Guild Wars 'Dingbat' Contest - FoW Armor prize and more..
Hi,
A few people may be aware that people in DVDF have run art contests before, but in this instance this one is different. Firstly, you don't need to know how to draw and secondly it's not to draw a specific person.
What is it?
A contest that judges who can best depict, in a picture, an alternate drawing of any Guild Wars item, enemy, skill, town… really, any name that has to do with Guild Wars! The submission that is the funniest/most clever in the view of the judges wins!
Here are some examples(i'm sure people can do better, but you get the idea):
Forgotten Seal:
Wail of Doom:
How do I submit my entry?
post the images in this thread with your IGN and image name included.
Feel free to submit as many pictures as you want!
Prizes:
There will be Three (3) winners of this contest: First Place, Second Place, and Third Place
First Place:
1. A fully paid for set of Obsidian Armor for one character of your choosing, with an escort to the forgemaster by [DVDF] members.
Second Place:
1. Armbrace of Truth
Third Place:
1. 3x Destroyer Weapons
Judging:
* Who will judge the contest?
Three (3) judges from [DVDF] have been selected to review the images based on the following two things:
* What the contest will be judged on:
The images will be judged on originality, humor and creativity. Enjoy what you're doing. Make an image because it's funny. If you enjoy what you're drawing, other people probably will, too. This contest is here to be fun.
* What the contest will not be judged on:
The images will not be judged on how pretty they look. Artistic ability has no weight in the contest whatsoever. Someone with little to no artistic talents that barely knows MS Paint has just as much chance at winning as someone who uses Photoshop daily in their professional career.
Rules:
1. The images must be original, created by the author.
Non Original entries will score lower and may be discounted altogether
2. Can I use photos in my submission?
No photos are allowed. Whether taken from online or taken yourself, it takes away from the original feel of the pictures. These are supposed to be your creations, something you drew/made. Captioned GW screenshots are allowed however.
3. Can I hand draw it, or do I have to use a drawing program?
MS Paint is probably the easiest way to draw, but if you feel so inclined to use another program like Photoshop or even to draw yours by hand, feel free to. Keep in mind, though, that artistic ability will play no part in judging the winners.
4. What if I stink at drawing?
Don’t worry about it. These are supposed to be funny and clever, not some graphic design student’s final project. Concentrate on a good idea; that’s what really counts. You can make the image as pretty as you want it to be, but remember, artistic ability will not be factored at all into judging the winners.
5. Are there any kinds of content that is NOT allowed?
Keep this contest clean. That means keeping profanity on a PG-13 level, ABSOLUTELY NO pornographic or otherwise inappropriate content, NO immature bathroom humor. Any submission that fails to meet these guidelines will be disqualified.
6. When is the start and end date
The contest starts from Noon GMT 25th of May To Noon 25th Of June
Special thanks to Darith Kaulk who's idea this contest was, and who is running the whole show.
Good luck all.
An update/clarification to the rules..
Where people have used the same joke more than once, the only first entry will be judged. E.g in the forgotten seal example above, if someone else draws a sad seal then only the example above will be judged. of course other images that depict the item forgotten seal will be allowed. This is prevent copycatting and to encourage innovation.
Also, the prizes have been extended to the a further 10 prizes of 4 ecto each.
Shan

As stated in the rules, you can enter as many times as you wish.
As for the second questions regarding if the character is not at ToA or Chantry at the moment, then that will be addressed then. Fortunately getting to ToA is simple, and Zin Ku is a pretty quick hike as well (which thankfully includes ascension).

This would have been so much more awesome without the PG13 rating.
