Crystal Desert / Elona Connections
there are so many connection between the 2, but maybe we can piece them together tofind out what is actually going on...we know there is "Elona's Reach" and there are the Elonians which help you ascend, as well as (as of the latest update) i have noticed that the large ship in the intro screen looks alot like some of the debris you find lying around the desert no? will the forgotten be a large part of nightfall in any way? will the Elonians also play a large role (the ancient ones)
start completing the puzzle!

You see the "Alaska" looking piece penetrating into the sea on the west side of Crystal Desert? I say that's Elona. It sure looks like the map we saw in the convention, only it's bigger.

I hope that the connection between Elona and Tyria is a mission in the south Crystal Desert.

yeah, I made these connections as well. Another thing I noticed were all that statues wearing the lieutenant's helms. I'm hoping that we might get 15k Knight's armour for tanks in Nightfall. I really like the 1.5k stuff and I wish there was 15k Knights around.

That would be cool, but there's a Boat in the preview videos we've seen, like the boat near Lion's Arch and Kaineng Center.
Of course, that's not to say there couldn't be an alternative way in...

Well it's already been confirmed that you travel to Elona with the same little boat on the map (plz don't ask me to find a quote lol). Considering the "near impossible" quest you have to complete to get over to Cantha; don't expect anything too fancy to get to Elona.

From the pre-release booklet...
Elona is to the south of Crystal Desert.
Turai Ossa (or Ghostly Hero; if it sound more fimiliar to you) once lead an army and faught some undead lord in Crystal Desert. Their strength is evenly matched, so Turai Ossa challenged the Undead lord to a 1v1 match and defeated him/her/it. He gained fame and fortune because of it and became the Hero of Elona. After that, he focused on studying the scrolls of the flameseeker prophacies and became obsessed over it. He thought he and his followers were the choosen ones and lead them to Crystal Desert to ascend and be granted eternal life. And as you already know, they failed and achieved eternal "unlife". He and his follower's spirits now dwalls the desert, seeking to help the choosen ones ascend.

The common belief that Orr is located on the Tyrian map as previously pointed out is prepetuated because of it's impact crater like setup. There is no place in the lore that describes the cataclysm as a meteor or "death from above". All it states is that the Vizier destroyed Orr, and that only a few small islands remain.
Quote:
The king’s own personal advisor in the matters of the arcane took it upon himself to destroy the invaders, no matter the cost. Unrolling one of the Lost Scrolls, kept inside a warded vault deep within the catacombs below Arah, he spoke the words of a litany that spelled the end of the Kingdom of Orr forever.
There are few who survived that day, now known as the Cataclysm. While the Charr were never allowed to step foot in Arah, few count what the king’s advisor did on that day as a victory. The resulting explosion felled the invading army where it stood, but so too did it sink the entire peninsula, leaving only a scattering of small islands in its place.

There is a chain of Islands on the Elonian map which would fit the description of Orr properly. It is situated just north of Istan, southwest of the Crystal Desert, just west off the coast of Elona. Pay attention to the shallow water outline of that island chain, it suggests the Islands are connected via underwater land mass. Also notice how the color and texture of that landmass is different from anything around it, or anywhere else in Elona for that matter, since other islands match the mainland something had to of caused this island chain to be drastically different. Perhaps the Cataclysm? Who knows, but that's my theory.

I'm actually more inclined to believe that either the official Lore is wrong, or the Prophecies map was drawn wrongly.
If Orr is to the south of Ascalon and southwest of the Crystal Desert, how in the world can they realistically be at war with both Kryta and Ascalon? Does it make sense that the Charr would march through Ascalon, and then through the Crystal Desert to hit Orr?
I would say they either made the Shiverpeaks a bit too big and failed to consider Orr, or they placed the Crystal Desert a bit too far north and accidentally cut off Orr from Ascalon.
Your theory of Orr actually being on the map for Nightfall is possible, but that would put Orr even further from Ascalon and would put communication and trade as uncommon, much less prolonged guild wars. Also, those big islands are hardly what I would call "a scattering of small islands".
Finally, since the official lore did say scattered islands (and that most of Orr's population was wiped out, and that the undead in Kryta are actually from Orr), I actually think it's more likely to be the small islands to the south of Lion's Arch. Which would put it much closer (both "locationally" and logistically) to both Kryta and Ascalon, making the guild wars more plausible.

The lore is semi wrong. That broken peninsula matches the description (it's in Tyria and Orr was one of the Tyrian kingdoms, the Charr could get to it by crossing the southern mountains of Ascalon, all thats left is blackened, burned land and some islands), but the lore says it's south-swest of the Crystal Desert, when in fact it's south west of Ascalon.
