It isn't coincidence. The Desolation in Nightfall is the same desert as the Crystal Desert in Prophecies. It's also closer to ground zero of the event that made it a desert in the first place, which is why the terrain of the Crystal Desert is relatively benign compared to that of the Desolation.

Tyria and Elona are the two continents that people can actually place with some real sense of confidence. Cantha is more of a problem - it's to the south, but we don't really have any good information of whether it's due south, southwest, or southeast of the Tyria-Elona continent. (The positioning of the Corsair island chain - described as between the northwest coast of Cantha and the south of Elona - makes me think it may be south-south-east, and so a trip from Tyria to Cantha actually involves passing Elona (which would make sense - it would make Elona the epicentre of the events of the trilogy). However, it could just as easily be simply to the south, with the corsairs being spread from Shing Jea across the waters to the north of Cantha towards Elona.

I think Guild Wars would have to invent something different in order to get our attention. GW: Factions was about gaining Factions, GW: Nightfall is about AI Customizable Heroes, and now the next GW will have to be something different. I can't think of anything new with North or West of Tyria if that's where Ch.4 will take place. But if it takes place in the seas, then it could mean ship traveling and battles. Though the wurm idea in NF pretty much took that idea. But the wurm thing got old quickly.

Did anyone else ever notice that Razah was in the artwork for Prophecies?

http://www.guildwars.com/images/wall...oseup_1024.jpg

look very closely to the left of Cynn and see what image is incripted onto the building I found the same artwork on another pic too:

http://eu.guildwars.com/images/wallp..._ruins-800.jpg

Freaky or what

Could there be a storyline to go with Razah or similar entitys?

Uhm,yeah that is freaky but im afraid that isnt Razah,i think thats just similar figure.

Well my opinion.

And i really hope for a snowy area, they could do north of tyria kontinent and would be great if they introduce more of a char story but there HAS to be SNOW! Cmon after the desert and wastelands im tired of sand getting into my boots i want to see snow and lots of it. But ofcourse too many snow would be too much so green forests and green hills would do too...
so i look foreward for landscapes on higher ground level (if you get what i mean). And new map doesnt need to be connected to water...ok,maybe a river couse you have to travel with boat.

But it would be really freaky seeing dwarf players running around O_o!

Trust me, Chapter 4 is going to take place in Azeroth. Where we can get strip teased by purple freaks with long ears.

I honestly hope we see more Jungle in CH4, because currently Maguuma is my favorite area. period.

After hearing from some of the devs ( and I believe Gaile mentioned it as well, could be wrong ) that not every chapter would provide new classes, i'm curious to see where Ch4 will go. New classes or not, i'll be there.

The reindeer/polar bears have pretty much sold me that at least part of chapter 4 is going to be very snowy.

Last year's grentches and freezies were just repaints of existing models... most importantly, a re-use of existing animations. Notice all throughout NF, the team makes shortcuts everywhere so they can use the same basic animations, even when changing both the texture and polys on things like abomination titans, the many types of desert undead especially centaurs, etc. Heck even classes like the paragon take many of their animations from elementalists while recieving new armor.

Making new animated models is a lot more work than the static ones or the reskins which constitute all of the other wintersday features, probably too much to justify for a seasonal event. The reindeer themselves were well-done and fairly intricate, and the team could've saved alot of work with a repainted black bear instead of the new, higher-poly long-necked model. I find it very hard to believe those base models and animations were created just for wintersday, and thus just about convinced we will be seeing more of them soon. In fact the only unlikely possibilities I entertain is that they might be reskinned for some other climate (can't think of any), or they may be from chapter 5 instead!

I'm sure many of us have had enough of the frozen shiverpeaks, but this evidence seems pretty hard to ignore. Prophecies already did manage to cover a large variety of climates, making some overlap inevitable, as seen in NF. We should probably get used to it with all the chapters looming ahead.

Mentioned earlier:

3) The lore regarding the involvements of the powers of play involving the Mursaat, titans, Ancient forgotten and the Seers were never really well defined other than the few short scences we have to work with.

Tried to make some sense of these lands.

Tyria
Elona
Cantha

I think the next step would have to be new playable classes instead of new professions. We have different henchmen that are of other classes so we should now be able to play them as well.

Yeah that actually might be true!
And yes Tyria cobers large variety of climates so it would be logical and easy for next map to be connected to it!

I heard that Aztec was a possible theme, and tbh. I think its an area which is rich in unique history, and geology. Also the possibility of linking it with The Maguuma Jungle would be very useful to fill the Maguuma back up with people!

Also, the Totem Axe looks very Aztecy (check word!) and we never knew where they came from apart from some idiots who got swallowed. There's my 2 Pennies.

**Edit**

The Arid Sea, Seems to drift off away into the corner of The Desert, Which then links up with the Nightfall game.
The Falls also has nowhere to go, and only one use so far, and thats the Totem Axe. So Maybe it could link up with a new campaign

About the "Where is Cantha located?" thing Jatoro Musagi in Kodlonu Hamlet says: "I hail from the southwest"

Well spotted!

Assuming he's not talking about somewhere he was between Factions and Nightfall, that restricts Cantha's position to a compass quadrant. And, since I believe Jiaju specifies Cantha is to the south of Tyria, this would seem to imply that Cantha isn't so far west as to be considered southwest from Tyria.

Which, by further triangulation, also restricts how far south it can be and still be considered southwest of Istan.

Okay, we could be clutching at straws here, but I think we can start developing a rough idea of where Cantha as and roughly how far it is from the other two maps.

Don't know if anyone's spotted this, but in southern Mehtani Keys there's a shipwreck with interesting cargo - Fish frozen in Jade Blocks. Hmm, where have we seen this before?
