquish has occured with upwards of 4 monks in the party. Trying to create valid Smiting Prayers bars back in prophecies took some creativity; but, as enemies didn't scatter from AoE back then, Fire Storm monks were both strong and brave. ^_^
As another example, a bunch of us went through a phase in which we conquered the Fissure of Woe roughly every other night. Despite the human body's natural desire for sleep, excessive amounts of coffee and mountain dew saw us through the nine areas and their quests, though on more than one occasion a Certain Monk (>_>) would keep falling asleep at the keyboard, necessitating a prolonged shout across Teamspeak to get him to wake up and use his prots.
The entire Luxon affair will remain shrouded in secrecy as a guild secret. Know only that some of us Kurzicks did things we aren't very proud of. We blame the stone spores for our actions. Those things will really mess you up!
KISU
Over the last part of 2007, my wife and I started getting tired of the PvE and delved into GvG with a friend's guild. Towards the beginning of 2008, then, I jumped fully into that part of the game with the Team Love project. Started by Billiard, Team Love focuses on getting GvGers the playtime and coaching needed to be able to play with the big kids.
Because of the time in the kiSu guilds, I have become the most frightening Mo/R Distracting Shot Monk in the game. Mesmers cry and run in fright before me now, the mere sight of an item switch to my bow causing them grief and despair. Those GvGs where I would shut down a mesmer's Diversion? Yeah. Pretty incredible feeling. Likewise, on more than one occasion my DShot was instrumental to helping shut down the Blinding Surge-Blurred Vision webs that would constantly keep our warriors from killing things.
^_^ And at Victory of Death, when I'd catch a pre-nerf Splinter Weapon? OH YEAH BABY THAT'S HOW DADDY LIKES IT.
~ahem~
Two other more recent experiences have really made me enjoy my time with the guild. First, in a switch out of character for me, I hopped on a Dervish and came up against trappers in a GvG on Nomad's Isle. Rushing over to their bridge, I called for our team's monks and ritualist to focus entirely on me. As the enemy rangers trapped the bridge, I giggled and scampered up to them, shouted a hearty "O HAI THAR!", and proceeded to demolish them. One, Two, Three goes the scythe; and the explosion was FANTASTIC! ^___________^
The second? We had a Sealed Deck night just recently, only to discover that the SoF generator was down. However, the entire crew pulled together to create an efficient, quasi-permanent solution to the problem. I was really encouraged by the way so many people were willing to pitch in with their time, rather than decide they had better things to do and run off. That sort of cooperation is made of Win and Awesome. Or, at least, I thought so until my team lost. >< We totally got Build Wars'd...
gold plz i rly need
My wife and I both find it rather impossible to hold on to our cash. It's always going away--to help a guildmate buy materials for armor, on my shiny Ruby, Sapphire, and Diamond collection, or most recently on the multitude of 100-gold guest invitations I'm constantly sending out for the GvG kiSu guilds.
On top of that, I promise to use the cash to make the world a better place. The homeless on the streets of Cantha live on the bare minimum of what Emperor Kisu can allocate. I intend to help teach them urban farming techniques. With the influx of this capital, we can teach them to feed themselves even in a sprawl of rotting wood and rusted metal such as Kaineng City. ((Note to Canthan translators: please do not include the above paragraph in Canthan editions of this post. Nothing is wrong with the state of Cantha thanks to the Emperor Long Live His Glorious Rule. o_O))
Further, with this sort of cash on hand, I might buy myself a nice chateau in the Shiverpeaks and build a new ski resort. I'll name it "Droknar's Slopes", and all the ski lifts will be fashioned to look like little dwarves struggling to support the massive weight of the riders. Not only will the theme be fun, but it might also encourage a healthy dieting lifestyle among the riders! ^_^

There will be no mission today, as we have reached the half way point. You'll have an extra day to turn in #6, and both will expire tomorrow, where the second half begins. The second half will have a lot of Guild Wars related stuff to do, have a variety of easy to hard stuff to do, contain more items to shuffle the points up, and will contain the last mission.

