Well, that means we have several known gods (Grenth, Lyssa, Melandru, Dwayna, Balthazar, Menzies, Dhumm, Abbandon, and the three demideities of Cantha (mentioned in the booklet))

Excellent, Excellent.

Menzies is only a demigod. He does not constitute one of the Six.

Dhumm is dead. Dead and gone, reduced to a memory of the reapers and riders. Let's not start this again unless there is proof of his existance that's less than thousands of years ago when he died. The fact that Grenth defeated him and his armies before Grenth even gained a single convert shows that should he ever return, the inexorable conclusion would be Grenth coming to slap him into tears.

There are five prime gods, and one banished.

You guys are like the worshippers of Abbadon, who found some ruins proclaiming he was banished and started worshipping him. The only difference is Abbadon was banished, and Dhumm was killed. Sure, the dev's might bring him back, but until then, all theories involving Dhumm are in the same catagory as those involving Gwen - baseless jokes.

No no, I'm not saying Dhumm is active and kicking. I'm just saying we now know of several gods. My way of thinking is that a god is still a god even if that god was killed.

But, I can't believe me or you haven't thought of this before Avarre...Abaddon's Mouth!

A bit of Trivia from Guildwiki (and on that page also):

Abaddon is an English translation of a Hebrew word meaning destruction/ruin, the realm of the dead or the angel-prince of hell.

Now, it looks like someone spelt something wrong some where. For one way we're spelling it Abbadon, and another way we're spelling it Abaddon.

Now, we could say it's not the same, but, I'm suspecting it is..

Probably me misspelling it. I'll go fix that.

Technically, there are many immortal spirits. Turai Ossa is immortal as well. However the designation 'God' is as much a title as a mortal status. Therefore Dhumm is no longer a god.

And yes, I knew the meaning of Abaddon, but I never thought there would be a god for it... just thought the volcano had been named because it was a destructive volcano

Now that we know that that stone thing was activated, what does it do and who was it. Did he do it willingly or just seeing what it was? Interesting stuff....

Lol and if played right mesmers can crush most anything. Sadly mine is only level 11 or 12.

Well, i still think Abbaddon is related to Dhuum. I think they're the same, only different names.
As u can see in the NPE, Abbaddon has control over the dead just like grenth and part of his army is composed by Banished Dream Riders: the riders of Dhuum.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see everyone's favorite dragons playing a huge part in the whole mess (as in: Glint and Kuunavang). The banished god seems to have certain serpent like features, the image that was written on the wall also looks like a serpent of some sort (it somewhat resembles that image you can see in Ascalon).

Could the banished god be the god of the forgotten ones? They were brought to Tyria by the gods. Maybe Abbadon was the one that was in charge here?

When his people started to lose against the humans and their gods he might also have lost his powers. He maybe turned against his fellow gods out of anger for them supporting the humans. The reason why the gods were able to banish him for good. Glint and Kuunavang might both have been Demigods to their people and along with the Forgotten have been - forgotten.
The whole point of ascension seems to be downright absurd. Do several trials to get the focus of the gods. Win the hard trials and after all - you're teleported into Glint's Dungeon - a dragon, not a god whose attention you wanted...

Glint is the one to cast the prophecy that probably started the whole mess in Tyria.
And strangely enough, the scepter of Orr just disappears. Could it have been an aspect of the banished god? One of the pieces the god actually was banished INTO? Maybe it had to be destroyed at a certain place so the essence could return...

And while Kuunavangs Influence is questionable for the lack of background information, it's also a bit strange that such a powerful dragon would bent before such a weakling as Shiro.
It could moreover be a masquerade. Act as the poor and weak dragon and then be the downfall of Shiro at a perfect time - after he was used as a tool to link the Worlds together.

Just a thought and probably wrong anyways :P

That name is mentioned in the post-mission cinematic after Mission 2 as well, you know

Proof?

Grenth controls the dead because he controls the Underworld. The Dream Riders have had no leader for thousands of years and most likely only want to wreak havoc now.

We'll get more evidence later.

IMO, that was merely a sunspear casting some sort of analysis spell on the statue to examine it.

Second, that statue looks oddly familiar from somewhere...but where?

Third, it is spelled A B A D D O N.

Fourth, Abaddon is most definitely some sort of demonic/evil God. Why else name the caldera of the Volcano on the Ring of Fire, which, in the travel description, is a gateway to hell/the underworld, after him?

Fifth, I'm with Avarre - forget about Dhuum. He is long gone, and exists in the lore primarily as an excuse to come up with some cool renegade Dream Riders, and shed a bit more lore on the Underworld.

The Lich had control over the dead also.

I believe that Abbadon's role was quite different from Dhuum.

His power deals with manipulation over matter/space so far. He could have been the lord of dimensions.

"Jeepers, creepers, where'd you get those peepers..."

Sorry, I started humming that after I saw the picture

By the way, I'm pretty sure that the Sunspear that was doing whatever with that statue was Kormir.... Certainly food for thought.
