Hello fellow players of Guild Wars. You may remember me as "Mr Freebies" in game. You know, that guy who wanted to do loads of events and didn't pull any of them off. Yeah, that one.

Anyway, we all know what has happened in the past year. GW2 has been released, we have all beaten the afflicted and Ministry of Purity (well, i haven't yet...) and Guild wars is largely inactive.

However, as GW2 doesn't have Cantha, and the Movement of the Worlds suggests it won't until you kill Zhaitan (because his armies would destroy any boats there, and no asura portals...etc), this could be a festival where lots of GW2 players come back to the original. Who knows.

Anyway, as many of you will remember, every year in early January people would begin posting a thread like this with regards to district "hosting". That is, people or their guilds would "claim" a district, and provide all the meal ingredients for it over the course of the finale. ALL 22 ingredients, for 9 finales. I'm hoping people are still up for that this year-so here is the thread.

If people express interest, I'm hoping this can kick off, people can began gathering some stuff and we can get a great Canthan New Year, with plenty of people happy.

If people are interested, we can start discussions on the best ways to farm certain ingredients and who wants to host what district. If not, I'll let it be.

This year's date for the Chinese New Year is February 10th, which is a Sunday. This means if the Canthan New Year does go ahead (who nows what ANet are planning these days), it will likely be on this weekend or the weekend after, which gives us about a month to get ready.

I also happen to have several sets of ingredients I have acquired while vanquishing, doing missions etc. over the past few months, which I may be willing to give away for a small fee...

I am pretty active at the moment, and I'm likely to start getting some ingredients ready. If anyone wants to PM me in game, my IGN is Mr Freebies. Or, reply to this thread/PM me on the forums.

I appreciate your intentions but I don't really see why we should bother gathering the ingredients at all. This is from the wiki:

So players will get a Lion Mask either way. And having all the players in the district turn into snakes sounds hilarious XD

Yeah...I would want that to happen...but for completing all the dishes, we also get some gift bags and crates of fireworks (we only get the crates if we complete all dishes). Also, anyone who gives ingredients also gets tokens or gift bags, I can't remember.

So could be worth it for that...

been working on getting 8 sets of all the items so our guild can host a district, but am having trouble with 2 items. Azure Crests and ebon spider webs. for some reason, the lava spitters only drop their legs, and i've not found a way to solo farm jade sea dragons for their crests. Can anyone give me a suggestion as to how/where to farm the crests and ebon webs? (Guardian moss is the only other one i'm having problems with, but that is just because they won't drop the item, i've been killing the 3 outside boreas seabed repeatedly and gotten 4 out of about 90 island guardians killed).

cant give you a suggestion, but I do have some of the mosses and crests that I will give to you for your district (my guild--of one currently--cant really 'host' a district

).
Just pm me and I can get my mules to give them up

(the only way I know to get them to drop is to have them in your inventory--sounds strange but I seem to get more of an item if I have one already with me

).

so, the finale is set to be on Wed. Feb. 6th. i thought the finale was always on a weekend. going to be hard for people to make on a weekday. i hope this gets updated and extended until the following weekend, or shortened to the weekend of the 3rd...

Don't know about rollerbeetle racing, but started taking my monk through the Jade sea and brought Pyre to level my moss spider, and it was a #8 rollerbeetle. photobucket isn't letting me upload atm, but i got a screenshot.

here is a screen shot...dont need to go to the jade sea...just capped the moss spider on my keiran and took him outside burduk byway..and yeup...its NOT a spider anymore

(guess thats what happens when you take the whole live team over to the other game and leave the janitor to make changes)

update: doesnt seem to be only moss spiders...I have also got a panda (poor teddy

) and a jahai rat that seem to be rollerbeetles as well (though cosyfiep seems to be ok!)

Every successful dish will increase the Celestial Summon Stone given out by 1. ie, 0 dish = 0 stone, 5 dish = 5 stones + 1 crate. The stones are not that great most of time (at least for me)

Maguuma spiders in Maguuma Jungle. I forgot this is needed, merch all in the pass year /doh. Have some azure if you need, pm Perma Head Dmg

Ok guys, I'm actually away 5th-7th February, so as you can imagine, I'm not going to make the finale. Firstly, I'm a bit disappointed, as I had some ingredients I wanted to use.

As such, i will pay someone to take them off my hands. Request an ingredient and I will see what I can do. I'm useless with prices, so I'm expecting you to make an offer.

As such, I hope you all have a great Canthan New Year.

PS I love the roller beetle pet thing.
