Default Glint Question

I know this probably has been mentioned before, but I never really found a good theory or answer.

What happened to Glint?
Why are lvl 5 Ascalon Knights in her Lair?

Are dragons mostly extinct in Guild Wars? (Not saltspray, but glint ones)

Thanks.

And another question.... Why do we humans get the thought of killing our only guide as the bonus?

Okay, in order...

1) She isn't dead, as proven by later appearances. You probably just KO her. I don't know why she doesn't speak to you differently afterwards (aside from the fact ANet is too lazy to program it).

2) Honestly, no idea. Perhaps they got run there? XD

3) Not really, though I guess most of them are so puny they are being owned by evil (or us) and being turned into bone dragons. Glint and Kuunavang are exceptions. Also, Glint has eggs, which DO have baby dragon fetuses in them if you angle the camera right. They must just take forever to fully grow. Think about it. Lvl 31 dragon who does hundreds of damage. In the newer chapters this sort of power is common, but back when she was planned in Prophecies days, she was the only one with such uber-ness. Probably takes thousands/hundreds of years for them to hatch.

Scrinner: Well, this is my character's reason - "Hey, I bet we can make a fair amount of money off these babies! We can forge 'em into Crystalline Swords."

I find it rather interesting that the bonus in that mission is to kill an ally. Very strange indeed. Really, I can't think of a decent explanation, but then again why is Master Togo still at the courtyard alive after the player beats Factions too?

Anyway, as for low level characters in high level areas, that's due to several things. The most common in Prophs is just simply being run. The player creates a character, does the minimum number of quests to get into Post Sear, gets a run to Yak's Bend and then to LA, then gets a run to ToA and Sanctum Cay, and then someone runs the mission for them, and then they run towards all the outposts. One of the three missions in the desert can be run by a single character, and another (the PvP fight) can be done relatively easily. I helped a level 12 ranger do that one (and the bonus) with absolutely no problem.

As for the other one (protecting the king) I suppose you'd need to join a willing party member with good heroes. Now, with Factions and Nightfall it's a lot more challenging since you can't skip huge areas at a time. There I assume the player had a few good friends or guildmates helping him/her out.

And thus, you see the rare level 10 monk in Arborstone.

On a side note, why the hell would anyone want to waste their time being the lowest level possible? Is this some kind of quirky new status symbol?

No, the lvl 5 Ascalon Knights are NPCs. You see a few of them dead in the Dragon's Lair mission.
No idea why and how they came there.=s

That is the result of not playing the game though and hire a runner to run those ascalon knights to dragon lair.
Ascalon knights hired runner. Woah.

Glint is still around and who knows? she may even make an appearence in EotN. Shes been absent through 2 major events already.

The Ascalon Knights are only in the necromancer part. Since i doubt they could of made it through previous chambers (or even into the lair) i beleive they are just used for the monsters to exploit corpses. Ascalon Knights are a common modal used in Prophecies so that could be why they are the ones used. A lore theory could that they possibly believed themselves to be the chosen.

To answer the "killing the guide" question i always thought it would of been to test our worth.

Glint - "And that is how you fit in the Flameseeker Prophecies..."
Player - "Wow, that is some great information! The world would have ended without it. Hey are those your eggs?"
Glint - "Yes, they are in various stages of incubation. The most recent have been there for 750 years and are approaching their first transition."
Player - "Nice, I suppose it'd be ok if I took one, right?"
Glint - "Well, no. They are my children after all."
Player - "Hmm, that really makes this tough. I am glad for the world saving information, but I could relaly use some extra plat when I get to Droknar's Forge. I have to pick up some new armor, dye, skills...I'll just take one."
Glint - "Please, don't do that. I am more than happy to help you, but I will defend my family to the death."
Player - "Death huh? Well........YOINK! Haha, stupid dragon! Wait! You're PISSED! Why?!?"

Great dialog to go with the "need some extra money" theory." Should be in a special book - "Guild Wars: The Lost Transcripts". Contains dialog, cinematics, etc. that were cut for time!

I don't like how Glint loses her ability to speak English and turns into a mindless killing machine with a Godzilla roar when you make her mad...and she doesn't revert until after. At least Kuunavang spoke to us! That's the only good thing about her. Other than that, Glint > Kuunavang. Why, Ascalon Knight > Kuunavang. They should have visited HER lair!

Completely off topic, but another idea I had.

I was looking at the Tyria timeline yesteryday, and well these true giants left the world 10,000 years ago right?

The the Great Destroyer and Great Dwarf could be the last two hidden great giants. Giants as old possibly as old as the gods with powers that are equal if not greater.

I mean thats the only way I can think of that would make these last bosses seem more like a disaster. If they were menzies and the other fallen gods, well it wouldn't be that exciting. We have already defeated Abaddon a full god, so how would these half gods that Balth can already take care of by himself pose a challenge?

I think Glint is immortal, but not immortal in the same body, Once she dies one of the Eggs Hatches and the infact rapidly grows and Glint is reborn. The reason she attacks is because like all creatures human or otherwise she is Broody and wishes to protect her Young (who have a genetic memory so they know everythign Glint knows when she lays them), evidently in a more feral way than most (i guess her insticts just took over and made her temporaily Feral)

As for the Ascalons well they must have came over the mountain wishing to ascend, they used Prot Spirit to Win the ascension missions but then failed the Quest to see Glint due to the Necromancers.

You kill = she dies , its also the reason why after u kill her she speaks like u havnt done anything wrong, because she lost the memorys between her laying the egg and us killing her and so she never relises u killed her

I think you've got the answer!

Each time Glint is killed, a new Glint is born with all the memories, ect. of the previous Glint, who then lays 1 more egg to remain immortal. As to why she becomes Feral, this theory explains this behaviour as well as you are messing with her potental immortality as well as the bother she has to go through with dying, being reborn and having to lay another egg.

Well if we lose the bonus she turns back to her intelligent form and makes a rude comment that i've forgotten at the moment. And if we kill her.... we kill her i suppose. Why we kill our guide.. who knows

Maybe the Ascalon Soldiers came there through Prince Rurik somehow I mean maybe seeing the sodliers could have given away clues. Plus I bet the lich and rurik didnt jsut sit around and sip tea while they waited for you. Maybe they tried to get extra power from the dragons eggs... who knows

Also I cna almost guarentee that there will be a dragon or two in Eye of the North considering there introducing dungeons. And for osme strange reason dungeons and dragons normally mix(lol thats that weird game).

Ascalonians who attempted ascension?

Besides, you can get to the crystal desert trough ascalon, how else could the charr reach Arah in orr? so it is quite possible they could be there low level.

Or they just used the standard ascalon guard template.

this is disapointing compared to the usual quality of the lore section inserts.

basically glint is dragon and if you read the starting lore it says dragns once rulled over the land but moved to a plaec that noone can get to currently.

Glint lives in a dimension that is as hard to find as a grain of sand therefore explaining.

you fight her as a sort of challenge. i mean se would be interested to see if she was tough enough beat the chosen. wouldnt you being insanly old an bored.

lvl 5's why cant glint just teleport them fro askalon sort of like an evil thing. you have to use the bodies of your own countrymen. ect.

i mean common guys shes not even litterally in the crystal desert shes in a different dimension. just like the portal in NF. use your brains man.
