Default Eye of the North

This might be a rumor, but still we are all guessing where the storyline will lead to for Guild Wars. Personally, Eye of the North makes a lot sense to me as an end of the guild wars story. All the following contents are just from my personal point of view. For a good chance, it should be wrong and nonsense, however i do enjoy the feeling that Guild Wars have brought to me for the past 2 years.

First, lets have a look at the info from the following link:
http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=37986

Quote:
NCSOFT HAS ANNOUNCED the development and release dates for regular annual expansion of Guild Wars universe, and not too surprisingly, that this expansion will be the last throw of the dice before its successor appears on the market.
The add-on will be known as Eye of the North, and stands to be released in Q3 of 2007. The price of the add-on is not known at the time of annoucement, but it will be less than already present campaigns. In order to play the game, gamers must own at least one of the already released GW campaigns, like Nightfall, Factions or Prophecies.

Eye of the North brings a conclusion what happened in Tyria after Guild Wars: Prophecies ended, and as such - is 100% oriented towards games with characters of maximum level. We know GW gamers want the numbers, so here they are: 18 new multi-level dungeons, 40 new armour sets, 10 new Heroes and massive 150 new skills, out of which 50 belong only to PvE (Player versus Enviroment).

Enter the end of Guild Wars 1 and beginning of Guild Wars 2...

On the other hand, there are Guild Wars 2. This is a full sequel and will be released in 2009-10 timeframe, with a public beta being released sometime next year. This game will be set several hundred years after GW: Prophecies and Eye of the North, but the main drool factor will be zone-wide events (read, open war in DaoC and Alterac Valley style), combined with refined control system, oriented for action and ease of use. Playable races include Humans, Charr, Norns, Asurians and Sylvarians. Level cap is set, but it is not known at the time, while characters will now progress through the game in a more sensitive way.

The graphics engine will be brought up to date with latest graphics developments in 2009-10, so you can expect a game engine which will offer unrivalled graphics features in world of MMOs.

NCSoft's roadmap now should be pretty clear, as far as GW world is concerned: GW1 add-on, GW2 public beta, GW2 final. Next 18 months will be very busy for these guys
---------------------------------------------------------------
I haven't played through nightfall. This is just a guess before i really get some information from the website. Even though Factions, Nightfall are all stand alone when they are published, i still believe as the whole series of Guild Wars, the stories are connected together.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Nightfall Storyline:
Quote:
Nightfall is set in the continent of Elona, a new area designed for the Nightfall campaign. Elona is a land of wealth and power and has three major provinces; Istan, Kourna and Vabbi. The provinces are at peace, but are anxious to keep that peace. The continent uses Africa as inspiration giving it a unique style compared to the Europe-inspired Prophecies and Asia-inspired Factions.

The Order of the Sunspears, abbreviated to the Sunspears, are an independent military order based on the island of Istan, they are tasked with protecting all of Elona from threat and have done so for many centuries. They are currently led by Spearmarshal Kormir, who is well respected and widely regarded as the best leader the Sunspears have had for some time.

The position of Warmarshal, the leader of Kourna, dates back to when the Turai Ossa defeated and imprisoned the undead Lord, Palawa Joko. The title has passed through Turai's descendants to the current Kournan ruler, Varesh Ossa.

The Nightfall campaign takes place in 1075AE/1535CC - five years after the Searing that destroyed the Kingdom of Ascalon across the Crystal Desert to the north of the Desolation, and two years after the twin events in the previous campaigns of the Undead Lich being slain on the Bloodstone atop the volcano of Abaddon's Mouth in Prophecies and Shiro Tagachi being sent to the Realm of Torment by the Envoys to pay for his crimes in Factions.
The end story of prophercies:
Quote:
The Lich is defeated but the Titans still roam Tyria. Glint instructs the players to defend each of the regions of Tyria against the Titan attacks, and finally eliminate the source of the Titan assaults
------------------------------------------------------------

My guess: in the last expansion part of Guild War 1, titan will appear a lot as the major enemy to defeat. After the elimination in the land of Tyria, the left titan source should flee to the nothern part of the whole world. This time, Glint will come back. She might be an alliance, but for me, most likely she will become a boss which needs to be destroyed at the final chapter of guild wars 1.

Quote:
Glint is a Dragon of ancient age - nearly 3000 years old. She is a prophet and an oracle, making prophecies about the future of Tyria. In the Mission of Dragon's Lair the players seek an audience at Glint and she recognizes them as the Chosen, foreseen to save Tyria. Her lair is said to be inside a single grain of sand in the vast Crystal Desert.

