I know its a day late, but the second co-host is Menlai. The co hosts will be involved in reading quiz questions, helping judge the screen shot competition and acting as Lionguard reps in the correct locations for the Great Ghost robbery.

Update:

Because of October being a new cancer awareness month, Kylanf and I will be supporting this move during our events. In aid of this move, the costume contest will also have a special pink theme to it, for those wishing to score high marks. Lets see if pink can be scary!

Default Daily Death-issue 1

Issue 1

*Halloween is here! Decorations have been placed up in Lions Arch, Kamadan, Droknars Forge and the Tomb of the Primeval Kings. The towns have been transformed, so you can expect to find large skulls, glowing pumpkins, graves dug up, gallows, guillotines, candymen, and transformed villagers. Be sure to look out for the various Horsemen, who will collect your monster drops, and Bobby, the ghost in charge of the Costume Brawl.

New robber on the loose!

*There has recently been a great robbery in Lions Arch! A resident of Tyria has stolen an item that is very important to the existence of Halloween! The ghost rift branches across all of Tyria, but the rift centers at Lions Arch, where it is held open enough on Halloween by the presence of a mystical item. However, this item is believed to have been stolen by an unknown figure. I am working with the Lionguard to find this criminal, and the item, so it can be returned to where it belongs. The Lionguard are searching Tyria, and today they have released information related to the whereabouts of the criminal and the items. The criminal has disguised their location with a serious of riddles. The Lionguard have managed to find the first one. It reads:

* “Lyssa’s grace and Grenth’s embrace. Both do I possess.”

The criminal has also hidden a series of map pieces which point to the location of the item. The first one is in:

I am offering large rewards for anyone who can find the item or the criminal, and bring them to justice. The rewards are:

*25k +1 gold weapon for the 1st person
*15k +1 gold weapon for the 2nd person
*10k +1 gold weapon for the 3rd person

Rules:
*The Lionguard have permitted people to solve both puzzles. Readers are encouraged to do so, as they can receive both rewards for competing.
*To compete, you must arrive at the destination. There will be representatives of the Lionguard in all nearby towns. If you arrive in the right town, you will be able to trade with the Lionguard representative, who will give you a token. Do not destroy this token or trade to anyone else, as it is only you that can use the token to receive the prize.
*The Lionguard stresses that this activity is an individual one, so recommends that you do not share clues with friends or post on the forums, and recommends that if you have the right answer that you do not share this with anyone.
*If competing as part of a team, I will not share the prize between you-I will give the prize to the token holder who must redeem the prize and share it between their team.
*There will be prizes for the top 10 people in the treasure hunt competition. The additional 7 people to follow shall each receive a gold weapon, green weapon or random tome.
*For the riddle competition, the first person to whisper me, Mad King Freebies, after 9am GMT shall be announced as the winner. The subsequent 2 competitiors shall receive their prizes. The winners shall be announced at the specified time on the schedule.
*The Lionguard and I remind competitors that we are unaware of the answers, so we cannot release them. Also, do not hassle winners for answers-they have won fairly, so should not let you get away that easily.

The Lionguard are currently looking for more clues, as well as the map piece, where X will mark the spot. We will release as much info as possible as we have it. Best of luck!

Interview

Each daily episode, we are going to be interviewing one person in each town about their thoughts on Halloween and how it affects their daily lives. Today, we have managed to secure an interview with Horseman Malfein. Malfein is a collector found in Lions Arch. He collects 2 Glowing hearts for an array of Halloween items. Lets see what he said:
DD: Malfein, its nice to see you again after such a long year. What do you get up to when its not Halloween?
HM: When its not Halloween, I stay with all the other Horsemen in the Underworld. We spend all year creating those Halloween items we collect, then we get ported off to our towns and collect your items.
DD: What happens to all those Glowing Hearts?
HM: Every year, I collect several million Glowing Hearts. Mad King Thorn likes to revel in the misfortune that someone had to die to get this, so he accepts these hearts as gifts. Who knows what he does with them.
DD: How do you feel having a minipet which looks like you Horsemen?
HM: It’s great to have our own minipet. Now people can enjoy a piece of us throughout the year.
DD: What’s your favorite Halloween mask?
HM: The Zombie Faceprint mask. I love seeing those women with flowers in their hair wearing it, and scaring the pants of mortals.
DD: Whats your most sold item?
HM: That would have to be the Ghost in the box. It amazes me that after hundreds of years with Halloween, people still get a shock from opening them!

