Tyrian Map Question
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Image:T..._%28new%29.jpg
I don't have GWEN, so this is more of a scholarly curiosity for me.
Does anyone have information on what exactly the volcanic-looking island in the top left corner is?

Before GWEN was released i assumed it would be the location of the final boss battle. Maybe a future game update will add an elite mission/area to that island., who knows?

Probably GW2 info, or else a feature that was removed, the remains of an old civilization or something, we may know in GW2, we may never know. ~~~~

The GW2 lore at one point talks of lands that surround a volcano the Charr visted upon looking for their gods 200 years before the searing. I have a feeling this is the volcano its talking about (seeing as the only other area is the Ring of Fire Island Chain).
Quote:
So, in order to fight the human threat, the Charr sought a god of their own. Two hundred years before the Searing, the Burnt warband, a group dedicated to the Flame Legion, ventured to the lands surrounding the Hrangmer volcano (translated to human, the name means “Jaws of Oblivion”). Upon its return, the warband claimed to have found gods for the Charr at long last.

I think they are talking about the titans (who claimed to be their gods) and the fire chain islands.

That is definitely the Ring of Fire. The charr claimed the titans as their "gods", and the titans came from the Ring of Fire.
Aside from this, when I saw the map in the update, I thought for sure it would be where we'd fight the Great Destroyer. Apparently not. I now suspect that it's just something that's staring us in the face and laughing at us. My bets are that we'll fight Primordus there in GW2, or his biggest cronie. If it's his cronie, I'd imagine that--for old times' sake--we'd fight Primordus in the Great Destroyer's lair.

If it is indeed the Ring of Fire i have to question how the Charr got there and why it has only now been named as there is no mention of Hrangmer anywere. Of course the RoF is the place where the Door of Komalie is however it had been closed up to the events of Prophecies.

Yep. that's why the Lich met Abbadon. His soul was sucked through the gate right into the heart of Abbadon's Rhelm.

Given that The Door leads to the Foundry, and that Titans are found within the Domain of Anguish, and creatures from the Domain can enter the mortal realm through Chaos rifts... Could the Charr 'gods' of the day not have been encountered somewhere other than the RoF?
Since sacrifices on the Bloodstone are the only thing that powered the Soul Batteries and kept the Door closed, until they started after Saul's founding of the Mantle and its decent into a corrupt evil, how was the door ever closed? So perhaps the Charr met the Titans in the RoF before the Door was closed and sealed?
I'm just talking here...

What I want to know is, as stated earlier, Torment creatures are able to enter the mortal world through Chaos Rifts, which, the way it seemed in NF, could open almost anywhere at any time under most conditions.
In this case, the Titans may have entered the mortal worlds some other way and met the Charr, via a Chaos Rift.
But if that is the case, would that not mean the Titans could have invaded Tyria many times before through these rifts, making the entire Door of Komalie plot element pointless?
Unless Chaos Rifts may only open the same reason they did in NF - Abaddon reaching into our world.
Still, it leads much speculation as to the Realm of Torment itself. Truly that place is a dank dark and smelly hellhole that needs more elaboration on.
The other possibility is that there are other links between the Foundry and Tyria, like a mini-door of Komalie, through which the Charr met the Titans, though on a lesser scale.
Yet ANOTHER possibility, the Titans had invaded Tyria before (perhaps on a smaller scale considering the fact if it was as large as the Prophecies one, the Charr would have seen them struck down and would abandon them). Perhaps a small invasion occured in the Charr Homelands, the Charr immediately bowed to the immense power these beings held.

I think the island is just an area thats there for decorations, such as much of the charr area*why do we only get three areas, a town, and 4 dungeons in teh charr homelands! its not fair :'(* and like the lands north of kryta *lots of unexplrable green stuff up there. Perhapes Anet is saving that island for another expansion? Also, to me it doesnt really look volcanic, just barren.
As for the idea of Titans going through chaos rifts. 1) rifts only occured because abaddon was *finally* trying to enter into the mortal realm so titans couldnt use it so much. 2) maybe the titans couldnt go through those rifts *notice how only margonites and torment demons come through?* 3) Maybe abaddon just didn't want the titans to go through except to be seen by the charr *and act as gods to them* since he was no longer a god to humans. Can't be a god directly, then lead some "gods."
