At first I alo thought that "The Northern Areas" Was a hint for C4, but, Ascalon is In the North, and pretty well secluded - North of a sulfurous desert, East of the Shiverpeaks, South of Volcanic fiery char terretory (No wonder they wanted to invade) I'm still surprised it ever prospered dispite it's self sustenance, then again, its probably its seclusion that made it as rich as it was.

The intro blurb for Beetletun states:

Historians speculate that in time out of mind, these now-ruined watchtowers guarded Kryta from some unknown northern threat. Now the crumbled towers stand like ancient stone soldiers still awaiting the arrival of that mysterious enemy from across the great saltwater lake called Giant's Basin.

I've always wondered if this was a dropped plot-thread, some insignificant background info, or, indeed, an allusion to a later chapter. If it is an allusion it would make for a very interesting setting.

I heard somewhere C4 will be Greek themed. I also seem to remember hearing Gaile say that the elite mission for NF was part of the foreshadowing. This is supported by the fact that the keys for the elite mission are "Stygian Keys" (Stygian = associated with the river Styx, the river on the border of the Underworld in Greek mythology).

There are quite a few of Ghosts from Orr down there. It has something to do with the final area in the Gates of Madness mission.

Anciant Greek? Ever go to Vabbi?

"Stygian Keys" like the River Styx, the one that goes to hell or the UNDERWORLD? But set as an allusion to *SPOILER* Kormir's Relm *SPOILER* of ... Knowledge?

And I highly doubt that C4 Will literly be set as "Styx" I mean, If they didn't make Panda pets for fear of insulting the Chinese (Dead Panda = Dead whoever 'd'un it' ) - Who Did not have any servers at the time, Think of what will happen If thy Create C4 as Styx. And C3 Is all about The Apocalypse and *Hell* Remember?

Sorry bud, but thats not a lead. It will be In *SPOILER* Kormir's Relm *SPOILER*, which is still being made by the Devs.

And as much as it goes for info of C4 from Gaile - other then her official *confirmation* of Foreshadowing in the manual, C4 is :

OK, I just made it to the bone palace. I've noticed the different kind of 'mummy' creatures in the city: Centaur, Grey Giant (yeti-mummy), differnet kinds of humanoid creatures, etc. But there is one type that intrigued me. At first I thought it was a Tengu, but now, after hearing about the presence of Charr, I think it's a Charr mummy, and I've seen a few that look like it, too. Any insight anyone? (No, I don't mind spoilers)

charr would be nice, since in GW prophesies there was not much attention for the charr, only in the beginning. What would be a nice idear is the the remaining chars awaken/resurect a allmighty charr that takes over control. and that we must go in charr terratory.
An other idear is that glint see a big threat about a allmighty charr. and that the only way to defeat him is to contact a wizard who died 400 years ago. That is why glint let us return to the past to contact him and gives us a way how to defeat the allmighty charr. the map could be nice, the old map of GW1 but then different. with other enemies or stronger charrs. from there you see 2 new proffesions, a druids with special potions for defence attack or power ups, and a shapeshifter who can take all forms of the proffesions that now exist but a bit less powerfull. or that can copy a enemy but also less powerfull. or he can shapeshift in an animal. or what about a a proffession that give you the power of Telekinesis

sry for my bad english.

I know its said the Charr live in a volcanic region but wouldnt it make more sence for them to live more in a frozenland, it would make sence of all there Fur, the passion for fire (to keep them warm) etc. Perhaps this frozen land could be there true homeland were they came from originally where they were/perhaps still are peaceful and the ones north of ascalon are a splinter group or migrated group of more agressive Charr

Having the next chapter based around the Charr North of ascolonian lands makes for a very likely possiblity.

Summary of storyplot:

If anyone remembered the GWP storyline:

The Charr (titan Worshippers) started to push their forces south causing the Searing and as far as Kryta prior to white mantle formation. The unseen gods (Murssat) were discovered and the white mantle was formed and begun to feed souls of the Chosen to blood stones to seal the titans from tyria. The charr invasion cease after the White mantle drove them from Kytra.

Heros lead ascolonians into Kyrta to escape the Charr and furthering their adventures to defeat the white mantle and murssat who were preventing the titans from entering Tyria, hence allowing the Lich to control the titans with the Scepter of Orr and release titans into tyria.

Heros travel to crystal desert to "ascend" where previous Elonias have failied inorder to be able to see the mursaat and meet Glint to learn of their destiny.

Heros then went on to defeat the mursaat followed by the lich (influenced by abbadon) and closed the portals to tyria for the titans and went off to "clean up" those who have escaped/remainded in tyria. Notice that the Scepter of orr was not recovered by the heros but mysteriously dissappeared.

Storyline of Factions starts:

Shiro (another soul targeted and influenced by Abbadon) attempts to return to the pysical realm with the blood of royality and spreading a plague of disease and commiting soul bondage to service.

Heros uncover the truth and attempts to unite the factions of Cantha in a final showdown with shiro and Killed shiro again and banish him to the depths of realm of torment (where apprently abbadon and the lich also resides).

Storyline of Nightfall starts:

Varesh, ruler of the powerful military state Kouran (another soul influenced by Abbadon) attempts to relive the outcasted god and restore his power and spread torment to all the lands.

