Default Speaking of dieing...

How long do you have to be dead on the ground before ressing doesnt affect you anymore? can you lay there for all eternity till some crazed monk comes by and resses you?

I would assume that ressing would be a problem when your organs rot.

Where is the thin red line between being resurrected by a monk and being reanimated by a necromancer?

The cool thing about GW is that they are not mutually exclusive! Double Win! (assuming the necro is on your side...)

The real indignation is if your corpse is used for Putrid Explosion.

I don't know about the thin red line, but I do know Rurik falls into the gray area.

Now that's an interesting thought. I would assume there would be a point at which your body would be so damaged that it wouldn't be viable for resurection, but one wonders where? I'd say sometime before rigor mortis sets in, but that's just me.

One might imagine 10,000 years in he GW future some archiologist digging up a body, using a res sig on this pile of mummififed bones and learning about the past from first hand epxerience...

Thanks for that it actually made me laugh

Um for the OP question, this question pops up every now and again, and I think the most reasonable answer I have personally seen would have to be that Anet has to basically allow characters to be revived. (imagine having a character for a few months then you suddenly die and you can't EVER use that character again *screams*).

Also ressurection is possible in the storyline but only by "higher" beings a good example I enjoy is when the envoys (well technically 1 of them) ressurect you after Shiro has just killed you.

But And i Just remembeed, I do believe that in those stories about Devona's adventures (soory the name eludes me at the moment) it actually describes how a monk ( i *think* menhlo) ressurects a fallen ally, but that being said if all this ressurection is possible, why on earth don't people just ressurect heroes like Saidra, Rurik ( provided they can retrieve their bodies ofcourse ) or villians like confessor Durian etc, I don't know all the details Lore is not my strong point, so if a lore expert does read this, can he/she patch it up for me so the OP can get his/her answer cause this whole little essay I wrote must sound so dodgy , thanks

Well I'm fairly sure it's about bodies and souls.

In response to Maria:
They can't resurrect Rurik his body was covered by an avalanche
They can't resurrect Dorian because he died on a bloodstone
They can't resurrect Saidra she was killed and then her body taken by Mursatt

I'm fairly sure the lore resurrection is all to do with monks and you have to politely ignore res shrines.

Also for Maria:

I remember that story, it was a Guild Battle, The Chosen of Ascalon versus some people. And the guy being rezzed was Devona's dad? I can't remember who was rezzing though.

The Envoys take the spirits to the afterlife and the person is no longer res-able. We as the chosen champions of Tryia are strong willed and the Envoys never have the chance to take our souls since we are ressed too fast for them to arrive or because they know we are the chosen ones and so we are special and they leave us alone for one reason or another. I would say the envoys remove the soul from the body(or this happens automatically) and then transport it away.

In times where we are autoressed by the Shrines i would guess the Spirit from the body is drawn there by the gods where they teleport and restore the body and soul as one.

We are the chosen ones, the ones the Gods Favor, the greatest Heroes of all time. (until Gw2 atleast)
Your only res-able for aslong as the Gods allow you to be
