Default found something in bettletun

found something interesting in the description for Bettletun. I dunno if this has already been discussed or not because i haven't kept up with the forums. heres what it says

"Historians speculate that in time out of mind, these now-ruined watchtowers guarded Kryta from some unknown northern threat. Now the crumbled towers stand like ancient stone soldiers now awaiting the arrival of that mysterious enemy from across the great saltwater lake called the Giant's Basin."

Now we are going to take a look at the timeline for Tyria.

10,000 BE - Last sign of Giganticus Lupicus (the giants) walking on Tyrian continent (best guess)

I dunno about u guys, but i think that this unknown northern threat, from across the great saltwater lake called the giant's basin, could possibly be the giants, who possibly could be where the next chapter of guild wars might take us.

now if this has already been discussed, please don't get mad at me.
but if it hasn't then go and discuss

Check out the wiki page for it. It has some notes on your findings too.

I had read an assertion that these watch towers were related to the lost race of Giganticus Lupicus but that was long before humans entered into established history.

I would venture a guess that the Eyes of the North are perhaps the ancient opposition to these "eyes of the south".

Hm... Perhaps they weren't giants at all. Maybe Giant was simply an exaggeration of the immense power one held at that time. Another way of stating they were Guardians.

With that in mind, maybe Gwen is the "Eye of the North" and she is inherently a guardian. Implying there was an eye of the south, east and west.

I say all this because I still believe the threat from the north was quite simply Charr and they themselves were aiming to fulfill the flameseekers prophecy. (where did the Lich come from anyway? he could be the threat for all I know)

The lich is the counciliery of the king of orr(back in the time when the kingdom was still on the surface of the ocean)when the charrs made it to orr the vizer(lich)was tricked by a demon a servant of abbaddon himself and casted an ancient spell which he thought it will save orr but it didnt and it shrank it to the bottom of the ocean the vizier was the only who ''survived'' and he is the person who fullfilled the flameseeker proffecies

Giganticus Lupicus could just be the Norn. They have already been named as a race of "Half Giants". But yea this topic of the giants, the giants basin, and the watchtowers has been discussed in depth, right down the the different species of giants. Check earlier posts on it, they even have every location of the skeletons.

The official chronology specifically says:

10,000 BE Last signs of Giganticus Lupicus (the Great Giants) on Tyrian continent (best guess).

And the name is pretty specific. I wouldn't be shocked if Norns are descendants of the Great Giants in one fashion, or another.

Quote:
The Norns are a race of shape-shifting half-giants who dwell in the Far Shiverpeaks.

Lich is vizier kilbron...and also he was a FOLLOWER of abaddon, he was not tricked...i beleive he purposely destroyed orr by the orders of abaddon, then use an undead army to get the scepter of orr from the chosen, open the door of komalie, release the titans and wipe the mursaat out (mainly), then try and conquer all of tyira, for he knows he is the flameseeker.

/catchbreath. Phew! now that it has been explained, we can carry on :P

I think that the Giganticus Lupicus walking on tyrian CONTINENT could explain that they were most probably yetis, or the living versions of the grey giants....ever thought of that?

The Great giants are bigger than the Yetis etc. since they arnt the giants from Kryta etc. Note the key words "walking on tryia" could mean many things.

The Vizier was corrupted into becomign a follower of Abaddon by one of his own aides (see the quests in RoT for details) he wasnt always a follower. Once long before the Catalcysm he was a great wize man. He was forced into corruption much like Shiro did bit by bit.

both the Lich/Vizier Khilbron and Shiro were tricked by Abbadon. As Sophitia said, it is explained in some Realm of Torment Quests.(Escape from the Torment and Bad Fortune) Terick/Razakel tricked the Vizier into causing the Cataclysm and The Fortune Teller who tricked Shiro into murdering the Emperor was an agent of Abbadon as well.

I'm not sure if this can be confirmed with concept art but aren't the Norn sort of bestial looking? I find the pseudo Latin nomenclature of the "scientific" name for the giants somewhat telling. Giganticus=Really Big obviously. Lupicus reads very close to wolflike to me. Technically it would be Lupinus but it's not like the "scientific" name is all that accurate. I've read it listed as Great Giants for a translation and while I know Tyrian nomenclature doesn't have to conform to any known language Giganticus Majorus or Giganticus Rex would likely be more appropriate for a Great Giant. Just my thoughts

Just to put this out there, since Norns are shapeshifters with some possible relation to Giganticus Lupicus, which is very similar to Lupinus (latin for wolf) could the Norns be werewolves as well?