The Heros uncover this and with the help of the Order of Sunspears from Istan launched an unsuccessful attack on Varesh and was forced to regroup and seek aid of the Vabbi princes, meanwhile having to deafeat Varesh and both Shiro and the lich once more and prevent abbadon's reign of terror on the lands.

Storyline of C4 building points:

1) The events post the retreat of Charr after the failied invasion of Kyrta was not touched on and can be expanded upon. How the charr came to worship the titans wasnt really well defined. (maybe something like tribe see big flaming thing that kills them by spitting on them = GOD, Must WORSHIP)

2) Scepter of Orr was never recovered by the Heros, its current owner remains a mystery. The titans may make a second reappearance or that being said the planar realms of the titan homelands *drool*

3) The lore regarding the involvements of the powers of play involving the Mursaat, titans, Ancient forgotten and the Seers were never really well defined other than the few short scences we have to work with.

4) As always one musnt forget the importance in the interplay of power between the gods which hasnt really been touched on as well so far other than the avatars of the five golds used by the devout Dervish in the fight against Abbadon. Hence this could possibly make for a tale of truely Epic proportions. The big question always is: Is he truely dead/destroyed? Which always makes for interesting reoccuring villians that players can identify with as Heros.

I think the Scepter of Orr is in Glint's safekeeping, since it disappears during the final cutscene when you talk to Glint.

The Scepter also has a twin, the Staff of (the Gods??), cant remember exact name. You need to keep the minions of abaddon from acquiring that in a certain quest.

Btw, the Lich says in Nightfall that he has always worshipped secretly Abaddon, when he was still the Vizier.

And everybody forgets about the Scourge of Vabbi, the Undead King, Palawa Joko... who apperently cannot be destroyed, at least during Nightfall.

I dont think Abaddon is really dead, he is just together with Kormir 'recreated'. The new godess is neither Kormir nor Abaddon. By doing so she purged the madness from Abaddon.

Psh, what about Menzies and Dhuum? Shadow armies and terrorwebs!

I really liked the reference to the beetletun area. The idea of Norse-themed C4 doesn't seem as appealing after I took a second thought to it - it would be incredibly similar to the Shiverpeaks/Dwarven segment of prophecies (the ships, clothing, hair design, etc... were very much typical of Northern climate peoples). Plus you lose the element of the Norse gods since I doubt they'll change the current pantheon of gods - the introduction of more gods would echo too much of nightfall.

A charr chapter would be cool though, with the reintroduction of glint. Possibly dredge? (we never figured out exactly where they came from)
I honestly think a brand new plotline would be welcome too (hence my enamoration with the cryptic quote from beetletun lore)

I tired to start a Ch4 creative thread here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10065410

In it I theorized Ch4 would be Norse themed and tell us more about the Charr, a kingdom of enslaved humans, and a race of giants (i OP offspring of Titans and humans but decendants of the "True Giants" that walked the world 10,000 years ago would fit better).

If this trade with "northern lands" is really a Ch4 hint I may not have been far off.

Other than that, I didn't see anything, even in the manual. But then, I'm terrible at looking for things.
Isn't Cantha across the sea? Wasn't Mhenlo trained in Cantha before he went to ascalon? itsn't it therefore nonsense he could ever think ascalon was the world?

i can honestly see ANet going somewhere with the Charr homeland in chapter 4, and maybe shedding some light on what started the whole war, which thus lead to the invasion and fall of ascalon.

Because in less i just cant remember, i dont think it was ever really explained why the Charr just decided to attack ascalon. Pre-Searing characters pop right into a time of war, so maybe Chapter 4 will loop the storyline back into the charr's lands.

But there IS a key clue as to why the charr invaded.

The Beetletun watchtowers:
Historians speculate that in time out of mind, these now-ruined watchtowers guarded Kryta from some unknown northern threat. Now the crumbled towers stand like ancient stone soldiers still awaiting the arrival of that mysterious enemy from across the great saltwater lake called Giant's Basin.

Its very possible that some even more northern territory (than the charr lands) was commiting a genocide or were in a state of war with the charr, and thus forced the Charr out of their true homeland, with no other option but to take to Ascalon.

Obviously, King Adelburn didnt want to interfere with outside relations, thus the seclusion from Kryta, and the Shiverpeaks. The charr that came looking for refuge probably "encroached" some kind of law set in order by Adelburn, and thus started an era of bad feelings. This would also be a perfect excuse for Adelburn to call the charr refuge seekers "invaders", and polarize the public opinion to that of an anti-charr, pro-war mindset.

This would lead to a very nice segway through irony, as when Ascalon and Rurik move through the shiverpeaks and to Kryta as refugees, they are not immediatley welcomed, and only start/fuel more wars and exiles.

Thus completes my views on this subject...for now

**EDIT**

We dont really know for sure that the Charr actually worshipped the titans. It was assumed and in-game NPCs have said that, but that could be their assumptions as well. The Titans, or some likeness of the titans may have been the aggressors who drove the charr from their land. And when you are being oppressed by something, you pretty much wanna burn its image, for revenge if not for a nice morale boosr before the next battle.