Issue 2

Its day 2 already! This episode, we are interview Bobby. We are also looking at the Art crisis which has recently hit our headlines.

Art Ambush

It seems Halloween is spiraling into turmoil. A series of artists hired by me have been robbed on their journey here! Their caravan was laden with decorations galore, and more importantly, a painting. In an interview with the artists, they say they had found a place which breathed the very essence of Halloween, which they painted, and planned to use to inspire their work here. Because they cannot remember the place, it is now up to you to find the spookiest place in Tyria! Simply find the spookiest place, take a “picture” of it and post it to me using the infamous private Guru Scroll network. To tempt you, the prizes are the same as above:

1st place-25k +1 gold weapon
2nd place-15k + 1 gold weapon
3rd place-10k + 1 gold weapon

Rules:
*Special charms, such as Texmod or art “packages” are prohibited for editing the picture, except when blanking out names (if the image hasn’t been taken using Ctril+shift+H).
*Your picture can be taken in a town, outpost, or explorable area. You cannot take a picture in a guild hall, guild hall explorable area, PvP of GvG match.
*When sending the picture, you must also provide the name of outpost of explorable area, and a map of how to get there, or directions from the nearest town, or a service, if the area is in a town. This is to ensure you haven’t edited the picture.
*Please use private message-don’t post on the open forum thread. This is to make sure no one copies you!
*You may include yourself in the picture.
*You may use a picture screenshot taken from a Guild wars video, as long as you name the video, provide a link to the video, and have permission from the video’s creator. You may also use a Guild Wars image, as long as you have permission from the person who posted it, and provide a link to where you found it. The video scene/picture must be from Guild Wars.

Daily puzzle

The Lionguard have recently found 2 more clues relating to the Great Ghost Robbery case. The second riddle reads:
“Here do I reside, in a bloodstained land of darkness.”
The second map piece can also be released:

Interview

Today’s interview is with Costume maestro Bobby. He is a ghost that heads the Costume Brawl competition. Lets see what he said:
DD: Bobby, welcome back! What have you been up to on the run up to Halloween?
Bo: Its my job to run the Costume Brawl competition. I work on all the costumes that the competitors wear, making sure that each one is perfect for use. I also have a team of staff, who craft the weaponry for the less experienced players, as well as maintaining the arenas, and sometimes, making newer ones. We are constantly testing the effects of shrines on each other. We often test new skill combinations in fights with each other, to see if we should change the skills or arena layout. It’s a fun job.
DD: How did you get the job?
Bo: I used to be a servant to Mad King Thorn, just like you. I was in charge of his wardrobe. I used to make and test all his costumes. I worked on a set of armour for him, which is the one I’m wearing. I went to his room to show him this design, but he was in an important meeting. He killed me on the spot. As an apology, he resurrected me, and instructed me to create a Costume themed activity for Halloween. And, 2 years ago, after years of work, I finally finished the job!
DD: Why did you choose an arena, instead of something like a costume contest?
Bo: It allowed me to create costumes rather than judge them. It also gave me something to do during the rest of the year, and is pleased King Thorn greatly. Watching people killing each other in disguises is very fun to watch!
DD: Whats your favorite Halloween mask?
Bo: Scarecrow mask, without a doubt. I find it to be the most costume enhancing mask given at Halloween. And its flammable!
DD: Whats your favorite Costume Brawl arena?
Bo: Whitefury Rapids. It’s a great arena to play in, and I love the fire everywhere! I spend weeks experimenting with the burning forest section of the map, just to make sure it looks perfect for competitiors

Next Issue, we are discussing the Fashion scene. See you then!

My apologies to all. As some of you may know, I was unable to arrive in Lions Arch on Friday-there are several reasons for this. First, my connection was a bit dodgy-I had pretty severe lag and kept disconnecting. It had to be fixed, which took until this morning to do. Second, on this Wednesday I contracted Gastroenteritis. This meant I was constantly vomiting and couldnt eat any food (no Halloween candy for me, , ah well). I couldnt really get into the forums and into the game, but i did manage to excite some Nights of the Minipets party goers on the Thursday with a small giveaway. To please you a bit more, I also gave 100k to both Daniel and Malafide, who have assured me that it will go towards a good cause (maybe a bigger reward in one of their activities!)

So apologies again. I hope you all enjoy your Halloween!
