The Australian Guild Wars Initiative
Wasn't sure where to post this, so here we go...
The Australian Guild Wars Initiative
Overview
As all of you know (I hope), Australia is a country found south of Asia. It has a population of 20 million people, many of which do not have access to a computer that has proper spec’s and fast enough internet to play online video games. Due to this, it is a wise assumption to say that not many Australians play video games, in comparison to other countries.
Australia has always had a small Guild Wars community. The main forum, www.anzgw.com, has less then 5 posts a day, and is a “dead” forum. There have always only been a handful of guilds dedicated to PvP, and it has always been difficult to find a guild which plays Australian Time zones, even harder to find a good one.
Australia used to have around 10 active sub - 800 GvG guilds at one time, 2 – 4 of these 10 would be in top 100 most of the time.
However, in recent times, there has been a horrendous decline in the amount of guilds and Australian Players playing Guild Wars. There can be a number of attributing factors to this decline.
~Lack of Games in Australian Play Times, causing the average wait for a game 20 minutes +.
~The Decline of Heroes Ascent (also known as Tomb of Primeval King) which also had a devastating effect on American Players.
~More recently, the lack of AT times suited to Australian players – the earliest starting time of an AT is 9:00pm GMT+10.
At this current day, in late October – early November, there is one Australian guild in the top 200 – 300, and a few others who are sitting around the 1000 – 1500 area of the ladder.
As you can see, from briefly reading above, Australia has never been a high end GvG nation. In fact, Australian players have always struggled to play. What has become of the Australian community is less guilds then the fingers on my hand and a dead game, for anyone who wishes to compete in High End GvG.
Objective
As you can see, the Australian time zone itself (Australia, New Zealand, some Hawaiians, and some Asians) has suffered a terrible blow. Ask anybody who still plays Guild Wars, and is from that corner of the world, and there is a huge problem. So this is where we come in.
As an organization, we cannot do much except PROMOTE GvG. So, basically, our objective is to “re-initiate an Australian PvP environment which will actively support all Australians looking for guilds and help to develop that environment”. This is not an easy task, so we need people – and it is NOT that hard to help – in fact it might even be FANTASTICLY AWESOME!
Means
To do this, I have thought of some programs which can be started to help promote Australian GvG and PvP alike.
1. Guest on Call: This is perhaps the one program which is most enjoyable and easy. The only thing you are being asked to do is guest for GvG’s. You are put onto a list, and posted on our website (Coming Soon!!!). Then, when a guild needs guests, they look onto the website and PM you to see if you’re available. If not, you do NOT have to come. To sign up for this, all you have to do is message me on the forum or post in this thread with your IGN, GvG Guild Experience, Character you Prefer to play and any other information you would like to disclose. Then the guilds will PM you to GvG if they need a guest.
2. The New PvP’ers Guide to PvP: This is basically a guild. If you are an Australian TIMEZONE player who is currently PvE’ing and wants to PvP, or just wants to learn some stuff about PvP, you are invited to our “learning guild”. Our experienced members will run you through HA, maybe do a few GvG’s and explain the basics of the game and GvG, and then release you into the world. To join, all you have to do is PM me on these forums with your IGN, and you may join.
If any of the above interest you, then please, feel free to apply.
NOTE : Guest on Call is only for people who can make Australian playing times, which is (basically)
Melbourne, Sydney *GMT+10* : 5pm – 3am depending on guild.
Adelaide *GMT+9:30* : 4:30pm – 2:30pm depending on guild.
If you are an American who would like to be a member for Guest on Call, please PM me, email me, message me in game or do whatever you feel possible to contact me.
We will be attempting to make a list of Australians who still play Guild Wars, in the hope to unite them.
If you are an Australian, New Zealand, Hawaii, Asian (must speak English), or in fact anyone who plays in the Australian time zone, feel free to message me in game, email me, PM me on the forums, or do whatever you feel possible to contact me. That is the only requirement, as we are looking for all types of people to help support this project, as it is hard.
Contact Details:
Email: [email protected]
In Game Name: Cassy King
Please contact me! I hope to see you all in the initiative .
We are looking for someone good with websites and forums to design us some stuff. Please contact me if you can.

Get your info right first the Ha is not TOPK
Aussys would have more if they had a larger player base so until more people start to play nothing will change

Thanks for the support
I play in a major Aussie guild [AUS], GvG was attempted but we'd sit there waiting to get in for hours, and eventually we gave up.
But yeh, I was looking for a guild that did PvP a while back but couldn't find any because simply they are all america etc and play while im at school/asleep...

You're such a moron. It USED to be Tomb of the Primeval Kings, but they made it into a PvE zone when they made Battle Isles. Learn facts before you post.
This could be a good idea, but a problem is that there aren't too many Australians left who exclusively PvP...

Well there's not exactly anything promoting more Aussie players is there? The huge time differences in that there are practically no PvE or PvP players on when it is the evening in Australia. I've seen outposts that are deserted at these times but very much populated during the mornings, which is when other nations play, but most Aussies don't play in the morning.

[mend] and [law] are the only ones that got into the top 100. AuS went ok I guess. [AuS] is dead and [mend] died long ago. I did see Dan from AuS in Law, and and few others but other than that, I think PvP for Australian Guilds is dead or close too.

nice stuff
Our own district would be nice . Heck even an Asian one in our tz.
Great initiative, always wondered where all the other Aussies were hanging out,
Put me down on the guest list...warning reflexes need sharpening.

What about WtF? they were consistently top 100 as well.
Here, guys, it would help a lot if you posted a bit about the guilds you're in or that you know about that CURRENTLY EXIST. I'll start;
Lords Of The Dead [LotD]
Overclockers Australia [OCAU]
That's really as much as I know tbh, but please, tell me more, I'm sure theres some semi-aussie r1000 guilds or even better out there.
And PvE for aussie guys is dead - which is why it's being revived. There are a LOT of aussies out there or in semi-retirement - we just have to find them.

I would love the chance to do some PvP with some Aussies.. I always feel so restricted by time zones when I HA or GvG with americans, so I can never commit. So please sign me up! IGN is Arala Starsong, and I know that my husband would be interested as well on Trindor Fuzzywinkle.
I'm fairly inexperienced at Pvp to be honest, I'm only rank 2, and I've got about 300k balth faction mostly from gvging. But I'm very interested in learning! My hubby has his bambi, so he's sitting on 340k. We're both almost Uax though, and we can unlock any skill that's needed.
Great idea!

Oh yea, sign me up for guesting for anything too.
Wont play: Monk, Dervish, Ritualist, Necro, Mesmer.
Will play: Ones I didn't list.
I got most PvP experience at being an ele though
And I'm from United Australian Warriors [UAW] it's 5 guilds all in the same alliance, but we treat the whole alliance like a big guild =]

Huh? [WtF] Witness the Fitness as far as I know were never top 100. They were top 300, but I think they were all jealous of [mend] and hell even SOULBURNER hated mend because they back then played triple smite.
I may be wrong, but the last Aussie guild to hit was [Law] as far as I know.

Law was the last.
But WtF has finished a few seasons on 50, WtF was better then mend at one point and mend disbanded a long time. Very recently, in the end of WtF's period, we hit rank 300, but that was mainly due to lack of aussies , bad games etc etc.