I've been keeping notes on when my characters open the different treasures. One of them last opened the ones in Jahai Bluffs and Arkjok Ward in November. Eight months later, they only gave ~250g and purple items. It seems that you only get the big money and golds once per toon now. (I'll save some for the 1-year anniversary for further verification).

I'm pretty sure it's random. I waited almost exactly a month on Jahai and Arkjok and still got ~1k and a goldie.
I just realized there are some treasures I haven't run in a little while, though (Realm of Torment and Bahdok). Gotta do those for a bit of cash.

actually I have found that the characters that have finished nightfall get craaaaaapy drops (and cash) from the chests now (when you get less than 1p from the ones in torment you are done with them for good)....the characters of mine that have yet to finish nightfall STILL get gold and a decent amount of plat (and yes I too have a journal of when and which my characters have opened, got too hard to remember 16 characters dates....even have an excel spreadsheet with which missions they have completed, % of carto, which heroes they have, how many skills they have gotten etc....still working on the hero page for them----with 16 reg characters [and 13 mules] its hard to keep up on 25 heroes for each....thats math that requires more than my fingers and toes to do ).
Its strange that one of my characters (a canthan female monk) had never been to the one in the dasha mission (didnt have margrid until she finished nf) and on the FIRST opening of that one---see got a grape and less than a plat! She still refuses to chest run (and I dont blame her as she gets less than anyone else....no idea why).
oooooppps I think I have derailed the thread....soooo
any ideas for how a horrible character at pvp can kill magni (and yes I tried the builds on wiki---uhm, half the time I couldnt even get to magni...energy management problems on my monk and cynn wiped my mesmer many many times...as well as her bf menlo--after about 20min of battling him I gave up....we were not close to killing each other )....

The AI (usually) tells enemies to basically never stop fighting. So they use skills when they're recharged and they have energy and adrenaline, otherwise they do their basic attack. This is why hexes work so well against them. Try [[Empathy], [[Insidious Parasite] and/or [[Spiteful Spirit] and let them kill themselves. To prevent yourself from dying first, use good prot/healing or put weakness on the physical attackers (blinding is counter-productive with Insidious Parasite).
Magni uses [[Purge Signet] to get rid of all hexes and conditions so 'waste' a useless one on him first, let him purge it, then apply your full chain and reapply after he purges a second time.

thats what wiki said....it worked until I ran out of energy (between using prot and 2 hexes.....) then he smashed me to bits.....monk pieces everywhere.
and my mes kept him blinded and empathy or spirit of failure on him as much as was possible (see the screen shots for what skills I was using)....I guess it could just be my laggy connection.
but thanks for the ideas.

The Signet of Midnight build you tried, works just fine (look from my Ranger's build). You need to try to interrupt his Purge Signet. Complicate would do this nicely. Even if you miss an interrupt you can reapply blind pretty quickly.

Rules:
-You're going to play the mission Thunderhead Keep in Normal Mode. Take a picture of you winning the mission (killing Confessor Dorian), while logged into Guru (like previous missions), and post it (Note: Make sure to do a new /age and that it is visible in your chat box here!). This is worth +10 points.
Quests:
-Take a picture of the murderer of Rurik...Dagnar Stonepate, dead. (while logged into Guru etc). This is worth +5 points and can be turned in by anybody.
-Complete the mission in Hard Mode, instead. To prove you beat it in Hard Mode, take a picture of Confessor Dorian's (now increased) level. This is worth +5 points and can be turned in by anybody.
-Take a picture of you /highfive ing King Jalis Ironhammer. This is worth +5 points and can be turned in by anybody who has less than 70 points.
-Insult Confessor Dorian: take a picture of you dancing with him. +5 points. This can be turned in by anybody who has less than 70 points.
-The person who completes this mission the fastest (from the /age) will receive an item. Note: You can play the mission in Normal Mode, and use its /age as your time if you want, and then play it in Hard Mode for the HM Quest, if you want. Just make sure you specify this!. Or you can play it in Hard Mode for both, but realize you'll have a slower time.
Note: As usual, only 1 chance to post your screenshots! So do it in all one deal, any after won't count.
