Priority list for races:
1. Human
2. Mursaat and Sylvari (for some reason I think there will be an eventual connection)
4. Norn (Shapeshifting FTW)
5. Char (They are just cool)

What I don't like:

Centaurs (they annoyed the heck outta me all across Tyria)

Avicars/Tengu (I HATE the sound they make when attacking, especially when I was trying to farm in Shiverpeaks)

1. Charr - possibly the most fun from an RPG perspective; the enemies that turned good (presumably, in GW2). This will be a fun race because they will look very different from the other races, and are possibly the "least Human-like" of the confirmed races.

2. Asura - The voice acting made this a very fun race to watch. I actually enjoyed the Asura area the most, maybe because of the Central American themed buildings, but also the personality of the Asura is very entertaining. They appear to be snobs, but they have the same faults as Humans do.

3. Human - what can you say about Humans? They are often used in fantasy as a reference point; a way to relate to other races. Since Guild Wars srated with Humans as the only playable race, it will be interesting to see how popular these will be. And maybe we can play different factions: Ascalonian, Krytan, Elonian, Canthan, etc.

4. Naga - doubt this will be playable, but perhaps since they were once friendly in Cantha. Maybe have some relation to the Forgotten?

5. Mursaat - no, these will not be playable. It would be like playing a Titan.

6. Dwarves - will these even be in GW2? I'd be surprised.

7. Norn - Obviously, a very popular choice. I suspect Norn Warriors to be as plentiful as W/M. That said, they have a cool individualistic culture.

8. Centaurs - After seeing Ventari in the Asura lands, I really hope we can play a centaur. Love Zhed, too. [under breath] "Two-legs." They are the "slave race" who feel both bitter and grateful to Humans. (which is why I don't think we'll be seeing Dredge as a playable race).

9. Avicars/Tengu - seems a logical choice for a race with Talon hench and the "Raise the Roost!" quest. Not sure there is much to differentiate from other races at the moment, they need something unique to give them more appeal.

10. Djinn - will not be a playable race, IMO.

There is a fine line between "monsters" and "race." I think a "race" needs to have a culture that sets them apart from "Monsters".

Charr, Tengu, Centaurs, Dwarves all have distinct culture: language, customs, and a backstory to make them "real."

"Monsters" like Mursatt and Djinn never speak (to my memory), and have no purpose other than "enemies to fight." Maybe somebody can expand on this idea.

(albeit, the line between "monster" and "race" is one drawn by the writers. Mursatt could be a race, if we met a sympathetic Mursatt who told us of the ways of the Mursatt for example...)

For me, it will be a human female mesmer and the rest can be a mix, but I'm leaning towards a charr warrior.

There is a djinn character in the first Master of Whispers quest line. Still, I don't think djinn are appropriate because, at least from what we've seen so far - djinn are all the way over to the 'nature' side of the 'nature versus nurture' debate - a water djinn is always a Dervish, for example.

Personally, I see the dividing line between a race (not necessarily a friendly race) with a culture and a creaure as being whether the monster's profession seems to be defined by what it is, or whether it seems to be defined by training. Of the races we fight, Charr, centaurs, tengu and so on all have a wide range of professions - there are some that may not be common (which could be either preference or lack of trainers) such as elementalists or necromancers among Tyrian centaurs, but the evidence is that they are trained into a role rather than born into it (even if the culture itself may decide who to train for what role according to their birth). Djinn, on the other hand, are born into their profession - apart from unique examples like Churahm and Korrub (which were probably also born that way), for instance, all Water Djinn are dervishes.

Has to be Norn for me too I think, Ursan blessing is just too much fun atm to imagine them making this class anything but entertaining to play.