Glint was the first creature made by the Gods of Tyria. She was to be the caretaker of Tyria but was later on aided by the Forgotten. She shows a concern for the fate of humans and aids players with advice and visions of what is taking place. She also enlists their aid in defeating the Titans in the Titan Quests.

The bonus for the Dragon's Lair mission is to defeat Glint in battle. This has no effect on relationships with Glint in the game. Even if you slay her (and she is a formidable foe), you will encounter her in latter parts of the game. Strategies to defeat Glint can be found here.

A shrine for Glint can be found in Droknar's Forge, guarded by the Brotherhood of the Dragon. At this shrine players can summon the Vision of Glint (her avatar) to communicate with her.
If there is futher for Guild War 1, as an end if there is. Glint should be the one who makes prophercies again for Tyria and the whole land, but this time she might be wrong.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
WORLD MAP:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/images/4/47/Tyria.jpg

For all the theories out there, i personally prefer this one. It did make much sense to me. However, if that's the way that the world before the end of the story should look like, Cathan is a bit irrelative. It is okay to say that people can travel through the clashing sea to elona and then head to Tyria. Hypothetically speaking, if the whole storyline is connected among chapters, cathan's location should be reconsiderred. If Eye of the North is the name for the last expansion, there should be a good chance that the place for the last chapter is to the north of Tyria where the land now flooded with charr and titan. Again, it should make sense that why the charr were restricted by the Great Northern Wall. If Titans are defeated in Tyria, the only pass to escape is through the Great Northern Wall to the land of Charr.

This should reveal us the cause why Ascalon was destroyed by the fire and crstal meteors. The main theme for the last expansion "Eye of the North" might end with the rebuild of Ascalon city.

Peace....

(Just for fun)

Basically it hasn't been confirmed and is most likely a false name.

Did you seriously start this thread?

There are easily three other massive threads that are discussing everything here in your post...and we don't even know for sure yet if EotN is the newest campaign/expansion!!!

People love to spread rumors, I tell you what...

CH4 could be call Guild Wars:A New Hope, CH5:The Mursaat Strike Back then CH6: Return of the Chars, for all we know.

Oh! might as well throw in a Chaos Sword for a complete package.

Anet already bought the rights to use "Eye of the North", so while they havn't actually said it, that's pretty much proof right there.

I would love to the EoN map be wide, but not so tall such that it would span across the whole northern parts of the Tyrian map, as an extension. There has always been blank area up there that has not been accessable!

The town description of Beetletun talks about mysterious enemies from beyond the Giant's Basin lakes. Could the Mursaat City be located over there, long forgotten? I think EoN may show us whats up there. One of the resleased screenshots has a snowy setting, which would suggest that the SHiverpeaks extend farther north than the Tyrian map reveals. Lastly, the lands north of Ascalon is the Charr homeland. Who isn't excited to see that!?

Just because they bought the rights of a name, does not mean that will be the next game. I believe some one stated in the many threads of GW:EN, that that name was copyrighted before Nightfall (Or factions) was. Other people show and state it was copyrighted recently. If it was copyrighted really recently, my belief is that they have copyrighted it should they decide to what that as a game name.

Giga, we could. But at this time it's just a rumor considering there is no other site at the moment (until just a few hours from now when people begin to receive their PC Gamer magazines) that states anything they have posted there. Until other information comes forth (Like the mentioning of the Asura race), everything is just a rumor.

Not to back seat mod, but really, these threads need to be placed on lock and key as this encourages spamming. Nothing against the opening posters, but it's just like "come on already!" with it...

Maybe this is another Utopia incident, but NcSoft registered two names, both of which match what the Inquirer says.

eyeofthenorth.com
guildwars2.com

Something like that, its in the mainpage on Riverside.

So while it might not be a campaign, the fact that Inquirer matches it, and that Ncsoft has registered the domain names and copyrights, makes it more believeable.

Plus, its not like Ncsoft just goes out and registers domain names just for the heck of it. And while the inquirer is less than a crediable source normally, all of the evidence, and the fact that gaile has said some of the info is true, leads me to believe it is in fact true.

GW:EN is most likely going to be the next campaign. I can bet on that.

Yeah if GW2 is coming, it will be at least 3-4 years from now.

We are talking about Chapter 4.

Guild Wars: Mhenlo and Koss. Excellent Adventure.

CH 4 being GW: Eye of the North being the official title for the final product is highly unlikely due to the fact that the 2 expansions released have only a singular word as an addition to the title.
